July 26, 2018 Evening

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 84 degrees in Albany. β›… There is a west breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 66 degrees. The muggy weather ends Sunday around 10 am. 😓

Heading home on the local, to pick up my truck after getting a hair cut this morning. Going to stop at the store, get some laundry soap, then heading off the laundromat. 👕 I bought some soap last time, but when I got home I discovered it was fabric softer and not soap.

Once the laundromat is done, I’m heading home, and then I’ll start getting packed. Not a lot of things to pack, just some clothes and other supplies. I think I will run to Walmart to kick up that propane line I need, plus a little bit of food for Friday and Saturday. I will drive out to Madison County for a quick overnight on Friday,🌇 then Montezuma and the Finger Lakes on Saturday. 🐦🕊 While it’s a longer trip, this will split the trip up, as I always like the trip out along US Route 20. 📷The trip from Seneca Falls down to the National Forest is a bit more boring, but so be it. Beats going through Ithaca.

Definately looking forward to my trip, as it’s been a long week and I need to get away. Granted, last weekend I was up the Adirondacks, 🏔 but the Finger Lakes are a very different experience for a change. Eight nights. Maybe I’ll end up in Pennsylvania by the end of the week, but I have my doubts at this point. I think this trip will be primarily in the Finger Lakes, with the November trip I take primarily in Western NY and maybe the Allegheny National Forest.β›Ί

It’s just nice to be in the back country, doing things myself, my own way. Not being in the city, having to rely on others all of the time. Cooking, camping, enjoying life in my own space for a while. 🍳 I’m just burnt out after this week. And things are going to be even more difficult come back when I return. But it’s a week away from it all. The traffic, the noise, the stress and craziness of Albany.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌞 , with a low of 68 degrees at 5am. Six degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 66 at 8pm. West wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Kind of a muggy evening, but so goes summer. In 2017, we had mostly clear skies with more clouds in the early hours of the next day. It got down to 63 degrees. The record low of 47 occurred back in 1977.

The sun will set at 8:21 pm with dusk around 8:53 pm, which is one minute earlier than yesterday. 🌇 At sunset, look for mostly clear skies and 80 degrees. The dew point will be 66 degrees.

Tomorrow will be scattered showers before noon, then scattered showers and thunderstorms between noon and 4pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, partly sunny 😎, with a high of 84 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 69 at 1pm. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly cloudy skies. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 97 was set in 1955.

On this day in 2007, Shambo, a black cow in Wales that had been adopted by the local Hindu community, is slaughtered due to a bovine tuberculosis infection, causing widespread controversy.🐂 Preventing the spread of bovine TB is probably much more important then some religious tradition. And in 1948, U.S. President Harry S. Truman signs Executive Order 9981 desegregating the military of the United States. 👬 It would be one step in many in protecting the rights of minority races in our country.

Looking ahead, there are 7 weeks until State Primary Day 🗳️ when the sun will be setting at 7:07 pm with dusk at 7:35 pm. On that day in 2017, we had rain, fog, shallow fog, patches of fog, mist, mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 79 and 50 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 73 degrees. I don’t how many primaries there will be locally, except over the Emperor of the Emperor’s Plaza. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1948.
