Three Weeks Out – September 7, 2018

In one week, which is September 14th, back in 1963 the mercury dropped below freezing — to 32 degrees. Summer won’t last forever. Granted, freezing temperatures are exceptionally rare in mid-September in Albany, they aren’t some kind of impossible notion that never happens. The average high is 73 degrees with a low of 52 degrees, so if the weather is typical, you won’t need your thermal underwear yet.

In three weeks on September 28 the sun will be setting at 6:40 pm, which is 49 minutes earlier then today. The average high is 67 degrees, and the record for that date is 83 degrees was set not that long ago back in 2014.

Columbus Day is Monday, October 8th this year. That’s only 30 days away. That should be peak color in many of the lower elevations, although I’m sure it will just be mostly bare trees at Moose River Plains at that point.

Good morning! Already found our way into overdrive, it’s a Friday! Always the busiest day in the office, my last in Albany for a while. Two weeks to the Average High is 70 🎑. It gets cold and dark quickly as autumn gets underway, especially in Trump’s America. Dark and cloudy with a few rain showers and 65 degrees in Delmar. ☁ Calm wind. The dew point is 61 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am.

Today will be partly sunny 🌞 , with a high of 78 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 61 at 7am. Light northwest wind. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 70 degrees. The record high of 96 was set in 1945.

The sun will set at 7:18 pm with dusk around 7:47 pm, which is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌇 I was noting how it’s pitch black when I left the office at 7:30 last night. At sunset, look for partly clear skies and 72 degrees. The dew point will be 59 degrees. Finally a pleasant evening. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 51 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ☁, with a low of 59 degrees at 4am. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 60 at 6pm. North wind around 5 mph. In 2017, we had partly cloudy skies. It got down to 49 degrees. The record low of 34 occurred back in 1978.

After getting home late from work last night, did some more cleaning and packing, going through and cleaning more of my truck, and the bathroom🚘 I want to have the stuff I need in my truck but not a lot of clutter – plus have everything carefully inventoried and ready for my November trip🚿, which is now nine weeks away, assuming I leave the Friday before Veterans Day.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High 70 🎑 when the sun will be setting at 6:53 pm with dusk at 7:21 pm. On that day in 2017, we had mist, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 81 and 63 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1895.
