John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.
The wind is really roaring about. It’s not super cold but look, snow 🌨 is expected for tomorrow. But not a lot. Then heavy rain for Saturday. Not that I can afford to go very far from home, thanks to the mismanagement of everything in Washington DC. ⛽
But maybe with stagflation, it will be a chance to get some good deals in stock market and eventually things will recover. 📉 After all, people who lived through the 1970s and survived, got to live in better times in later decades. 🌱 Fairly warm so maybe that will help a bit with the heating bills.

Partly cloudy and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. ⛅ Breezy, ️22 mph breeze from the west-northwest 🌬 with gusts up to 37 mph 💨💨💨. The current wind chill is 19. Things will start to thaw out at around 9 am. 🌡️
With that wind 🍃 it feels like an early March morning, not too cold but blustery. But I remind myself that April isn’t that far away. Warmer weather should be here before you know it.
The mornings are quite light now 🌅 but will be darker come next week. But only two session days next week due to Purim and Saint Patrick’s Day 🍀 so I can take the express bus 🚍 in and not walk quite as early in the morning.
I swear every time I don’t put gas in my truck ⛽ prices go up another 40 cents. But it’s not like I’m driving much these days although it’s going suck come summer although I tend to think start to clear up by summer. Either the economy will go into the crapper or the politicians will collectively realize that they have no future 🔮 and will start to play nice with Russia. Probably both. $4.45 a gallon for gasoline locally, diesel is $4.98.
I just wish the US could come to some kind of agreement with Russia. 🇷🇺 It’s not worth it to screw up the whole world’s economy over some pissy little country at the border of Russia. Oil is the currency of the world, it keeps motors spinning, power plants running. Affordable energy is key to human happiness. We don’t need to drill baby drill, or put oil wells in bad locations, but we shouldn’t be getting in a pissing match with Russia. The US should be buying Russian oil, 🛢 to keep the economy flowing. We should look to restore order in Ukraine, and if that means selling Russia surplus US military arms, then so be it. It might stink to high hell, 👃 but sometimes we have to do what is right for the world, and not what is moral. There are too many do-gooders today.
Looks like the weekend is going to rain, 🌧 which is fine because I doubt I would want to go out of town with gas prices continuing to rise. The whole situation kind of sucks, but what can I do? The incumbent in the White House gets 2 1/2 more years in there, but hopefully things will rectify themselves in coming months. There isn’t a lot to get worked up about things I don’t control. 😠 So I’ll just take a deep breathe and enjoy the clear weather out today.
But I guess it’s mid March so things should moderate a bit. Saves on the heat. Rainy though today, will want the umbrella. And the weekend doesn’t look that good.

No rain yet but its coming. ☔ I can pretty much assure you of that fact. But for now it’s a pretty mild morning for the morning walk before work.
So damp this morning that my muzzles are still damp from washing last night. 😷 Hopefully they’ll dry a bit more later on after I iron them. Usually washing them on Sunday and drying them overnight isn’t a problem in the winter months with low humidity.
After going out to see my parents on Sunday, I finally got to the grocery store 🛒and washed my truck 🛻. Lady in the big car wash with a little car was embarrassed 😳 when she saw me in my big jacked up truck and let me get in there right away and use the remaining time. I only did the four 4⃣ minute wash after that which was good because it started to rain on my way home 🏡 and there was no rain earlier to fully clean the salt off the road. Well, I tried winter sucks.
I tried to get enough groceries for two weeks so I can avoid driving to the store and using more fuel ⛽. I could always take the Bus Plus 🚍 to the Central Ave Hannaford to get groceries if there is a few things that I run out. I rarely go shopping though midweek. I thought about getting gas last night because I think it will only get more expensive in the near future but at this point I’m only driving like 30 miles a week mostly for one trip to the store and car wash a week.
I plan on using a lot more fuel ⛽ come summer but I figure save while I still can. With inflation I may have to rethink part of my budget although I’m hoping for a cost of living adjustment which will help a bit. I doubt I’ll be increasing my savings rate any time soon with so much higher fuel prices for my big jacked up truck. 🛻
I decided to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches 🥪 this week for a change and to try to cut expenses wherever possible. I am kind of tired of the hot lunch. It’s been years of chicken paddies, seasoned chicken and ravioli. 🐔 I just wanted something different and cut costs wherever possible in my budget. Walmart had jelly in plastic which I prefer as it can either be saved for recycling ♻ or burnt. 🥫 Often fire 🔥 beats scrubbing out nasty jars for recycling which is kind of a joke. 🃏
I fixed the broken code on my blog 💔 which broke when they upgraded the server to PHP 8.1 which broke part of the weather templates system which previously didn’t test for invalid data being coerced into null. 🖥 Also debugged
This table shows the average high, median, and low temperatures for the next year. Previous year values are shown in parenthesis. The sun angle is the maximum sun angle at solar noon for the day.
Seems like more sun then rain today, so that’s not too bad. One week until the time change, so next Saturday evening don’t forgit to set your clock back an hour, at least old fashioned non-web connected clocks. Monday sure looks wet though. The whole forecast seems delightful compared to the cold weather we’ve had lately, even on days a few degrees below normal.
