February 9, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south breeze at 7 mph. 🍃. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. β˜ƒ Right around freezing now so snow later but it will turn to rain for the morning commute. ️Things will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 5 am. 🌡️

Got most of the things I had on my weekend done. 📖 Did a fair amount of walking 🚶 and the new flux pen I got really helps on that cheap perf board that I got and wasn’t taking solder well. I can probably get a jar of flux to refill the pen later on. With the extra flux I should try the lead free solder too. Not great day at Schodack Island State Park, kind of gray but it’s always fun being back along the river there. 🐦

Tonight will snow, mainly after 11pm. 🌨 Low of 32 degrees at 9pm. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 29th. Mild enough that I doubt they’ll be any issues with the snow come morning. Maybe slush on the sidewalks. South wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 17 degrees. The record low of -21 occurred back in 1948.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous 🌖 Moon with 99% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the east (100Β°) at an altitude of 33Β° from the horizon, some 227,819 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. 🚀 At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by July 31st. Really is kind of a super moon. Buckle up for safety! 💺 The Snow ❄ Moon is on Tuesday, February 25. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:33 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:02 am in the east-southeast (110Β°) and last for 3 minutes and 5 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 15 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:42 am with sun in the east-southeast (117Β°). Tonight will have 13 hours and 40 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will snow before 9am, then rain and snow likely between 9am and 11am, then a chance of rain after 11am. 🌧 High of 43 degrees at 2pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 12th. That sounds really mild and it is but this winter hasn’t been super cold and March is only three weeks away. Not seeing a lot of cold in the mean time. South wind 8 to 11 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 53 was set in 1955. 4 inches of snow fell back in 1892.❄

In four weeks on March 8 the sun will be setting in the west (265Β°) at 6:54 pm (Daylight Savings Time),🌄 which is one hour, 35 minutes and 18 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had a rather cold day, but mostly sunny and temperatures between 34 and 7 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 41 and 23 degrees. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2012.

Looking ahead, March 🌨 is in 3 weeks, Daylight Savings Time 🌆 is in 4 weeks, Worm Moon 🌕 is a month away, Ides of March ✝ is in 5 weeks, Palm Sunday 🌴 is in 8 weeks, Easter 🐰 is in 9 weeks, Mothers Day 👩‍ is in 13 weeks, Pack Rat Day 🐀 is in 14 weeks, Strawberry Moon 🌕 is in 17 weeks and Fathers Day 👨 is in 18 weeks.

🇺🇸🦅Only 102 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!🦅🇺🇸

I actually kind of like these gray winter days… ☁

The colors are soft earth tones. The land is real, it is exposed. Cold to a degree but it reminds us of our toughness. The air has a tinge of earth and manure on it, you can almost taste it in your tongue. Things are frozen, they are dorment for a few more months until the seasons change once again. There is a kind of stillness to the woods only occasionally broken.
