John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.
I guess technically Friday round 2, as I drove home at 2:30 AM this morning before getting a bit more sleep-eye and catching the bus to work at 10:30 this morning. I will be in the office by eleven, and then go forward from there.
Mostly sunny and 69 degrees at the Delaware Ave. π There is a west-northwest breeze at 6 mph. π. The dew point is 54 degrees. An absolutely beautiful day.
Day by day closer the weekend. π Although first I would like a good nights sleep as it’s been a long time way these days. It’s just been a long week. But it looks like a beautiful weekend. I will probably just end up walking out to Five Rivers tomorrow, but it all depends on how late I’m in the office today.
This table shows the average high, median, and low temperatures for the next year. Previous year values are shown in parenthesis. The sun angle is the maximum sun angle at solar noon for the day.
Weekend still looks quite nice, although I don’t have much in the way of plans for this weekend as I figure I will be tired. But maybe Thacher Park for this weekend would be nice if I can catch the Nature Bus then out to the folks house for Sunday.

Day by day working through the work week. π« Always the last week of session is crazy, though this year seems particularly bad.
I don’t know the answer to that question, but it looks like a stormy but much cooler day today. Nicer though come Thursday into Friday and then a nice weekend ahead.

That of course means more clouds and rain are coming, but once we are through this mess on this hump day, the hope is for much nicer weather come the weekend, assuming that I survive this week from hell and are a awake enough to remember the weekend.

Last night was a late night at work. π¨πΌ I am glad I went home and got my pickup truck π» as I didn’t get released until 11:30 PM after the last bus of the night had left. Got home around midnight, tried to get in 8 hours of sleep but it’s hard to sleep in when you are so used to getting up at 5:30 or 6 AM each morning and doing your walk. πΆβοΈ Evidently no walk last night or this morning. π«
I also forgot my umbrella β which is likely going to be a problem later, although maybe if I time when I get my truck in the evening, I can avoid getting soaked. I will need to get fuel, and I’ll even safe a few pennies thanks to state suspending gas tax for a few weeks. β½
I am continuing to learn more about Geospatial Data in R. πΊ While I feel like I am getting really good at working with Vector data in R, there is a lot more I can learn about Raster data in R. There is a bit of a learning curve, because some of the Geospatial libraries in R are a bit young and in transition — while SF is fairly mature, raster is being replaced by terra, and terra isn’t fully compatible with sf. Plus the documentation is often spotty and out of date. But I am sure that R is a much more powerful and better way to work with Geospatial data then working in QGIS or even worse spreadsheets.
I am thinking about the Nature Bus possibly on Saturday to Thacher Park π although truth be told I might be up too late on Friday for work, so that might not be a realistic option. Plus the buses to Thacher Park run far less frequently this year, and no more pick up from Five Rviers.
