Good morning! Happy 37th Birthday to me 🎉! Yeah, I’m getting old 👴 and honestly when your in your late thirties it gets hard to remember how old you are because the difference isn’t great. Old enough to buy Budwiser 🍻 at the corner store and shop at the gun store 🔫 but too young for social security and Medicare by three decades. Three weeks to February Save the Pine Dinner 🠼񲰮 It’s their 42nd birthday celebration and they’re still bulldozing the Pine Bush for more suburbanites housing.

Partly cloudy and 29 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… The sun is kind of pretty this morning, it’s like that picture I posted with the clouds and the tree yesterday. Not too cold either for late January but this month has been one of the warmest on record, especially the nights. There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. 🌡๏ธ

Looking out at the Norman’s Kill from the Delaware Avenue Bridge 🌉. It is pretty with the sunlight in this morning. Listening to John Denver and Farewall Andromeda. Welcome to my morning. I was up pretty early to take a poop 💩 and I made coffee โ˜• which was strong 💪. Strong coffee though is a lot like what the Love of the Land said about hay, cattle and manure. โ™ป Regardless, it’s a nice morning and I’m going to make the most of my day to advance my future.

As much as I want to move on beyond Albany to a place like a Missouri or the west, where there is a lot more cheaper land and less government 🌆 I’m quite fine with doing my best in Albany for my future. I really doubt I’ll be in Albany beyond age 50 because as much as I like the money 💵 and the promise of a good pension (if I ever return back to government service) there is a lot of the world left to explore 🌍 and places to live where the people and their government agree 👍 more with my values. I’m no conservative but I do look forward to a change beyond the limited horizons of New York. I watch too many videos off off gridders and cattle farmers on the YouTube. 📹

Today will be mostly cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing 🌞, with a high of 35 degrees at 1pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 15th. Northwest wind around 9 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 29 degrees. The record high of 54 was set in 2002. 8.3 inches of snow fell back in 1990.โ„

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:09 pm with sun having an altitude of 29.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-41.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). At sunset, look for mostly clear skies 🌄 and temperatures around 31 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 9 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 51 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 15 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌃, with a low of 9 degrees at 5am. Six degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 5 at 3am; North wind 5 to 8 mph. Chilly night for a change, I might want to nudge the heat up a bit. โ™จ Although I’ll be fine as is, going to warm up tomorrow again. In 2019, we had light snow in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 1 degrees. The record low of -12 occurred back in 1965.

The weekend forecast has improved at least for Sunday. โ˜€Except that’s bad news for Ground Hog Day. 🐻 Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 32 degrees. Already we are climbing out of the bear of winter and while we can get extremely cold weather come February into March, it usually doesn’t last long.

🌹🌻🌼Only 50 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until February Save the Pine Dinner 🦋 when the sun will be setting at 5:31 pm with dusk at 6:00 pm. January 23, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sunny and not too cold without any wind. A pleasant morning for January. Two weeks to Save the Pine Bush Turns 42 🦋. Partly sunny and 18 degrees in Delmar, NY. Calm wind. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out around 10 am. 🌡๏ธ

Woke up this morning and I was surprisingly groggy. 😴 Not sure why but the coffee certainly helped. โ˜• It was a bit of a run to the bus stop 🚏but I made it in time and double checked to make sure the waffle iron, stove and refrigerator were closed or off as they should be. The heat was turned down and porch light is switched on so it will come on at dusk. ๐Ÿ’ก

Today will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a high of 40 degrees at 1pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 4th. Calm wind. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 40 degrees. The record high of 64 was set in 1906. 10.6 inches of snow fell back in 1963.โ„

So a nice start to the morning but it’s not expected to last. โ›… But at least it will be relatively mild and give the heat a little bit of a break. Sun is certainly nice pouring through the bus window. Gives me hope that maybe the Ground Hog 🐻won’t see his shadow and maybe spring is just around the corner. Maybe that’s wishful thinking 💭 but all things must past and you must embrace things before they’re forever gone.

I can complain about the January weather and all things Albany but when the time comes to move on you know I’ll probably miss it a lot 🌉. Chet’s from Save the Pine Bush death is sad ๐Ÿ˜ and Resin Adam’s is so elderly now. It’s 2020 and so much of the old world I once knew it’s fading in the distance, although it would be a mistake to say that the olden days were golden. 🌇 Looking forward to my 37th birthday next week 🎂 although I’m looking more forward to a few more years out when I can own my own land. 🏡

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:08 pm with sun having an altitude of 27.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-43ยฐ vs. 6/21). At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 38 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 9 hours and 38 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes over yesterday.

