Probaby I’m a fool for riding my bike to work this morning πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸŒ§οΈ

I am hoping the rain holds off for a while so I can ride to work. That said, who knows if I’ll get wet on the way in, and I concede I’ll probably be quite wet come the afternoon for the ride back to the express. I don’t expect to ride all that the way back to Delmar. It’s fine, I think we’ve made it to the mild part of the year, and I can’t imagine the green up is far away.

Good morning! Clouds and a bit damp with the breeze picking up, around 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁️ There is a south-southeast breeze at 14 mph. πŸƒ with gusts up to 24 mph πŸ’¨πŸ’¨πŸ’¨. The dew point is 43 degrees. The skies will clear Friday around 3 pm.

At five o’clock this morning ⏰ I got the bread and spaghetti squash a cooking, along with a pot of cranberry beans. 🫘🍞 Two types of bread baked, one is carrot πŸ₯• bread and the other one is onion bread. πŸ§… Dinner tonight, which I’m sure I’ll be enjoying after getting soaked on the ride home β˜” will be chicken πŸ” soup. Eggs πŸ₯š for breakfast.

Riding in this morning 🚲 but I concede it will likely be the last time this week. πŸ˜” Just going to rain most of the second half of the week. β˜” Probably get wet riding from Menands to the old train πŸš‰ station in the evening waiting for the bus 🚍 but in the evening I don’t care and can get changed when I get back home 🏑.

Today will have showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 61 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 18th. Maximum dew point of 49 at 5pm. South wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 67 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1922. 5.7 inches of snow fell back in 1961.❄

Not going to be the nicest day ever β˜” but not so cold and I have to work. Plus I appreciate how mild it’s been and I’ve had my windows open helping to ensure lots of fresh air at night for good sleeping. πŸ› I feel well rested after last night with the windows open. πŸͺŸ I’m glad the nicer weather is back again. Yesterday felt so nice with the temperature reaching the mid seventies by afternoon with lots of sun β˜€.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.5Β° from the due south horizon (-15.3Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:55 pm with the sun in the west (276Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:32 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 8:01 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent πŸŒ’ Moon in the west (277Β°) at an altitude of 23Β° from the horizon, 231,965 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:36 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 57 degrees. The dew point will be 50 degrees. There will be a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Last night went to the park 🏞 and read for a while before coming home to knead bread. Dinner was sweet potatoes πŸ₯” and onions and other good stuff. I didn’t carry a physical book, πŸ“™ just more reading with that Libby App. It’s pretty awesome. πŸ“±

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 50 degrees at 5am. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 20th. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2023, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 37 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1874.

Weekend looks kind of suck again. πŸ˜• Saturday, a chance of showers before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, a chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Maximum dew point of 46 at 7pm. At least it will be wet until the green up reducing the fire risk. πŸ”₯ Typical average high for the weekend is 58 degrees.

Believe it or not there are 3 weeks until May πŸ•Š when the sun will be setting at 7:57 pm with dusk at 8:26 pm. On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 59 and 45 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 2001. By then things should be greening up nicely at least outside of the high country and the Adirondacks. 🌸

Broken

Carrots are the magic ingredient in anything baked that’s good πŸ₯•

I do maintain that as I eat my ever so delicious pancakes. Just like with bread and cakes nothing beats the sweetness and softness that carrots bring to cooking. And that sugar high is great for the ride to work this morning.

Good morning! Tuesday, Tuesday. Second gear of the week. Mostly sunny and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. β˜€ When there is no hope, there is spring. 🌸

Carrot pancakes again for breakfast. πŸ₯ž Johnnycakes last night for dinner. You know, loaded with onions, spinach and spices. They’re easy and taste so good. 🚲 Riding in early this morning so I can take the long way in on this beautiful spring morning. Feeling good after a good night’s sleep. No smoke alarm ⏰ issues this night plus I sleep so much better with the windows open. πŸ› Smelled smoke when I awoke but it was wood smoke and not the least bit acrid so I figured it didn’t matter just a fire place somewhere.

