John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.
Made it almost to the weekend, but it’s going to be a hot one. π Mostly cloudy and 59 degrees to start out the day, but come later looking at peaks of sunshine with a high of around 84 degrees. Not bad when the climate normal for this time of year is 73 degrees.
But the real story of the heat comes tomorrow just in time for the Lupine Festival π¦ where it might reach 94 degrees or even higher π‘shattering the record, as what looks like to be start of a very hot summer, or maybe not depending on who you ask. Back to reality come Monday though, with temperatures only in the 70s to start the work week.
Yesterday, I brought a book down to the park π and read for a while before going for a nature walk. It was surprising cool evening, but this evening should be much more warmer. I have to go over to Lynne’s house and get the supplies for the lupine festival, and then go to the grocery store π as I keep putting this off. But it is going to be a hot evening, so I figure get out and enjoy the air conditioning in my truck.
But it’s not expected to last with cooler weather expected by next week.

Finally back to taking the express bus now that it’s not a session day. It’s running 20 minutes late but I’ve been walking laps in the parking lot and still will have more time to do laps on the Plaza.
Rain showers and 52 degrees at the Elm Ave Park and Ride. β There is a southeast breeze at 7 mph. π. The dew point is 49 degrees. The skies will clear around 5 pm.

Going to bring a lot of water π¦ for the Lupine Festival π². Probably won’t be good for turn out though.
