Good evening! Cloudy and 54 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Breezy, ๏ธ16 mph breeze from the south-southeast ๐ŸŒฌ . The skies will clear Saturday around 2 pm.

No real rain yet โ˜”, I went for my evening walk earlier. I also went to Five Rivers for a walk and to update the blog towards the end of the day. Nice weather to start out the day but it kind of slipped downhill as the day progressed. Had a brief rain shower before I went for my evening walk. ๐Ÿšถ

Tonight will have isolated sprinkles before midnight, then a chance of showers, mainly after 3am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 46 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 11th. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of 25 occurred back in 1874.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 43% illuminated. At 10 PM, the moon was in the west (260ยฐ) at an altitude of 45ยฐ from the horizon, some 233,363 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 23rd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:22 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:53 am in the east-northeast (69ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 6 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 24 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:32 am with sun in the east-northeast (76ยฐ). On sunny โ˜€ it’s bright out super early. Tonight will have 9 hours and 56 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 29 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 61 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 22nd. Maximum dew point of 50 at 4pm. Breezy, with a southeast wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Tomorrow night into Friday is when the soaker will occur. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 51 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1903. There was a dusting of snow in 2008.โ„

Did some more research and I’m leaning towards the Coleman screened room for camping. ๐ŸŽช The 10×10′ size as that’s plenty of room for setting up my camp tables and having a chair in there away from the bugs with space to spare. I don’t want something too big as the campsites I’m often in are small. I’ll try to decide by the weekend there is a few more models I’m looking at. I doubt I’ll use it but on long weekend trips during black fly season and my summer vacation. It will be so nice to be able to sit outside of the truck cap when it’s super buggy out.

So far no bulls eye around the tick bite ๐ŸŽฏso I’m hopeful that I don’t have Lyme Disease although it does feel a bit that way in my arm and the tick was in there for a while. Once I do see the rash I’ll snap a picture and figure out the telemedicine benefit with my job. ๐Ÿ“ž I see CVS is heavily advertising their drive through service so that would be easy. I’m not super concerned as I’m very familiar with doxycycline ๐Ÿ’Š but I am ticked about getting Lyme so quickly again.

I’m looking at the forecast and I don’t see this weekend camping trip โ›บ happening. It’s just going to rain too late into Friday and everything will be soaking wet come Saturday. Relatively mild but still cold. I’d like to see things green up some more then I might go out to Schoharie County for the weekend or maybe even a long weekend. I am still thinking with all the campgrounds and other areas closed the places I like to camp will be packed so I should plan a psuedo Memorial Day Weekend the week before or after. Just take the Friday or Monday off work to celebrate it. I have a lot of time as I haven’t taken any time off since I’ve been working from home the past seven weeks now (wow, yeap). ๐Ÿ€

In four weeks on May 27 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (301ยฐ) at 8:22 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 29 minutes and 3 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 81 and 55 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 73 and 51 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1914.

Looking ahead, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 8 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 38 weeks.

April 26, 2020 Night

Good evening! Heavy rain and 40 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” There is a north-northeast breeze at 13 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. No snow here but I heard they’ve gotten a half foot already in Summit in Schoharie County up where I like to camp in Schoharie County. The skies will clear Tuesday around 4 am.

Today was rather cold and rainy โ˜” so I stayed home and did some cleaning ๐Ÿšฟ and then went to the car wash and cleaned the salt off Big Red, ๐Ÿš˜ went to Walmart (out of socks!) ๐Ÿ‘˜and gased up the truck. โ›ฝ I’d like to get back to the Adirondacks this weekend for camping โ›บ and fishing ๐ŸŽฃ but it depends a lot on the weather. Might still be snow up north – all week is expected to be quite cold and rainy with a few exceptions.

I still think it wouldn’t have been a good week for camping โ›บ with the rain today โ˜” plus besides my hikes on Saturday I had other things that kept me busy this weekend. It was nice walking at Partridge Run but some of the places I hiked were crowded ๐Ÿ‘ช when normally when I go up there I don’t see any one at all most times. Maybe I just picked a bad route to hike but it also was an extraordinary nice day except for the bugs which despite the DEET were atrocious. ๐ŸœI’m surprised that they were so bad when it was quite dry up there from the leaf litter to the low flow on most of the seasonal creeks and even in the Switz Kill.