Good evening! Partly clear and 19 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 5 mph. 🍃. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around 1 pm. 🌡๏ธ

I decided to stay home tonight, ride the exercise bike 🚲 for a while, have some dinner and read 📖. There are other things that I could have done but I was tired 😴 and decided to call it a night early. Almost done reading that book on Storm Lake Iowa. 🌽 Reminds me a lot of the colorful people I knew growing up in a small town.

Sink seems to have freed itself up but I’m going to avoid using it and will go out tomorrow and get more drain solvent after the Guilderland Planning Board meeting I’m attending. No need to make multiple trips. 🛀 I got a little paranoid when I opened my mailbox 📬and saw an add for a plumber – they’re reading my blog – and marketing to me but the truth is I only mentioned it in the morning and it came as a large flat in the bulk mail. At any rate, if it was a serious problem I’d call my landlord 📞 and he’d have it fixed quickly. Nice thing about renting although the plumbing is constantly problematic here.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌤, with a low of 12 degrees at 1am. Two degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 11 at 8pm; West wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 0 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1984.

Tonight will have a Waning Crescent 🌒 Moon with 7% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:07 am, followed by dawn at 6:49 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:20 am in the east-southeast (117ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Sunrise is 40 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 8:03 am with sun in the southeast (124ยฐ) at an altitude of 6ยฐ. Tonight will have 14 hours and 24 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 57 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 36 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 19th. South wind 3 to 5 mph. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 18 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1906. 12.9 inches of snow fell back in 1987.โ„

It really kills me how much paper garbage I get in my mailbox 📮 every day. Yeah, I have a milk crate where I toss all the non confidential paper trash into and I take it to the recycling dumpster at the park and ride โ™ป every few weeks but by then the bin usually is already overflowing in my apartment and the paper recycle dumpster is pretty full most of the time too. And while they pulp and recycle the waste fiber a lot of it still ends as residue taken to the Colonie landfill. Recycling produces a lot of waste too. Even if I heat with wood when I eventually own my off grid property and use paper every night to start the fire I’ll always have an unlimited supply of waste paper for starting the wood stove just from the junk mail. 🔥 And half of that mail โœ‰ is the glossy stuff that is half clay and produces a ton of ash when burnt and is not good with the glossy coating to burn inside in a woodstove. I guess that the burn barrel can take care of it when I have my own land but it seems like such a waste to cut down all those trees just to burn off the carbon for no real reason. At least no Time Warner Cable ad today but I’m sure there will be one tomorrow.

In four weeks on February 18 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (255ยฐ) at 5:30 pm,🌄 which is 36 minutes and 26 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had snow showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 26 and 13 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 35 and 18 degrees. In another month, it definitely starts to warm up a bit. The record high of 63 degrees was set back in 1981.

Looking ahead, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day 🥛 is in 3 weeks, National Drink Wine Day 🍷 is in 4 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 is in 8 weeks, 7:30 PM Sunset 🌇 is in 11 weeks, Cinco de Mayo 🤠 is in 15 weeks, Primary Day 🗳๏ธ is in 22 weeks, Election Day 2020 🗳๏ธ is in 41 weeks and Election Day 2020 🗳๏ธ is in 41 weeks.

January 21, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Back to work after the long holiday weekend. Presidents Day is four weeks off and maybe by then the cold and snow will moderate although that’s probably not likely to happen as it’s been a pretty warm winter so far and that’s subject to change in the sense that it needs to balance out. Three weeks to Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day ๐Ÿฅ›. Just hose it on down and spread it on the fields. ๐ŸŒฝ Sunny and 8 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. With the sun and lack of breeze doesn’t feel real cold outside but it will probably be windy downtown as it always is. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ ๏ธThings will start to thaw out at tomorrow around noontime. ๐ŸŒก๏ธ

