John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

I am continuing to learn more about the Census and it’s data both for a practical perspective and so I can develop skills for my future. It’s good to know what data is out there, so I can whip up some quick code and get some data out to clients who need it. Plus it’s a great way to fill space on the blog.

Also been continuing to run the numbers 🔢 and think about my Mission Fifty Plan. I think my financial plan as it stands is fairly secure, though having to replace my truck in a year or two will have a temporary dip, though I don’t plan to have something has a fancy or nice for my next truck. Thinking small, though I do want a truck cap for camping. I kind of like the Toyota Tacomas, as they are easier to drive and park, though I might consider another regular cap-short bed Silverado if it means I can reuse my cap. The other thing I’ve been thinking about is how to get more involved and knowledgeable about homesteading and off-grid living — I should look for events and classes to participate in. I am also thinking about taking a class in welding. 👩🏭 A lot though should involve stay the course.

Truth is I’ve been listening to the Byrds Turn, Turn, Turn a lot today. 🎸 I’m a bit saddened by the death of David Crosby but so died Chris Hillman or was it Roger McGuinn not all that long ago? They were the past generation but still a good song more than half a century later. We need more change and new ideas. Mr. Crosby was a character, Crosby Stills and Nash had some good songs and in many ways those album covers are life goals.

Out for the morning walk and it’s pretty wet. ☔ But it’s not pouring out and my boots 👢 are waterproof. Not at all icy locally. Sloppy though.

I wanted to take the express bus in this morning, 🚌 but that was not to be due to me leaving my laptop at home. So I had to turn around and get my laptop and there wasn’t time to catch anything but the local to work. 🚏 It got me there regardless. Not an electric bus this week. 🔌 Probably for the best, it wouldn’t have been a pleasant walk down to the express bus today. Haven’t used the express bus much this week, because of the weather and session days.
