I thought about taking today and Friday off but with the front coming through, I decided it would be an awful cold and gray weekend. Plus going to work just is the default option, doesn’t require me to plan or spend money that I don’t have.

I was surprised how many are on the Express Bus 🚍 downtown – six. This is particularly surprising as the later bus I take is less popular and many of the regular customers stopped riding during the pandemic and after Voorheesville service ended. Maybe this will help make the service more sustainable.
Found an old Broken USB cable to use as a belt cable 🔌 to keep my wallet tied to my pants 👖. Seems silly but if it keeps me from loosing my wallet, all the better. I worried a lot about that yesterday.
Been working on building a PANDAS 🐼 dataset with party enrollment to make graphs and other data analysis. The hardest thing was downloading and parsing the PDFs but even that isn’t rocket 🚀 science. Python does all the hard work.
Today is starting out pretty nice but tomorrow will be quite rainy but then nice again next week ☀
I don’t feel like working five days next week, so I should take some time off. 😉 Not sure what that looks like, maybe I’ll go out to Madison County or somewhere in the Adirondacks. ⛺

Bus 🚍 was running a few minutes late and I became a bit concerned but we are making good speed downtown. Those hybrid buses are good on the bypass, they accelerate and stop real smoothly. 🚏
It seems like lately there has been a lot more traffic going through the Empire State Plaza 🚘 although maybe I’m just noticing it more taking the express bus 🚍. No real jams although I’m sure that will be an issue when the legislature is back in town.
My truck is back, the alignment wasn’t terribly off, ⚫ so now the next step is to order tires and get them put on my truck. I need to finalize my decision on that and then I will order them. Maybe today or next week depending on how busy I am. Honestly, I am in less of a rush to replace the tires now that I’m not heading down to West Virginia, as they can probably go another thousand miles or so, or until the end of November when my inspection is due.

It was nice taking off Friday and the long weekend, but I almost wish I took off more time this week. Thursday Big Red is going to the shop to get it’s alignment checked, and I will hopefully finally figure out what else is broken up front that continues to make things off alignment. 👨🔧 I thought it was Wednesday, but I checked my notes, which is good, as I can just drop it off tomorrow in the afternoon and not have to get up at 5 AM to drop it off at the shop by 7 AM on Thursday.
I still haven’t settled on the tires. ⚫ I am actually leaning against calling off my West Virginia trip in favor of some shorter trips, so I don’t think getting the new tires is quite as much of a rush. I mainly just didn’t want to drive on the rotted, worn tires to West Virginia, especially with the 70 mph interstate on the off chance I had a blow-out from hours and hours of driving and the rough roads. ⛽ Gas prices are part of my reason for changing my mind, plus autumn is fading quickly now, and I think I’d rather just do some shorter 4-day weekend type trips — Madison County, maybe the Tug Hill.
The weekend doesn’t look great, but I might stay in town to knock on some doors 👊 for local political candidates. Probably have to wear a muzzle but that’s fine, that’s just how things are these days. I think early voting starts this weekend, so it would be a good time to early vote, especially if I decide to head out of town on a future weekend. For example, it might be fun to create a four day weekend by taking off November 1st, as I have Election Day off to head out of town, and be away from the political craziness.

Heading downtown on the express bus 🚍. I am the only one on it but that’s mostly because the previous express came five minutes earlier – it was running about 25 minutes late. I was worried a bit about missing the bus as I was fine. Stumbled around this morning for a bit getting my contacts in 👀 and had to run to the store to get milk 🐮.
It’s not a half bad morning with the fog burning off downtown 🌫 and after putting my lunch in the office fridge, I’m heading out for a little walk on the Plaza. 🏢 I try to get in as many steps as I would doing the old school 🚸 based loop I did during the pandemic. Everything is so still in the reflecting pool and there is no sign of autumn in the city as it’s been so mild without a frost yet this year in the city.