Today will have increasing clouds β˜€ πŸ‘‰ ☁, with a high of 72 degrees at 4pm. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 17th. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph in the morning. I’d say this is yesterday’s forecast for the eclipse but it’s slightly warmer. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1991. 13.3 inches of snow fell back in 2000.❄

New landlord emailed me said he was having somebody come by to inspect and measure the windows. πŸͺŸ Seems a little sketchy but I’ll make sure to have my curtains drawn when I’m walking around nakid, lol! πŸ‘οΈ I’m glad at least it seems like they’re renovating the unit next door, but I do wonder what they’re doing measuring and checking the windows. Well, if I have to move I’ll have to move.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:57 pm with sun having an altitude of 55.2° from the due south horizon (-15.6° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:53 pm with the sun in the west (275°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (282°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:31 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:59 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent πŸŒ’ Moon in the west-northwest (281°) at an altitude of 11° from the horizon, 229,725 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:35 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 65 degrees. There will be a southeast breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 13 hours and 14 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over today.

It was nice enough last night to go down to the park 🏞 after dinner and riding home 🚲 the long way. Finished through Chapter 36 of the Robert Caro’s Power Broker audio book – 45 hours but played at 2x speed so more like 22 ½ hours listened to so far. Only maybe 15 hours left, as the 1940s fade into the fifties, and Moses’ final big works with the Power Authority and the Cross Bronx Expressway and ultimately his downfall under Governor Rockefeller.

Tonight will have a slight chance of showers after 11pm. Increasing clouds 🌧, with a low of 47 degrees at 5am. 12 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 11th. South wind 6 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2023, we had clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1974.

Might do the park again 🏞 though I need to find some more e-books to read next. πŸ“š That Libby app is so great. The rest of the week with rain coming looks like crap unfortunately for going to the park but I have conventional books I can read then. 🍞 Going to bake bread and spaghetti squash tomorrow and soak beans for cooking in the morning. Thinking about making chicken noodle soup 🍜 for Wednesday, likely a cold and wet day. Though not too cold.

Weekend looks kind of cool and shitty like usual. πŸ’© And I’m not talking about the cow crap they spread before the rain to soak it good into the ground. Saturday, a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 59. Typical average high for the weekend is 58 degrees. Maybe the following weekend I’ll take a long weekend to head out of town, depends on the weather.

But wait there’s more with, next Tuesday having an Average High is 60 🌷 when the sun will be setting at 7:40 pm with dusk at 8:08 pm. On that day in 2023, we had partly cloudy, warm weather and temperatures between 78 and 57 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 60 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 2012.

 Whitehouse Suspension Bridge

I’m just operating on the assumption that the memo has been written πŸ˜‚

What’s the worse thing that can happen? I waste a bit of ice keeping the cooler cold and some gasoline driving to work. But I do maintain, at least it my shit brain that I’ll have tomorrow off and it will be a great weekend in the wilderness with some great hikes, mountain biking, camping and fires. And if not starting tonight it will be tomorrow. They’ll get that extender done as I can’t imagine anyone really wants to spend Easter in Albany especially with beautiful weather ahead.

Good morning! Rain showers around and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜” There is a northwest breeze at 6 mph. πŸƒ. Got to get out of this place. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Monday around 3 am. β˜ƒοΈ

I am packed for heading out of town, πŸ•οΈ with the assumption being that I’ll have Friday off. No guarantees, but I didn’t want to miss out and the stakes of not packing to leave today are higher then if I didn’t pack and lost out on what should be a nice evening today and a beautiful day tomorrow. Going to be windy tomorrow afternoon, but I’m not going to be that far off the road that if a limb falls I can’t chop or saw it. Plus after all the snow and ice of recent, I don’t imagine there will be a lot more to break.

Today will have a chance of showers, mainly after 10am. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 47 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 21st. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became partly cloudy by afternoon. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 85 5was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.❄

Last night was black beans with tomatoes,  🫘 πŸ… and spices. Got packed, downloaded some videos and e-books to read at camp.  πŸ“šοΈ Looking forward to a nice weekend away from it all, maybe three days away from reality. Might be a bit cool with the breeze but the ample snow should help. I think there will be a bit of snow up north, but nothing real deep, and that’s good because it will reduce the fire risk. πŸ”₯

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.6° from the due south horizon (-20.2° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.9 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:40 pm with the sun in the west (269°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (275°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:17 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:45 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:19 pm. At sunset, look for rain showers 🌧 and temperatures around 44 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 36 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be cloudy ☁, with a low of 34 degrees at 5am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 7th. Northwest wind 13 to 15 mph. In 2023, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of 85 occurred back in 1946.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Good Friday, mostly sunny and 51 degrees for the high. Breezy though but the rain and remaining snow in the high country should cut the fire risk or so I tell myself. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Breezy, with a northwest wind 17 to 21 mph. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 52. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees.