Despite the cold, I didn’t wear a suit jacket under my outer-coat, ๐Ÿ•ดas I left one in the office last week. Feels kind of strange not to be wearing it, but you wouldn’t know under the overcoat. I figured why have two in the office right now, the one I have at work is clean enough, and I can wear it home tonight after work. Last year I left a jacket at work and had one I rode back and forth on the bus and to after work receptions, but I don’t think that’s necessary until it’s warm enough that I’m wearing the suit jacket back and forth on the bus without the outercoat, then I’ll reserve the suit jacket for that time of year.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 26 degrees at 2pm. Four degrees below normal. Northwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Cold compared to later in the week but not terribly cold for mid to late January. Warm enough, I turned the heat back a bit because with the sun it will override, and I don’t need to be heating an empty building too much, especially if it’s warm enough come the evening. Gotta save money where you can. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 5 degrees. The record high of 61 was set in 2006. 7.2 inches of snow fell back in 1990.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:07 pm with sun having an altitude of 27.4ยฐ from the due south horizon (-43.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 4:11 pm with the sun in the southwest (236ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-southwest (243ยฐ) starting at 4:51 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 15 seconds with dusk around 5:24 pm, which is one minute and 15 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 5:59 pm. At sunset, look for partly sunny skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 26 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 34 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 55 seconds over yesterday. We are gaining sunlight quickly.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 13 degrees at 6am. One degree below normal. Maximum wind chill around 19 at 9pm; Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 0 degrees.ย  That’s no temperature, right? Lol. Or is there something broken in my software that reads the temperature records? I should investigate. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1984.

This evening after work ๐ŸŒƒ I’ll run to the store and get more drain solvent as the drain is clearing but still much too slowly. ๐Ÿšฐ Annoying that I forgot to buy it as I hate driving on weekdays but the store ain’t more than a five minute drive from home. ๐Ÿ›€ Been keeping water out of the drain, capturing it in a bowl so that when I add solvent it won’t be too diluted.๐Ÿงช With all the sun today, I expect that relay will be activated and both the starting and accessory batteries will be fully charged when I go to turn the key. The voltage switch works well, but often I find the shadows of the trees with the low sun angle don’t make up for the losses when charging a cold battery.๐Ÿ”‹

Rain and snow this weekend but generally quite mild with temperatures feeling more like March than January. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Saturday, a chance of rain and snow after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Sunday, rain and snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Typical average high for the weekend is 31 degrees.

Pine Bush Hike is Saturday ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ as is the March for Peace โœŒ downtown against Iran. Might lead the hike and catch a bus downtown. ๐Ÿš It would be fun to join the protest and I could use my peace flag, that I don’t display all that often but might have more of a chance in the coming year. โ˜ฎ I wish they would do the vigils later at Four Corners, but they’re now at 4 PM on Monday due to the early sunset, so I don’t get out of work in time to join them. Standing up against the war in Iraq is important.

๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผOnly 58 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผ

Good evening! Clear and 9 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 8 mph. 🍃. The current wind chill is -3. There is a dusting of snow on the ground. โ˜ƒ Things will start to thaw out at Sunday around 7 am. 🌡๏ธ Chilly evening out and tomorrow should be fairly cold too before the snow storm.

Kind of a cold night 🌃 for sure. I decided to cancel my plans tonight for going over to John Wolcott house and stay home because I’m afraid I’m starting to get another cold that’s been going around the office. 😨 I actually don’t know my congestion might just be from running outside in the cold or just pretending I’m sick as it’s Friday and I’m tired after a long week at work. Sometimes I feel sick when I’m just over tired. 😴 Volunteers can take time off too.

I told my parents I’d meet them for breakfast tomorrow but it depends on how I feel come the morning. 🍳 If I feel better after a good night’s sleep I’ll join them then go for a hike – I’m thinking Kehler Preserve but maybe just Bennett Hill then run to the grocery store 🏬 before the snow starts and the library later to get a book or two to read 📖. I’ve been feeling good lately but I’m afraid I might have picked up another cold with a little congestion this evening. That could easily cancel out tomorrow. I’m hoping a good night sleep and a early rise tomorrow will cancel that out. 💤

Tonight will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a low of 3 degrees at 11pm. 11 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around -3 at 8pm; Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -19 occurred back in 1957.

Tomorrow will snow, mainly after 2pm. 🌨 High of 24 degrees at 6pm. Five degrees below normal. Light and variable wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1973. 7.9 inches of snow fell back in 1891.โ„ Not looking at a big snow storm from this one but it might be cold enough next week to last much of the week, assuming we don’t loose most of it Sunday.

Ever since lubricating my exercise bike 🚲 it’s been much quieter lately. I did ride it for about an hour watching a video of Keith Fink farm pulling a calve 🐮 and then a video on chopping a deer and what that Ohio Prepper guy is doing with his cabin. Demolition ranch too. 🔫 Fun stuff. 🎥

I may have to adjust the bike or ride it less though as I’ve been noticing a lot of stiffness in my knees after riding for a few hours, almost making the stairs a bit difficult this morning. 💪 I rode for over two hours last night but come morning I was not painful in my knees but just stiff. I don’t like watching video unless I’m on the bike 🚲. Got better the next few times up the stairs. Its been an issue since I got Lyme disease although lately all the other symptoms have gone away. The inflammation after the Lyme bacteria can take a while to go away I’ve heard. 🐜

If not for the snow I would definitely have gone out camping in Madison County โ›บ but I didn’t want to camp through a heavy snow storm even down not that far from the asphalt road. Not that snow fall is going to be that significant but it could be worse there and it adds up. I’m almost ready to say no more camping until April but it will all depend on the weather come February. Next week is the Pine Bush hike 🌲I’m leading and being a two day weekend with a good threat of snow โ„ I’ll probably stay in town. Makes up for all the heat I’m burning tonight to stay warm.

