Delmar is a hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, in Albany County, New York, United States. It is a suburb of the neighboring city of Albany. The community is bisected by NY Route 443 (Delaware Avenue), a major thoroughfare, main street, and route to Albany.
A census-designated place (CDP) has been established since 1980 by the U.S. Census Bureau for tabulating the population of what the census has defined as the boundaries of the urbanized area in and around Delmar. The population was 8,292 at the 2000 census, but it was not included as a CDP in the 2010 census.
In 2005, CNN/Money Magazine named the Delmar ZIP Code (an area larger than the Delmar hamlet or CDP) as one of the “Best Places to Live” in America, rating it the 22nd best place to live among what it called “Great American Towns.
Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 54 degrees β in Delmarcation. π Calm wind. The dew point is 45 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 9 am.
I went to the Pine Bush dinner and it was an interesting presentation.Β π The Dunn Landfill is really bad news π° for Rennselear, especially the 200 trucks a day that rumble through the streets, starting in a big line at 6:30 AM every morning. It’s unfortunate that we live in a throw away everything society that when they demolish homes today, everything from the kitchen appliances to the old wood and brick go into the landfill.π Also George Keleshian’s presentation on so-called zero-energy, efficient buildings was interesting — he stressed conservation over generation of electricity, which was a refreshing change.
I have the Save the Pine Bush booth and will get that ready tomorrow. π¨ I also should probably think about running to the store as I’m very low on groceries. π² It looks like the display is in fairly good shape, but I want to make some more pictures up and run off some of the “coloring” book we are going to have for the kids there.π Looks like nice weather for the Lupine Festival on Saturday.π¦

Things got messed uptoday.π£ After riding the exercise bike for a while I was doing some work putting in the proper transistor on the light above my bed π‘ and I accidentally had a solder bridge and I sent 12 volts somewhere I shouldn’t and had some smoke and I burned up a hc-05 Bluetooth adapter. Fixing the mess I made took all afternoon and I never got things working right. π₯ I ended up reading π for a few hours this basically kids book about myths about wildlife and nature. But it still was interesting.
But I don’t think it matter that much, the weather wasn’t that nice yesterday. β I don’t think I missed much. If I can’t get those HC-05 modules to talk to each other I can always just get some more, they’re inexpensive. I’ll figure it out.π

While not a terrible evening I skipped my evening walk πΆ because it got late early. And I was just tired π΄ and dirty because I didn’t bother with a shower πΏ. I probably could have gone for a walk but five minutes after it got nice it got yucky again. Plus I did ride the bike for an hour in the morning and I was kind of into reading the book π that I had gotten out of the library on wildlife myths.

I am hopeful for better weather next weekend. βΊ If the weather improves I may head up to Pisceo Powley Road, the southern part open in the spring time. Then do a day trip Saturday to Little Falls. I could change my mind but it would be fun to see that area in early spring.

Not a particularly nice weekend for sure. π But summer is still approaching and I’m somewhat hopeful of getting out next weekend, possibly to the lower portion of Piseco-Powley Road and then down to Moss Island. The following weekend is the Lupine Festival and then Memorial Day Weekend for which if the weather is decent I’m leaning towards the East Branch Sacandaga again. But for this weekend I’ve made no real plans.

I had kind of booked this weekend to see my aunt but she wasn’t feeling well so she didn’t come to town. πͺBut I do want to replace the transistor on the light over my bed with the proper type of transistor for more light and less waste. It’s a simple soldering job but I have to pull the light down. π¬ Maybe do some reading π too.
