Over 25 Percent Of US EV Owners Install High-Voltage Chargers On Their Own

The study came out earlier this week conducted by PlugShare Research, the research division of the fee app that tells you where you can find charging stations in your area. One quarter of US-based EV drivers are taking on a big electrical project within their own home, which is generally something homeowners avoid. It’s possible to safely work with wires, but you really have to know what you’re doing to avoid messing things up in a big way.

Level 2 high-voltage chargers produce 208-240 volts. The same plugs are also used for powering ovens or stoves, central air conditioning systems, water heaters, and other appliances that take up a lot of power. To install a plug can require a person to modify electrical panels and even excavate. In a nutshell, it’s generally not something you’ll fiddle around with at home. The fact that a quarter of EV owners in the States have done it is really interesting.

Understanding the Electoral College

Understanding the Electoral College

American presidential elections are a strange beast. As the world was reminded in 2016, the candidate who wins the most votes overall won’t necessarily win the White House. For that, you can blame and/or thank the Electoral College.

More than 150 million people are expected to vote in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, but none of them will be casting a straightforward ballot for Donald Trump or Joe Biden. Both those candidates’ names will be on the ballot, of course. But when Americans go to vote for their preferred presidential candidate, they are actually voting for the state electors who have pledged to support that candidate in the Electoral College. Only in December do the 538 members of the Electoral College cast their votes for president, officially deciding who will take the oath of office in January.

October 27, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Final Tuesday in October. πŸŽƒ Next Tuesday is Election Day 2020 πŸ—³οΈ. Easy to forget if you don’t own one of those colored televisions. πŸ“Ί I probably should return my absentee ballot πŸ—³ soon. Certainly post mark it by next Tuesday.

Mostly because I want a check β˜‘ box next to two ought two ought on my buff card πŸ’³. Not like there are competive elections locally. I am still hoping to drop it off at the Early Vote site to save the 55 cents, if the crowds taper off. While there may be a separate drop off box πŸ—ƒ, I don’t want to be in crowds during a pandemic. πŸ‘ΎI figure my government file πŸ“‚ is big enough, might as well have some good things in it. I’m not hopeful at dropping the ballot off today, the line is over 500 feet before 9 o’clock. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦

Mostly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. β›… There is a northwest breeze at 9 mph. πŸƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Friday around 9 pm. β˜ƒοΈ

Out for my morning walk. 🚢🏻 Rain has stopped and it’s a pretty nice day. Colors in the mountains are faded. β›° After my walk I’m going to take a quick shower 🚿 and then head downtown 🚍 for the Tuesday meetings πŸ‘₯ and work sessions. Honestly it’s nice to have a real desk πŸ–₯ to work at especially with it being so cold and damp to work down at the library parking lot. πŸ…Ώ.

Today will have a slight chance of showers after 3pm. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 52 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around November 5th. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became mostly sunny by afternoon. The high last year was 54 degrees. The record high of 79 was set in 1963. 1.7 inches of snow fell back in 2016.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:40 pm with sun having an altitude of 34.4Β° from the due south horizon (-36.4Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 5:16 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (246Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-southwest (253Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:56 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 2 seconds with dusk around 6:23 pm, which is one minute and 24 seconds earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous πŸŒ” Moon in the east-southeast (118Β°) at an altitude of 18Β° from the horizon, 249,219 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and temperatures around 49 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 5 mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 28 minutes of daytime, a decrease of 2 minutes and 37 seconds over today.

Tonight will have a chance of showers, mainly between 7pm and 10pm. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a low of 38 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around October 22nd. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 45 degrees. The record low of 18 occurred back in 1974.

Governor Ronald Reagan in 1964 delivers a speech on behalf of the Republican candidate for president, Barry Goldwater. The speech launches his political career and comes to be known as “A Time for Choosing”. πŸ‘΄πŸ» πŸŽ€πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€πŸ’Ό Honestly much of the kookiness that was Goldwater grafted on to Billy Fuscillo became Trump. Biden is a throw back to an earlier era but I expect he’s competent and probably will be a power broker with all his experience in the Senate. I do hope Trump loses even though I don’t like Biden being unchecked.

Going to be cold but fairly sunny this weekend. ❄ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 46. Sunday, a chance of showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Typical average high for the weekend is 54 degrees.

I am thinking about going out to Brookfield this weekend to hunt πŸ‡πŸΏοΈand camp β›Ί but it depends on how much snow we get 🌨 as I am not ready to deal with icy and salt covered roads yet. Might be fun but cold though camping out on Halloween πŸ¦‡ πŸŽƒ πŸ‘» under a blue moon. πŸŒ• Maybe get candy 🍬 so I can give out to the kids that don’t stop by in the wilderness. But candy is good to eat πŸ˜‹ and watch the wrappers burn up in fire πŸ”₯.

As previously noted, next Tuesday is Election Day 2020 πŸ—³οΈ when the sun will be setting at 4:45 pm with dusk at 5:14 pm (Standard Time). On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 53 and 30 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 53 degrees. We hit a record high of 75 back in 1990.
