‘Warranty Void If Removed’? As It Turns Out, Feds Say Those Warnings Are Illegal

"Provisions that tie warranty coverage to the use of particular products or services harm both consumers who pay more for them as well as the small businesses who offer competing products and services," Thomas B. Pahl, acting director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, said in a statement released Tuesday."

"Specifically, the agency explained, those provisions violate the 1975 Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which bars companies from conditioning their warranties on demands that consumers use certain articles or services in connection with the original product."

April 12, 2018 – Next Sixteen Weeks

While lately it’s been pretty cool to start out the spring season, the weather is slowly but surely moderating.🌼🌻🌹🌺 This time of year sees the quickest average increases in warmth, and indeed with the lack of freezing temperatures over the next week, we should soon start to see some greening up of the landscape, at least in the city.

April 12, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Almost feels like spring today. Mostly sunny and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. β˜€Calm wind.

It’s a really nice almost spring like morning, and as such I walked down to the express bus as I got up by the normal time and didn’t keep hitting the snooze button. 🚌 Definitely a nice walk today, good exercise too. I’m trying to do some more walking as it’s good and healthy.

Today will have a chance of light rain before 3pm, then rain, mainly after 3pm. 💧β˜”High of 56 degrees at 5pm. One degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 41 at 6pm. 🏖️ Light southeast wind becoming south 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies, clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 84 was set in 1977. 3.3 inches of snow fell back in 1962.❄

The sun will set at 7:34 pm with dusk around 8:03 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for rain ☁ and 53 degrees. There will be a south breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 17 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 47 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy β˜” , with a low of 46 degrees at 6am. Seven degrees above normal. South wind 11 to 14 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 19 occurred back in 1874.

Lots of road work on 787 again as they work to maintain the half century old expressway along the river. 👷🚧 The politicians say that mass motoring will go on forever and even when cheap gasoline runs out as we will go to electric cars, but I have my doubts. Maybe. Also traffic is slow going through the plaza.

Got my brighter LED light board soldered together last night. It works great although it’s almost too bright:idea: to use on my night stand, so I don’t know if I will use it for that purpose. But it’s good practicing with soldering and it’s a way to use those warm white LEDs that I really like they look. Now I just need some kind of lumiere to put them in.

I’m getting the hang of building electronics but I often struggle with figuring out how to package them up and make them look pretty 📂with stuff I have around home.

My next project is to build another one of those message display boards now that the one is in my office. I plan to build another board on perfboard using the Arduino Nano. 🔬The next board will include a memory chip so I can display more messages for my project.

Washed and gased up my truck than went shopping. Gas prices are creeping up again after several years of being fairly low. β›½I guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter to me, I take the bus in most days so it’s just for fun that I’m burning gas. The higher prices will just be worked into the budget. 🚿 I washed the truck off once again last night but there is still some salt on the road so I don’t know if I won’t have to wash it again come next week.

I still really like the self check outs at Walmart. They are quick and easy with never a line or a store clerk to drop and break things. 🍎🍊🍌I find myself shopping at both Walmart and Price Chopper these days as neither store has everything I need.👕I wanted to get some long sleeve shirts at Walmart but all they had was really crappy Chinese made lightweight summer shirts there. Disappointed as I really liked their heavier winter Wrangler shirts. They last well and are a nice material for the most part.

Nice evening out for the evening walk last night. 🌌Lots of stars and almost spring like although maybe a bit chilly for mid April. The air had that light smell of barnyard,🚜🐮 the farm down the road must be spreading manure.

With all the sun and the warmth this morning, 😎 its hard to believe that that it will cloud up and rain this evening. 💦 Rain is good though as it means things won’t get too dried out before things green up. Not seeing any frost in the forecast the next few days but so far I’ve not seen much green in the grass either. 🌾🌷

At any rate, I think spring is still just around the corner, even though it usually comes late to the Adirondacks.🗻 I still am looking forward to camping and traveling but not this week due to having to work. But Saturday will have some excellent weather for sure.

There are 7 months until Veterans Day Observed (Monday) 🇺🇸 when the sun will be setting at 4:35 pm with dusk at 5:05 pm (Standard Time). This will probably be my November camping trip, I’ll likely be in West Virginia. Should be fun.

Well folks, the express bus is faster so I’m almost to work. Have a great day!