That said, no risk of snow or ice locally. We will be well above freezing. Tonight will rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 38 degrees at 10pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 18th. North wind 11 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Hopefully more rain or snow out in the hilltowns – really dry out that way. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1963.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 14% illuminated. At 8 PM, the moon was in the west (269ยฐ) at an altitude of 36ยฐ from the horizon, some 242,245 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 27th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The moon will set in the west-northwest (302ยฐ) at 11:34 pm. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 5:27 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:57 am in the east-northeast (71ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 4 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 27 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:36 am with sun in the east-northeast (77ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 4 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will rain some more and be quite cold. ๐Ÿ’ฆ But fortunately no snow locally. Otherwise, cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 48 degrees at 1pm. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 25th. North wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. Farmers are planting in the Genesee Valley already, so they certainly don’t want frost. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1962. There was a dusting of snow in 1946.โ„

Between wearing the bandana over the face ๐Ÿ˜ท to product shortages to the nuts around social distancing, shopping is so miserable these days. I find it hard to see and hot under the bandana a little bit Walmart. I thought I would be in Walmart at a low traffic time around six o’clock on Sunday evening but I was wrong. I probably would have gone somewhere besides Walmart but I was hoping to get socks and a shower curtain, the prior which was no in stock. My socks are wearing out, I may have to order online. Hopefully it won’t take Walmart two weeks to ship ๐Ÿ“ฆ like it did with the boots ๐Ÿ‘ข.

That said, I’m quite happy with the lower fuel prices โ›ฝ but I’m sure they won’t last. But it’s so freaky about touching everything these days and then spraying rubbing alcohol everywhere until you skin cracks and bleeds. โญ•And then getting home and rushing to the sink. I do miss the old routines a lot and look forward to once again putting the suit and tie on and going down to work on the bus ๐Ÿš everyday. And hopefully the Coronavirus Uncle Police ๐Ÿšจ will crawl back down their rat ๐Ÿ€ holes and leave us alone again. I’m still not convinced that much of this all isn’t super political in the presidential election of the geriatrics, not that the candidates were spring chickens ๐Ÿ” in 2016.

In four weeks on May 24 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (300ยฐ) at 8:20 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 29 minutes and 45 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 70 and 52 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 72 and 50 degrees. The record high of 92 degrees was set back in 1964.

Looking ahead, Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ is in 2 weeks, Pack Rat Day ๐Ÿ€ is in 3 weeks, Strawberry Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 6 weeks and Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 7 weeks.

April 26, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Sunday. โ›ช I guess if you have internet at home you can stream virtual church but I’d rather spend my time in the wilderness. ๐ŸŒฒ God can be heard by listening to the birds ๐Ÿฆ which I still enjoy giving the middle finger too. Two weeks to Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€. Time to get out that Frank Zappa record, Motherly Love. ๐Ÿ˜ Cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Rain is definitely coming…. For most of the next week according to the radar. ๐Ÿ’ฆ There is a south-southeast breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear Tuesday around 2 pm.

I don’t know, maybe last night would have been fine in the woods ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณโ›บ but it wasn’t a real starry night ๐ŸŒƒ with the clouds pushing in early and the breeze pushing in and things super dry and buggy in the hill towns. ๐Ÿœ I was planning on going to Rennselearville State Forest to hammock camp but I think I’ll wait until the nights are warmer and less buggy. I think yesterday the black flies had just hatched from the warm weather.

Even though I didn’t camp ๐Ÿšถ I had a nice day when I started out at Black Creek Marsh (highly recommended early mornings, especially off Depot Road) and then hiked up old Partridge Run Road to Fawn Lake then over to the Gulf and ultimately along the ridge line. I mostly shot those photos ๐Ÿ“ท with the other camera, I’ll upload them this week. I was darn tired ๐Ÿ˜ด when I got home and went to bed.

Today will rain, mainly after 11am. ๐ŸŒง High of 55 degrees at 9am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 29th. Temperatures will drop through the day, their getting snow in the mountains late. โ„Right now though I have my windows open for fresh air but I’ll close them before I go to the store. South wind 7 to 9 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 61 degrees. The record high of 90 was set in 1990. 0.3 inches of snow fell back in 1993.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 61.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-9.7ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:12 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (283ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (290ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:50 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 8:20 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (272ยฐ) at an altitude of 32ยฐ from the horizon, 242,202 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a north-northeast breeze at 11 mph. Today will have 13 hours and 54 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will rain. ๐ŸŒง Low of 38 degrees at 11pm. Three degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 18th. Just a cold wet rain here. North wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. In 2019, we had light rain in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 40 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1963.

Plans for today include washing the truck ๐Ÿš˜ and running to Walmart. ๐Ÿช Hopefully it won’t be too crowded but there is a lot of things I need and today would be a good day to do it. I have some projects coming down the pike on Monday for work so I expect a busy day then. Next weekend it might be a good week to go back to the Adirondacks for the weekend depending on the weather. I want to do a trip out to Schoharie but not until things green up in in May.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Mothers Day ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€ when the sun will be setting at 8:05 pm with dusk at 8:37 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 69 and 52 degrees. I remember, I was camping up at Stewart Landing and it was kind of a cold and wet morning. Typically, the high temperature is 68 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1970.

April 22, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. When the wind picks up its pretty darn cold but that’s been the story of the weather all day. With enough layers it’s not bad especially in the sun. โ˜€ Definitely not warm enough though with the wind to sit out back.

