August 21, 2018 Night

Good evening! Increasingly cloudy and 74 degrees in Delmar. ☁ Rain is expected later. β˜” Light breeze from the south-southeast 🌬. With rain coming, the dew point has creeped up to 64 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 4 pm. Just in time for the Save the Pine Bush hike I’m leading at 6:45 pm tomorrow.

I’m continuing to work on revamping my mapping software and adding additional states. 🗾 I think I will over the next month make some new Vermont maps up follow by West Virginia. Then I went down to the library sent some work emails and added some updates to the blog. 📚Watched yet another video about off grid living. Came home, picked up some more milk for breakfast and probably dinner tomorrow. 🍵 I still like milk with my meals. I’ve always thought that it was my favorite beverage especially as it keeps so much of the land working.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, then occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. β˜” Low of 69 degrees at 4am. 10 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6am. 🏖️ South wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. All I can say is I’m glad I’m not camping tonight. After midday tomorrow it will clear out and be great through the weekend. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies. It was sticky. It got down to 68 degrees. The record low of 39 occurred back in 1982.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous Moon 🌔 with 84% illuminated. The moon will set at 2:27 am. The Sturgeon Moon 🌕 is on Saturday night with partly cloudy skies. Where ever I camp, it should be a a great weekend with the full moon. The sun will rise at 6:09 am with the first light at 5:39 am, which is one minute and 4 seconds later than yesterday. 🌄 Tonight will have 10 hours and 23 minutes of darkness, an increase of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 10am and 2pm. ⚑ Going to have to be careful as I run between office buildings tomorrow in the morning. High of 79 degrees at 2pm. One degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 69 at 8am. 🏖️ South wind 10 to 18 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies. It was humid. The high last year was 89 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1916.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Maximum dew point of 60 at 4pm. Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 83. Maximum dew point of 68 at 5pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 79 degrees.

The plan for the weekend remains the same, Pisceo Powley if I don’t get Friday off otherwise Moose River Plains. β›Ί It’s going to be such a nice week with a full moon so wherever I go it will be a great adventure. I have to start packing and planning tomorrow so I will have to follow up with my supervisor.

In four weeks on September 18 the sun will be setting at 6:59 pm,🌄 which is 48 minutes and 5 seconds earlier then tonight. In 2017 on that day, we had heavy fog, fog, shallow fog, patches of fog, mist, partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 84 and 61 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 71 and 51 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1891.

Still thinking about getting a Raspberry Pi to play with this autumn. As I noted before I don’t like high power consumption or the limited amount of cpu power compared to a laptop but it might be a fun toy to use for playing back video or listening to music. If I could use it with my Bluetooth headphones and software defined radio I could see it to be quite useful. 📟And certainly there are lots of devices I could control with it but for most of those purposes the Ardiuno Nano or ESP32 are much better. But I think I’ll wait until I have an extra $50 to spend on it.

Looking ahead, Average High 70 🎑 is a month away, More Night then Day 🌌 is in 5 weeks, Election Day 2018 🗳️ is in 11 weeks, Average Night Below Freezing 🌌 is in 12 weeks, Christmas 🎅 is in 18 weeks, New Years Day 2019 🎉 is in 19 weeks, 36th Birthday 🎉 is in 23 weeks and Election Day 2020 🗳️ is in 115 weeks.

I had better get some sleep. Good night, stay dry tonight on this soon to be blustery and wet night. 💤