Looking ahead, there are 14 weeks until Independence Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:10 pm. On that day in 2023, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 84 and 54 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 104 back in 1911.

Hiking Back to Pharaoh Mountain from Crane Lake Road

Pharaoh Mountain is located about 10 miles east of Schroon Lake, and can be accessed from the Long Swing / Pharaoh Mountain Trail from the North along with a much steeper and longer trail from Pharaoh Lake from south.

If you choose to take the infamous and rough Crane Pond Truck Trail to it’s end, and then park at Crane Pond, it’s only about a 3 1/2 mile hike up the mountain. If you stop at Alder Pond, and don’t drive through the shallow end of Alder Pond to get to the last mile of Crane Pond Road, then it’s a 4 1/2 mile hike each way.

Where Crane Pond Road Crosses Alder Pond

Below is Alder Pond. It was an amazing morning, as the rain let up and started to clear off. The truck trail cuts through the end of the pond, and with the recent rains, it was deeper then I wanted to take my old pickup through.

 Across Alder Pond

At end of Crane Pond Road is Crane Pond (not surpisingly!) There is a parking area here, and Crane Pond is known for it’s good fishing and beauty.

Crane Pond

Reaching Glidden Marsh on the Pharaoh Mountain Trail. Pharoah Mountain is in the distance, with the peak sticking up. Most of the trail is relatively flat, until you reach the mountain, and then you start climbing.

 Glidden Marsh Through Trees

About halfway up there, there is the most charming little water fall.

Small Waterfall

As you climb, views become progressively better.

Clearing Out to Be Quite Nice

Reaching the summit, there are views in almost all directions, although you have to wonder around the top of the mountain to get all views. Here is looking North-East toward Ticonderoga. You can see Lake Champlain in the distance — barely, along with Crane Pond, Alder Pond, Oxbow Lake, and other features up close.

North East

On the northernly view, you have nice views of the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks, with Mount Marcy and Alonquin Mountains peaking out top.

 Mount Marcy

To the south-west, there are view of Gore Mountain (ski trails still with snow on it as of April 11).

South-West Towards Schroon Lake

There also is a primative campsite on top of Pharaoh Mountain.

 Primative Campsite on Pharaoah Mountain

To the South-East there is Pharaoh Lake, which I did not visit, but the maps show about 5 lean-tos surround it.

Pharaoh Lake

Desolate Swamp is quite purty from the mountain.

Desolate Swamp

After hiking up the mountain, I took a side trip to the beautiful Oxbow Pond, and the other side of Glidden Marsh. Here is the Long-Swing Trail along the edge of Glidden Marsh, near the turn off to Oxbow Lake.

Along Long Swing Trail at Glidden Marsh

Oxbow Lake is so beautiful, and probably real deep.

Oxbow Through Trees

The Oxbow Lean-To. It looks well used, but is in good shape, and has a decent outhouse a little ways from it, a fire pit, along with lots of water for cooking in the nearby pond.

Oxbow Pond LeanTo

The one end of Oxbow Lake is swampy, as it runs between outfall of Crab Pond down to Oxbow.

Swampy End of Oxshoe Pond

Heading back to the truck, the sun flickers on the outlet of Glidden Marsh.

 Outlet of Glidden Marsh

An amazing hike. Definitely want to come back, and possibly spend a night at Oxbow Pond.

To ride or not to ride to work today πŸš΄β€β™€οΈ πŸ”οΈ

I think I already know the answer to that question, as much as I might not love the idea of riding South Pearl Street with the rough pavement, as I am sure there is still too much snow on the rail trail. Got to watch out for the black ice but I assume the bike trail and alike will be plowed in the city, just not down through the gorge. At any rate, Corning Hill is kind of a blast on the bike.

