August 29, 2016 10 PM Update

Good evening! Clear and 70 degrees in Delmar. There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. The dew point is 60 degrees. Not a bad evening, my neighbors have a fire going. I probably should have stopped by and said hello  but I instead retired to bed.

Tonight will have patchy fog after 1am. Otherwise, clear, with a low of 55 degrees at 3am. Three degrees below normal. Maximum dew point of 60 at 10pm. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1982.

Waning Crescent Moon tonight with 15% illuminated. The moon will rise around 3:51 am. The New Moon is on Thursday at 9:03 am with partly cloudy skies expected. The Full β€œCorn” Moon is on Friday, September 16th at 7:05 pm.

Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high of 82 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal. Warm but low humidity. Maximum dew point of 58 at 8am. Light and variable wind. The record high of 98 was set in 1953.

The sun will rise at 6:18 am with the first light at 5:49 am, which is 1 minutes and 5 seconds later then yesterday.

August 29, 2016 Night

In four weeks on September 26 the sun will be setting at 6:43 pm, which is 49 minutes earlier then tonight. Which is depressing enough. But wait, there is more. The average high is 68 degrees, and the record for that date is 89 degrees was set back in 2007. I guess in a month, fall will be well underway. By then much of the leaves will be gone at Moose River Plains.

August 29, 2016 Evening

This should be a very pleasant evening. At sunset, look for clear conditions and 76 degrees. The dew point will be 59 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph.

While it will be a nice evening, darkness will overtake the land early. The sun will set at 7:32 pm with dusk around 8:02 pm, which is 1 minutes and 41 seconds earlier than yesterday.

Good for looking at the stars though. Nautical twilight tonight is atΒ 8:37 pm. After which, the stars should be nice and clear, under low humidity conditions.Β If you get up early in the morning tomorrow, look for the Waning Crescent Moon before dawn.

The New Moon is on Thursday at 9:03 am with partly cloudy skies expected. The Full β€œCorn” Moon is on Friday, September 16th at 7:05 pm.

August 29, 2016 9 AM Update

On this day in 1966, the Beatles perform their last concert before paying fans at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. After this, if you wanted to hear the Beatles, you had to listen to them on vinyl records or AM radio. Their next album would be Sargent Pepper’s Lonely Club Heart band, and it would have a dramatically different sound then the Love, Love Me Do records.

Also, Happy Birthday to Charles Kettering of the General …

Charles Franklin Kettering, the American engineer and longtime director of research for General Motors Corp. (GM), is born on August 29, 1876, in Loudonville, Ohio. Of the 140 patents Kettering obtained over the course of his lifetime, perhaps the most notable was his electric self-starter for the automobile, patented in 1915.
