Raising the Lawful Age of Sexual Relationships to 21 Could Save Lives

One way to reduce teenage pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases would be to criminalize sexual relationships — consensual or otherwise below age 21. 🚫 Consensual sex on this proposal under age 21 would be considered a Class D felony with a mandatory prison sentence of 4 to 7 years. 🔲This would ensure anybody convicted of this crime would be unable to have sex again until they are 21 years of age. Right now, teenagers can consent have sex in many states as young as 14 or 15 years of age, much to young to fully understand the ramifications of a sexual relationship.

This is a very good proposal, as not only would it dramatically decrease the number of law-abiding teenagers ill-equipped to deal with young children, it would also help to prevent abortion, and help expand diversity at local correctional facilities. 👪 A teenager knowing they face felony record along with a long prison sentence is much less likely to engage in sexual behavior of any sort. A television advertising campaign, along with classroom lessons could reinforce the message that society strongly frowns upon such under age sexual relations, and that those who engage in such acts are to be be seriously punished.