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Sunny and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 Calm wind. There are 4 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️ Alas that’s the only thing giving me pause, as I doubt I can do the rail trail. But by evening the rail trail might be passable, or certainly by tomorrow. Wednesday might rain, and Thursday I might drive in if I plan to head to the Adirondacks after work, assuming I get Good Friday off. ✝️

So it’s the week leading up to Easter Weekend. πŸ‡ I am still hoping to have Good Friday off. That said, Thursday looks a bit wet 🌦️ so maybe I won’t head north until early on Good Friday. I am determined to get bacon πŸ₯“ at For the Love of Bacon, as while it’s not something I’d eat regularly it’s such a wonderful treat. πŸ– And your supporting local agriculture while getting a product made out of simple ingredients. I’m not a bacon and eggs each morning kind of person — but a little bit of bacon and bacon grease as a treat spread over a few weeks or months is wonderful. Lard is kind of a wonderful thing. πŸ«ƒ  I should bring a snow shovel and salt though if heading up north, as there is a chance I’ll need it. But at least fire danger should be relatively low  πŸ”₯ for my mostly DEC compliant 3-foot campfire. I should bring a ruler πŸ“ to measure it, and not burn it, lol. 😸 I just don’t like when people burn pallets and leave nails out for people to run over with their 35-inch tires. πŸ›ž Plastic, I don’t care as long as I don’t have to smell it and it fully burns up or is packed out. πŸ‘ƒ

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 46 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 19th. Light and variable wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became light drizzle by afternoon. The high last year was 41 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 1910. 1.9 inches of snow fell back in 1960.❄

Yesterday I hiked Bennett Hill 🚢‍♂️ after the ice storm.  πŸ”Œ The power was back on by the time I got back from my folks house, I’m glad about that as otherwise it would have been a very cold and dark night. Didn’t help that I had left the heat at 48 degrees the night before, so things really dropped after the heat quit working at 1 AM the previous night. I was a bit worried about pipes freezing, though that has yet to happen even in the coldest weather, though I do remember them being a bit frozen after the 2009 Ice Storm when I lost power for three days. 🌞 And despite all the sunshine, it still was dark in my bathroom without windows, though what I ended up doing was drawing the blinds and leaving the bathroom door. Still I was super cranky about losing power, again for the second time in like two weeks.

Then I went out to my parents house for Sunday dinner of riggies 🍝, which is far more white pasta then I normally eat but it’s nice to have them as a treat while my family is still around. πŸ‘ͺ️ I talk about how close I am to early retirement in 13 years, 10 months and 4 days, and for people who are older that seems like a lifetime — at least a remaining lifetime. But I do agree I really should be spending a least some of that time exploring America. If I want to move out (mid) west, I should explore it first.  πŸ›» If it means boarding a plane ✈️ and renting a car πŸ€‘ and spending some money, then so be it. Then later in the evening, I went for an evening walk.  🚲️ Never got test my adjustments to the bicycle gears  βš™οΈ over the weekend, but I’m sure it will be good enough and I can tweak tonight. Probably won’t be riding home but will catch the bus home due to snow/ice remaining on the bike trail.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:02 pm with sun having an altitude of 49.4° from the due south horizon (-21.4° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.1 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:37 pm with the sun in the west (267°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (274°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:14 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:42 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:16 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies πŸŒ„ and temperatures around 41 degrees. There will be a east breeze at 6 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 28 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over yesterday.

This evening after I get home I’ll probably have a quick dinner of sweet potato  πŸ₯” and some fried veggies, πŸ§… and then go for evening walk before doing some reading πŸ“šοΈ using that Libby app on my phone. I like E-Books whenever they’re available as it avoids a trip to the library, plus I don’t have to worry about getting the books wet and dirty, and I can bring them under the covers in my bed, which is good with the heated blanket, as especially once we get past today. I plan to read e-books exclusively when I head out of town this weekend — I’ll have to make sure the ones I have are downloaded to my phone.πŸ“± Unfortunately my phone is starting to fall apart, so I may have to think about replacing it soon.

Tonight will be mostly clear πŸŒƒ, with a low of 26 degrees at 4am. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 17th. East wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2023, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 31 degrees. The record low of 0 occurred back in 1885.

Spoke to my neighbor about the garbage pile  πŸ—‘οΈ last week and he still hasn’t done anything to address it. He said he was holding it to take to his parent’s dumpster but had forgotten about it. I just don’t like how animals have gotten into it and I’m finding litter now. I wouldn’t care if he had secure garbage cans.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 The only real question in my mind will I get off Good Friday. And can I leave early on Thursday? For Good Friday Eve, a chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Chance of precipitation is 40%. For Good Friday, partly sunny, with a high near 48. Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 49. Easter, partly sunny, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 51 degrees. That sounds like a winner, though it only can slide downhill from here. Not as warm in Adirondacks, but I’ll take that weather for late March.

