A precursor to today’s America’s Great Outdoor Initiative, which encourages families to get outdoors, it hit the outdoor nail on the proverbial head. Read on to see The Soft American in its entirety…
Years after he took that pill in Ibiza, Grammy nominee Mike Posner left behind his life in L.A. to go on a 2,851-mile journey in search of... something. Here's what he learned about grief, motivation, struggle, and authenticity.
I've been thinking about doing a 50-mile hike at some point, maybe next year, but I would have to figure out where I want to go. There certainly are a lot of choices from the Finger Lakes Trail to the North Country to others in New York with lean-tos and places to camp along the way.
I think the space force will help increase funding and research into remote sensing and help improve weather prediction and climate change / pollution monitoring. Often military programs are better funded than civilian programs but research and development of the military can serve many purposes benefiting humanity.
Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. πͺ Fords don’t celebrate this day. π Next Wednesday is the Save the Pine Bush Dinner π² and BakeCookies Day πͺ. I guess it’s good that I went skiing last weekend. πΏ The rail trail at this point looks pretty bare. I’m really hoping that the snow is gone for the end of the month for my Finger Lakes trip as that will mean more roads are open to explore but cold enough that the ground is frozen. That said I’m prepared for whatever except bad snow covered roads.

Today in 1997, The Kyoto Protocol opens for signature. π The US would never ratify the agreement, and while some countries would participate, it was a lot of talk and not a lot of action. People like to blow a lot of green smoke but when it comes to concrete action like raising the price on fossil fuels and energy more generally β‘they just have blank stares. They’re all for climate action if it doesn’t impact their favored groups. All we can hope for is cheap oil β½ to run out sooner than later. Cheap fossil energy is a lot harder to swap out than ozone depleting refrigerants and propellants.π¦¨
