It was real easy hiking down this road with the snowshoes on. Little did I know that the plowing would end, and me and the puppy would be going through 4 foot deep snow and sheets of ice.

After struggling through the deep snow for 45 minutes, I finally reached The Gulf, a 500 foot deep hollow. Deer apparently congregate along the edge of this hollow, as witnessed by the ample deer tracks in deep snow, and places where deer had slept in snow.

The previous day's freezing rain, left the entire area coated with a thick layer of ice on the snow. The trees were not cold enough to freeze up, but where it hit the deep snow, ice was everywhere.

With the ploughed Ravine Road County Highway 13 in distance, there finally was some snowshoe tracks to follow on back to the road, so it was less slogging through the heavy snow.