As previously noted, next Monday is April Fools Day 🀑 when the sun will be setting at 7:23 pm with dusk at 7:50 pm. On that day in 2023, we had rain and temperatures between 74 and 41 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 52 degrees. We hit a record high of 77 back in 1986.

Blackhead from Acra Point

Friday, Again. ☺

Second rent check is on the way to the new landlord via auto pay. It’s working out fine, this is the least expensive, most flexible living arrangement.

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Mostly sunny β˜€ and 21 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 11 mph. πŸƒ. The current wind chill is 9. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Starting out real cold for late March, the heat is back on. Things will start to thaw out at around noontime. 🌑️

Slept until almost six o’clock this morning, πŸ› at which point I got up and made up coffee β˜• and some good hardy pancakes πŸ₯ž with blueberries and pineapple 🍍. Kind of a cold morning, I turned the heat on for a bit and enjoyed my time under the heated blanket. Should be a better day for riding to work but still cold but somewhat less windy. 🚲

Today will be mostly sunny 🌞, with a high of 37 degrees at 3pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 20th. Northwest wind 5 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 63 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 2012. 7.0 inches of snow fell back in 1887.❄

Yesterday was super windy 🌬️ riding back home, but it was excellent cardio. β™₯ Sweet potatoes 🍠 and a fried onions with corn with turmeric was dinner last night. 🍽 Then I went upstairs, read πŸ“– and wrote πŸ“ a bit for the blog. There’s been a lot to think about these days. At one level I feel like a failure walking away πŸ‘£ from building a house πŸ—οΈ but it wasn’t going to end well building I’m New York. If leaving immediately was a good choice, I would take it but it’s not. So I’m just going to stay the course for now. I’m not giving up on the dream, I’m delaying it until I have the necessary resources.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:03 pm with sun having an altitude of 48.2Β° from the due south horizon (-22.6Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.4 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:33 pm with the sun in the west (266Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (272Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:11 pm after setting for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:38 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Full 🌝 Moon in the east-southeast (103Β°) at an altitude of 30Β° from the horizon, 251,954 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:12 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies ☁ and temperatures around 34 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 5 mph. Tomorrow will have 12 hours and 22 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over today.

There is some profound happiness in finding closure ☺ and reverting back to my original plan of moving out of state at retirement or possibly sooner. Age 55 at this point isn’t that far away and it’s a destination I can get to. 🏑 The whole house search thing was kind of silly, I told myself that I could live with being in New York State but I knew that was a profound lie πŸ€₯ I told myself. I want to keep on my savings path 🏦, continue my education πŸŽ“, work hard and produce results in the meantime. The whole house search things really got started when I was super jealous that the head of programming I work with has a house in Westerlo. Stupid reason and it’s not me.

I do need to be more open about who I am but I face profound rejection for being who I am in the community I currently live in. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I get what people mean by coming out of the closet when many don’t fearing both the personal and legal βš– ramifications of being true to oneself. Some of the ways I want to live in activities I want to participate are serious criminal offenses in New York State even if they are perfectly legal and commonplace other places. πŸ”₯ πŸ”« πŸš™

Tonight will snow and sleet likely before 3am, then sleet likely between 3am and 5am, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet after 5am. 🌨 Low of 30 degrees at 1am. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 24th. Northeast wind 5 to 9 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2023, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of -04 occurred back in 1875.

This weekend is certainly starting out wintery. β˜ƒοΈ I think it’s the final last blast of winter at this point. Hoping for better weather for the Easter holiday weekend next weekend 🐰 and actually a little snow on the ground in the Adirondacks is not a bad thing come next weekend as it reduces the fire πŸ”₯ risk. I’m so looking for a few nice nights in the wilderness. β›Ί

Tomorrow will rain or freezing rain, becoming all rain after 7am. 🌧 High of 38 degrees at 11am. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 2nd. South wind 6 to 10 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 56 degrees. The record high of 80 was set in 1938. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 2020.❄

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 40. β˜€ North wind 13 to 15 mph. Definitely a pretty bitterly cold day. Typical average high for the weekend is 48 degrees. I’m hoping for better warmer weather next weekend to spend in the Adirondacks.

One month πŸ“… from now will be Earth Day 🌎 when the sun will be setting at 7:47 pm with dusk at 8:15 pm.
