John Boyd Thacher State Park πŸ“

John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

Raising the Lawful Age of Sexual Relationships to 21 Could Save Lives

One way to reduce teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases would be to criminalize sexual relationships — consensual or otherwise below age 21. 🚫 Consensual sex on this proposal under age 21 would be considered a Class D felony with a mandatory prison sentence of 4 to 7 years. 🔲This would ensure anybody convicted of this crime would be unable to have sex again until they are 21 years of age. Right now, teenagers can consent have sex in many states as young as 14 or 15 years of age, much to young to fully understand the ramifications of a sexual relationship.

This is a very good proposal, as not only would it dramatically decrease the number of law-abiding teenagers ill-equipped to deal with young children, it would also help to prevent abortion, and help expand diversity at local correctional facilities. 👪 A teenager knowing they face felony record along with a long prison sentence is much less likely to engage in sexual behavior of any sort. A television advertising campaign, along with classroom lessons could reinforce the message that society strongly frowns upon such under age sexual relations, and that those who engage in such acts are to be be seriously punished.

Daily Update – March 10, 2022

Good morning! Happy Thursday.

🌹🌻🌼Only 10 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

But first a snow 🌨 storm? Maybe though not a big one. We did get a few inches last night though.

Snow fog 🌫 and 26 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. There are 4 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ ️Things will start to thaw out around 8 am. 🌑️

Day by day we are getting closer to spring. 🌸 But this morning certainly doesn’t feel particularly spring like. Quite foggy 🌁 to be exact. I think everybody was surprised by how much snow we got yesterday – a few inches. Then some point after my evening walk 🚢 it seems to have turned to ice and freezing rain. Although on top of the dusting of snow things aren’t that slick. Actually kind of pretty with all the snow on the trees.

With the snow last night πŸŒƒ I was able to attend the meeting last night via Zoom from home 🏑 and actually take it along for me on my evening walk. 🚢 That said, with the heavy wet snow last night on the trees halfway through my walk the signal πŸ“Ά kept dropping out a bit. Then I hurried home, brushed the snow off my hair and participated in the the question and answer section of the meeting when I actually had to have my video πŸ“Ή camera on. Mobile πŸ“± phones are great especially when you have unlimited within reason data.

I’ve been quite happy 😊 with my decision to go with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches πŸ₯ͺ this week. It does really help to save money and time both preparing, cooking and eating lunch. I should do more sandwiches. Hot lunches are fine but they get kind of tiresome with all the prep work and cleaning up there after. Sandwiches just require a quick cleaning of the containers when done.

Weather Update – March 9, 2022

Cool it looks like through mid-March 🌨

Did you see, nuisance snow today? Not a lot but definitely flurries around this afternoon. Tomorrow though will be much nicer. Weekend though looks cold and rainy for sure. Don’t think I’ll be heading out of town, but with gas prices what they are I wasn’t really planning. I am hoping though that things calm down come April. At least with the warm weather expected later this week and next week, doesn’t look the snow will stick around long.

Daily Update – March 9, 2022

Good morning! What day is it? A soon to be very snowy Hump Day, of course. πŸͺ 🌨

Do you remember the very much snow covered dairy camel in Vermont that was internet famous for a few days a few years back?

Cloudy and 25 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ Calm wind. πŸƒ Things will start to thaw out at around 10 am. 🌑️

Dark morning with the snow 🌨 coming later. I had trouble getting going this morning, my eyes πŸ‘€ were terribly irritated. I didn’t get to bed until late last night πŸ› as I had to work late and wasn’t feeling well this morning. Maybe this evening I’ll go for a walk, depending if I have to work late. πŸ•’

My neighbor hit my trash can lid last night and smashed it up pretty badly. πŸ—‘ I was pretty annoyed about that, as it’s not the first time it’s gotten hit. Looks like from looking at it this morning though that I can epoxy it back together. I think I probably have some rubber cement at home or maybe I can go buy some. I don’t think I can get another trash can lid, or maybe I can, but I’d rather just fix it then throw it away. It’s not like it has to look real pretty — it’s just storing cans and glass for recycling or rotting food and plastics that probably will end up getting burnt in a few weeks.

I was so damn frustrated about it, 😠 as it was just another broken thing in my life. I get it’s a garbage can, doesn’t have to look pretty, and I can certainly replace it but I don’t need more crap in my life. I need to find a solution to it. πŸ“ž I ended up calling Mom and Dad and we chatted for about 45 minutes, although I still don’t think I found a solution. They offered to take old trash for their own use around the farm 🚜 but I’m like why should I have to get rid of a perfectly good can that has just a broken a lid.

Lately it just feels like everything has been falling apart. πŸ”§ The more money I make at work, the more deeper I find myself dug into the hole. Inflation and taxes πŸ’Έ eats up more and more each week, my bank account struggles and gets lower it seems every paycheck. I keep trying to cut expenses but it gets harder and hard to do.

Another late night at work, πŸ‘¨‍πŸ’Ό but at least I’ll probably get a free dinner out of it. πŸ• I heard they are ordering pizza. Any meal that I don’t have to cook and get for free is one less expense. Plus then if I get home late enough, I can just go home, turn off the lights and snuggle under the heated blanket. The blanket uses a little bit of electricity, but I doubt for the whole winter it equal a full 10 kWh, which even in these inflationary times is less then $2 in electricity.

I’ll get through the week 😫 rest up this weekend while it snows and is cold, then hopefully next week will be better. 🌺 Supposed to be quite mild next week, and there is the time change so much less darkness in the evening. πŸŒ† Plus, it’s only a two day session week next week, so less time dressing up for work, and hopefully I’ll have my evenings back, assuming I don’t have to work late.
