June 24, 2016 Evening
Happy Weekend! Mostly sunny and 80 degrees in Johnstown. There is a north-northeast breeze at 7 mph. The dew point is 45 degrees.
Traffic was just awful on the Thruway but once I got passed Schenectady it was moving. Took it all the way to Amsterdam to save time. Bought some groceries and pizza, sunscreen and swim goggles. The goggles should make swimming with the contacts much easier – I’ll be able to see underwater. I’m off to Stewart Landing to see if I can get a decent campsite, otherwise it’s Piseco Powley Road.
Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 55. Four degrees below normal. Light and variable wind. The record low of 45 occured back in 1982.

I’m off to the Adirondacks for a pleasant weekend of camping, fishing, and paddling.Β If it’s as hot as promised, I probably will be down at the Potholers for quite a while. I wasn’t going to drive into the city this morning, until I missed the bus, but I guess it’s a good thing, as I should be up to camp slightly earlier then otherwise. Hopefully traffic won’t be too bad.