January 17, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! If you look through the cold blue skies you can see the weekend not that far in the distance. Four weeks to Valentines Day โค๏ธ. Sunny and 12 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 Breezy, ๏ธ16 mph breeze from the northwest 🌬 . The current wind chill is -5. No snow on the ground but it is frozen hard. 🍃 Going to be cold the next few days and the frackers will get rich or so I’m told by the people who want to stop the pipeline. โ›” Things will start to thaw out at Sunday around 8 am. 🌡๏ธ

Cold morning โ„ but that’s to be expected on the coldest week of the year. That said with the heat turned in the past last night it felt quite comfortable so no complaints there. I had pancakes for breakfast 🍳 and was out early getting milk from Stewarts 🐮. Honestly before sunrise 🌅 this morning it was quite nice even if the mercury was low because the wind had died down before dawn.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 21 degrees at 2pm. Nine degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 0 at 10am; Northwest wind 13 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. So does that mean no wind chill? A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 62 was set in 1889. 10.9 inches of snow fell back in 1994.โ„

Looking at the Hudson River โ›ฒ it is still totally unfrozen with open water 💦 all the way. I guess that’s not unheard of this time of year and it was quite warm last week but still a bit odd for mid January. Mid freeze in February, who knows it seems like we are in a cooling trend.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:06 pm with sun having an altitude of 26.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-44.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). Not going to help a bit today. The golden hour 🏅 starts at 4:05 pm with the sun in the southwest (235ยฐ). 📸 The sunset is in the west-southwest (242ยฐ) starting at 4:46 pm and lasts for 3 minutes and 17 seconds with dusk around 5:20 pm, which is one minute and 11 seconds later than yesterday. 🌇 The best time to look at the stars is after 5:55 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies 🌃 and temperatures around 20 degrees. The wind chill around sunset will be 7. โ˜ƒ๏ธ Tonight’s the night I kind of wish I had my old office back. 🏢 Mountains would be purty. 🗻 There will be a northwest breeze at 13 mph. Today will have 9 hours and 27 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 42 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have increasing clouds โ˜, with a low of 4 degrees at 5am. 10 degrees below normal. Maximum wind chill around 2 at 6pm; Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of -19 occurred back in 1957.

Tomorrow will snow, mainly after 3pm. 🌨 High of 25 degrees at 6pm. Four degrees below normal. Light and variable wind becoming south 9 to 14 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 35 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1973. 7.9 inches of snow fell back in 1891.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. West wind 13 to 16 mph. โ˜ With that wind it will feel cold on Sunday but I’m thinking between the wind, the above freezing temperatures and the modest snow expected I’m not thinking that much snow will stick around. Typical average high for the weekend is 30 degrees.

🌹🌻🌼Only 62 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Valentines Day โค๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 5:25 pm with dusk at 5:54 pm. January 14, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and 39 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a south breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Thursday around 4 pm. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I walked down to the library for a while to return my books ๐Ÿ“š. I was going to work on the John Wolcott project but I’ve had little ambition to do that much data entry after a busy day at work. ๐Ÿ“‡ He’s out of the hospital and feeling better, I’ll be back over on Friday. I really think I want to spend time cleaning up the existing sorted files ๐Ÿ“‚ and getting better labels ๐Ÿ”– on the folders. Rode the exercise bike ๐Ÿšฒ for a few minutes but stopped as my neighbor came home and lately it’s been quite squeaky. I’m hoping I can lubricate and tighten it up and get rid of the noise. It is pretty old and hardly a quiet machine at this point.

Neighbors have a candle burning in their window as I go to bed. ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ I sure hope they’re keeping an eye on it ๐Ÿ‘€ and not falling asleep with it at still burning ๐Ÿ”ฅ. I actually am going to make sure that I know where my wallet is and laptop bag before bed in case my neighbor’s place catches fire. ๐Ÿ›‹๏ธ Its not directly connected to my building but if it caught fire, there is a risk of fire brands hitting my building so I would have to evacuate. I am all for using fire in a controlled way – its great for restoring habitats, heating buildings, cooking food and disposing of waste in rural areas – but it’s such a menace especially in the cities. ๐ŸŒ‡ I’m sure it will be fine or so I hope.

