Not too cold without a breeze. 🍃I sat out back for a while watching laser light show listening to podcasts after my evening walk 🚶 where I sat down at the park for a while and downloaded podcasts. 📶 I was a bit freaked out about ticks 🐜 but truth be told I miss sitting down at park, on the hill with a book 📙.
Another fairly busy day at work 💻, got another report completed and submitted although there was some downtown mid afternoon while I waited to get database access. I actually ended up working a ten minutes after five off the clock 🕒 but that’s fine because I had some downtime and I’m home so it worked out that I put in an honest seven and a half from home.
Still haven’t gone to the grocery store or laundromat 👚 but I have enough food 🍲 and I’m deciding on my weekend plans and if tomorrow is nice enough to go over to Rennselear County tomorrow to work down at Schodack Island followed by a walk and shop 🏪. Obviously if I plan to spend a few nights in the wilderness I’ll need certain foods for camping ⛺ I will need certain things in my pantry. To be safe I’m trying to only do one grocery shop this week and not visit any gas stations or stores while I’m out. Really trying to be on my best behavior and physically isolate plus I like avoiding spending money. 💵

I’ll see what the work load is, I’d like work down by the river but not if I’m very busy and it’s cold. 💻 A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 2003. 2.4 inches of snow fell back in 2014.❄
Tomorrow I’ll start going through the attic and getting gear ready for adventure one of the year. ⛺ It’s certainly much down scaled from previous plans but still will be fun and hopefully I’ll not run into anyone else up there. Snow is gone from most of the state now and I have my rubber boots 👢 in case it’s muddy but I don’t expect much mud up there except while fishing. 🎣 I’ll renew my license maybe tomorrow and keep it on my phone. 📱 Not that I’ve ever had my license checked.

I did just see an ad about them in the email. I’m sure some people are still freaking out about Coronavirus but truth be told by the time their products get to America the pandemic will be over. Some of their products are a mixed bag but they are still a great place to source electronic components from even if you now have to pay tax on them.

I am not so quick to dismiss the president’s power to regulate the re-opening of state businesses. While the federal government lacks a police force, they do control the purse strings for billions in federal finding that can be conditioned on state’s reopening. Additionally, the federal government has wide latitude over interstate businesses and facilities that cross lines.
If Congress adopts a law, the federal government can clearly say an interstate accommodation must be allowed to operate. That’s pretty clear with the Heart of Atlanta Supreme Court case. Congress can also tie Medicaid or Highway funding to states allowing businesses being reopened.
While the Impoundment Control Act of 1974 would clearly prohibit most appropriated funding to the states from being impounded by by the President other funding is discretionary and the President and his administrative agencies could set out clear guidelines to ensure state compliance before the discretionary funding is released. Some of that would push up against the Impoundment Control Act but the state might reopen on its own before winding through the courts.
The truth is we don’t really know. It’s impossible to predict the future and there is no guarantee where the science will lead the scientists. While it seems like developing a vaccine doesn’t violate any laws of physics or nature and there are hopeful possibilities, we won’t know until something actually is developed and it proves to be safe and effective.
Often hopes are dashed when things leave the drawing room and proof of concept. Every day you hear about new renewable energy schemes and things like fission energy or electric cars and airplanes to revolutionize the world. Or great improvements in battery storage. But they’re always off some time in the future.
12 to 18 months from today never happens because tomorrow becomes today. A date next December that is 12 to 18 months away is still just as far away. Incremental improvements on existing technology are much more possible to but not certain. Maybe we’ll get lucky but it’s not good to promise something that doesn’t exist today.
