June 24, 2016 4 PM Update

Good afternoon! Mostly sunny and 82 degrees in Albany, NY. There is a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph. The dew point is 47 degrees. Definitely a nice afternoon.

I’m off to the Adirondacks for a pleasant weekend of camping, fishing, and paddling.Β If it’s as hot as promised, I probably will be down at the Potholers for quite a while. I wasn’t going to drive into the city this morning, until I missed the bus, but I guess it’s a good thing, as I should be up to camp slightly earlier then otherwise. Hopefully traffic won’t be too bad.

Tonight will be clear, with a low around 59. Typical for tonight. Obviously, it will be somewhat cooler in the Adirondacks. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph. The record low of 45 occurred back in 1982.

Tonight the sun will set at 8:37 pm with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is 4 seconds later than yesterday. Almost to the 26th, when we will start losing daylight each night. Mornings already have started to lose daylight, but granted we usually are asleep at 5:14 in the morning.

Tonight we have a Waning Gibbous Moon with 70% illuminated. The moon will rise around 10:38 pm. July’s Buck Moon is on Tuesday, July 19th.

Saturday will be sunny, with a high near 85. Five degrees above normal. South wind 3 to 5 mph. The record high of 95 was set in 1898. Dew point will be comfortable, around 58 degrees for the maximum.

Sunday, sunny, with a high near 88.Β South wind 5 to 9 mph. Despite the heat, the dew point will max out at a fairly comfortable 57 degrees, despite the heat.

In four weeks on July 22 the sun will be setting at 8:24 pm, which is 12 minutes earlier then today. The average high is 83 degrees, and the record for that date is 102 degrees was set back in 1926.