Tonight will have a chance of drizzle or light rain before 11pm, then a slight chance of drizzle between 11pm and 2am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 35 degrees at 6am. 21 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 8th. South wind 7 to 13 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 10 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1957.

Tonight will have a Waning Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon. The darkest hour is at 12:05 am, followed by dawn at 6:53 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:24 am in the east-southeast (119ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 19 seconds. Sunrise is 24 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 8:08 am with sun in the southeast (127ยฐ) at an altitude of 6ยฐ. Tonight will have 14 hours and 37 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 35 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 43 degrees at 1pm. 13 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 12th. Northwest wind 6 to 10 mph. Should be a very pleasant day. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 33 degrees. The record high of 65 was set in 1995. 13.4 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ„

It wasn’t a bad day at work, meeting went well. ๐Ÿ’ผ Busy today but I got another report finalized on my end of things. Making good progress. I got a nice complement from my boss to a client. Busy but so drab in that windowless office ๐Ÿข with those cool white florescent bulbs. But I’m getting stuff done, getting results for clients.

I got bumped by a car ๐Ÿš™ in a crosswalk today ๐Ÿ’ฅbut I wasn’t injured. I thought I made eye contact ๐Ÿ‘€ with the driver but I was kind of day dreaming and neither of us were looking. I bumped my hand into the hood of his truck but I never hit the bumper and didn’t do any damage. Got to be more careful crossing the streets. I haven’t had a close call like that in years – once before something similar happened in college – but I know it’s definitely possible to get in a much worse accident then getting brushed by a car. ๐Ÿšถ Drivers just don’t pay attention. Neither do I at times when I say dream. ๐Ÿ’ญ Pine Busher Lynne Jackson and bicycle activist Burt Shou has been warning โš  me about this for years.

In my suit ๐Ÿ‘”I do see myself getting old and gray in parts and with only a little over 3 years until I’m forty years old I really should try to understand myself and my future better. ๐Ÿ‘ด Still researching counseling services. I should just make an appointment and its only $25. I don’t like it, I don’t have to go back. But I could become a better person. ๐Ÿ‘ช It’s great to save for my future but I really should figure out if I should be looking to do other things in the meantime. Old age creeps up suddenly and I don’t want to be at a place where I can no longer do the things I want to do, like moving out west to rural town, my off grid property or hobby farm. ๐Ÿšœ Watching YouTube videos has me constantly thinking about all the other way people live and put food on their table. Some options will never be open to me, but if I have a better plan and more confidence I can open new doors for my future. ๐ŸšชI wish I could walk into a room, have a firm hand shake and be more charismatic and not a reserved somewhat crude hillbilly in a suit.

As I mentioned earlier, Iowa always seems like a fun state but not a lot of public land and land there can be super expensive due to amazing soils. ๐ŸŒฝ I follow Iowa Dairy Boys and a few other farm channels on the YouTube ๐Ÿฎ and while some of the farming isn’t that different than here in New York with old tie stall barns, they also have some really big and very fertile fields that are uncommon except for a few deep valleys in New York like the Genesee Valley of Western NY. But those are tiny in comparison to the vast fertile Iowa prarie. They also get quite a bit of snow and cold in Iowa – they’re winters are cooler than New York but hotter on summer due to the lack of moderating Atlantic Ocean. I also follow an off gridder in a shed to home ๐Ÿก in Iowa, as you might guess in a rural state like that many of rural areas are reasonably laid back on zoning and codes. I do love ๐Ÿ˜ learning about how those farm families fight the forces of nature and the market to scratch together a living often on the margins. They might have a lot of investment in their land and operations but even in Iowa are often struggling to make ends meet.

In four weeks on February 11 the sun will be setting in the west-southwest (251ยฐ) at 5:21 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 35 minutes and 47 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, snow showers and temperatures between 33 and 18 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 34 and 17 degrees. The record high of 59 degrees was set back in 1981.

Looking ahead, Don’t Cry over Spilled Milk Day ๐Ÿฅ› is in 4 weeks, Valentines Day โค๏ธ is a month away, National Drink Wine Day ๐Ÿท is in 5 weeks, St. Patrick’s Day ๐Ÿ€ is in 9 weeks, 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ is in 12 weeks, Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  is in 16 weeks, Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 5 months, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 23 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 42 weeks.
