Early Spring
It looks like April will be cool but fairly dry
It looks like April will be cool but fairly dry. That’s actually not a good thing, because this spring has been quite dry locally.
Dry spring
This has been a quite dry spring for much of New York, although the recent snow has at least increased the moisture levels in the soil.
Melting Away on the East Branch
I am continuing to monitor the snow depth along the East Branch. Still a fair amount of snow in that part of the Adirondacks, but it is rapidly melting away.
Still a lot of snow around on April 1st
As you can see, while the snow is gone from the Albany-area, and most of Albany County on this April Fools Day in 2019, there is still quite a bit of snow in most of the Adirondacks, and even Southern Madison County. Fortunately though, I wasn’t planning on doing any road trips for camping for at least a few more weeks.
Mild and Rainy End to March ?
It looks like at least in New York, we will end out this month fairly warm and rainy. I’m ready for the salt to be washed off the roads, and for things to start greening up — at least in a month — in the city.
Winter Comes to a Close ?
All the evidence points to the snow being gone from the greater Capital Region, for the year, although there are many points up north that still have upwards of two feet of snow on the ground. But unless we have an unexpected snow storm further out, the 10-day forecast suggests only more melting. Maybe are done with winter. Or maybe not.
