Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 33 degrees in Delmar. β There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. π. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. β οΈThe skies will clear Monday around 5 pm. Enjoy the relatively mild weather now before the rain and ice begins tonight, followed by some strong wind gusts and cold but sunny weather for the work week.
This morning was the Pine Bush hike π²but I was the only one who showed up so I enjoyed the hike by myself. Gave me more time to enjoy nature. Later on I came home, had some lunch and then had a bit of a sick stomach. π© Felt sick after lunch, I wonder though if it was something I ate because as quick as I was sick I started feeling better. Later on I went down to the library for a bit to upload some new maps.
This evening I had fish sticks and mixed vegatables for dinner, πthen rode the excerise bike for a while, π΄maybe 45 minutes watching some YouTube videos I downloaded, π₯then laid back in bed for a while before deciding to go for my evening walk. Figured I should get out and get as much excerise as possible before tomorrow’s rain and the busy work week ahead.π¦
Tonight will rain, snow, freezing rain, and sleet likely before 3am, then rain or freezing rain between 3am and 4am, then rain after 4am. π¨ Low of 30 degrees at 11pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical night around March 27th. Southeast wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.β In 2018, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of -11 occurred back in 1894.
Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous Moon π with 63% illuminated with the moon rising at 10:39 pm. The moon will set at 9:45 am. The Last Quarter Moon is on Monday night with mostly cloudy skies. The Worm Moon π is on Tuesday, March 19th. Last full moon of calendar winter. The sun will rise at 6:39 am with the first light at 6:10 am, which is one minute and 33 seconds earlier than yesterday. π So early this time of year. Tonight will have 12 hours and 59 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 48 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will rain, mainly before 2pm. π§ We could use some rain and best of all, it’s not snow. High of 47 degrees at 4pm. 10 degrees above normal, which is similiar to a typical day around March 22nd. I’ll take it, especially if the rain stops relatively early. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 46 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 2017. 8.0 inches of snow fell back in 1962.β
Tomorrow I have to do some grocery shopping, πand maybe wash off my truck before heading out my parents house for Sunday dinner. Then I’ll probably come home an skip my evening walk in favor of the exercise bike especially if it’s going to be as windy as predicted. The wind will probably be pretty cold and I might lose power so I should probably figure on turning up the heat before I go out tomorrow. πΎ Maybe it’s good after all that the landlord cut down all the trees in the yard, none to likely fall on Big Red.
Should be a busy week next week with work, πbut I’m fine with being really busy. It’s good to get a lot of things done, it will make me feel very accomplished. And the week will go by quickly – especially with Friday being March 1st. I’m really looking forward to the snow melting and spending more nights in the wilderness.
In four weeks on March 23 the sun will be setting at 7:11 pm (Daylight Savings Time),π which is one hour, 33 minutes and 28 seconds later then tonight. In 2018 on that day, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 43 and 30 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 47 and 28 degrees. The record high of 80 degrees was set back in 1938.
March is fine but unless I have a slow week at work and I can get out of town for the weekend,βΊ I’m not that sure there will be any big adventures on tap. I think most likely the first time I’ll get truck cap camping out of town will be in April. I am however interested in hiking Platte Clove Road, should the snow melt before it opens to cars for the season,π» but that’s more of a day trip than anything else.
I looked and discovered a replacement for the battery for my phone would only be $5, π±so I think I’m going to order one. πThe headphone jack has been long broken on the phone, it’s always running low on memory and the power jack is on its way out but I want to wait a while before I plunk down the $50 to replace my phone. These tracphones aren’t expensive to replace but I hate to spend money and throw away something that I can get more from use out of despite its flaws. Works good enough for me.
Despite my high heating bill last month, πΈ overall my budget was pretty much spot on as I didn’t do any big road trips or buy anything expensive. I am hoping to live within my means again this month, because I’m sure come April I will be traveling a lot again, and those camping trips and nights in the wilderness ain’t cheap even if they are special to me. π Big Red is thirsty, and all that beer and food adds up. Although who knows, I’ve really cut back on drinking in the past year.
Looking ahead, Arbor Day π³ is in 9 weeks, 8 PM Sunset π is in 10 weeks, June πΉ is in 14 weeks, Average High is 80 π is in 17 weeks, Hottest Time of the Year π is in 20 weeks and Average High Falls To 79 οΈDegrees β±οΈοΈοΈ is in 26 weeks.
Good night, sleep well.