Today in the afternoon I went to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿธ for a while to upload some new content to the blog and do some work tasks. The Wi-Fi is so much faster plus it saves bandwidth and allows me to visit personal sites using my personal laptop and get podcasts. ๐ŸŽง Walked the maintenence road twice like I do every day I’m out there. After Five Rivers I came home, had hot dogs and beans ๐Ÿฃand went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ. I got milk at the store ๐Ÿฎ making sure to have my bandana on before I went in. I swear the banada over the face requirement is just more of an excuse to be uncomfortable and make people stay home rather than a real health improvement. ๐Ÿ˜ท I don’t have one of those fancy masks ๐ŸŽญ, just a banada and it works fine as long as it clean and mold free unlike the one I used the other day.

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 26 degrees at 4am. 14 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 18th. West wind 7 to 10 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1975.

Tonight will have a New ๐ŸŒš Moon with 0% illuminated. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:54 am, followed by dawn at 5:33 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:03 am in the east-northeast (72ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 2 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 31 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:41 am with sun in the east (79ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 14 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a slight chance of showers after 2pm. Increasing clouds ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 53 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 4th. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south in the afternoon. A bit warmer than today. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 75 degrees. The record high of 87 was set in 2007. 2.4 inches of snow fell back in 1956.โ„

I still haven’t gone grocery shopping for the week ๐Ÿ or done my wash ๐Ÿ‘š but none is pressing right away now that I got milk. I’m leaning towards Wally World this week for one stop shopping plus I can wash my truck at the same time. I think I need to get socks ๐Ÿ‘ขas a lot of them I have now are falling apart. I don’t think it will be that nice come tomorrow evening but at least it won’t be windy for washing my truck. Always trying to avoid shopping as I don’t want to get Coronavirus if I can avoid it. I do carry that bottle of isopropyl alcohol with me but it sure makes my hands crack and bleed. I need some glycerin to mix in with it.

In four weeks on May 20 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (299ยฐ) at 8:16 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 30 minutes and 29 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 83 and 56 degrees. Kind of hot last year. Typically, you have temperatures between 71 and 48 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1962.

Looking ahead, Average High is 80 ๐Ÿ– is in 2 months, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 9 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 39 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 30 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Hudson River on this beautiful afternoon

April 22, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ on this Snowy morning! Snow flurries and 31 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ Breezy, ๏ธ20 mph breeze from the west-northwest ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 34 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The current wind chill is 19. There is a dusting of the white stuff on the ground and the cars on the ground.

I bet despite the cold on this Earth Day lots of folks will be working the earth. ๐Ÿšœ Fields have to be prepped, manure spread, chisel plows and harrows run over thousands of acres across the country. We are almost a month away from the start of the Memorial Day Weekend and the first cutting of hay at most farms across Upstate NY. I ๐ŸŒพHopefully things will start to open up by then because otherwise things might be kind of crowded in the remaining wilderness areas. ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ‘ช๐Ÿ‘ฌ๐ŸŒฒ

Today will have scattered snow showers, mainly before 8am. Mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž late , with a high of 46 degrees at 4pm. 15 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 21st. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Not the coldest Earth Day ever but close. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 74 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1985. 1 inches of snow fell back in 1928.โ„

Definitely going to be a cold one today but sun โ˜€ for a while. I might go to the library or Five Rivers this afternoon as the Wi-Fi is so much better. I guess if I do Five Rivers again there is always the option of a nature walk ๐Ÿฆ on this Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ if I bundle up with the cold. โ„ That wind is really whipping around for sure. It’s no joke.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:54 pm with sun having an altitude of 59.8ยฐ from the due south horizon (-11ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:07 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (282ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (288ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:46 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 2 seconds with dusk around 8:15 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:52 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 40 degrees. Breezy, 18 mph breeze โ›… from the west-northwest with gusts up to 30mph. Today will have 13 hours and 43 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 24 degrees at 6am. 16 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 13th. West wind 11 to 16 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 26 occurred back in 1975.

Saturday still looks like the best day for the weekend but still cold for late April. โ›… Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Sunday, showers likely, mainly after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Typical average high for the weekend is 63 degrees.

While certainly not a banner forecast, ๐ŸŒฟ you have to make the best of it. I got away last weekend and this will probably be a stay in town weekend. I’m thinking I’ll probably do one of the big loops at Partridge Run on Saturday. ๐Ÿšถ Probably from Gifford Hollow Road this time then head west on the dirt roads. The nice thing about road hiking is the lack of mud and ticks. ๐Ÿœ Plenty of summer left to still go camping โ›บ.

There are 2 months until Average High is 80 ๐Ÿ– when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. By then it will be almost time for the second cutting of hay ๐ŸŒพ which seems all the more amazing on how cold the spring has been.

April 21, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 36 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west-northwest breeze at 15 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. At times though, it’s been pretty windy. Temperatures will drop below freezing at midnight. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I worked at home today ๐Ÿก and it was a pretty busy day although the mobile internet super flaky. ๐Ÿ“ถI try to avoid using the work bandwidth as much as possible but it would not have been a nice day to work at Five Rivers or the library. Plus if I use my work laptop rather than my personal one, I don’t have to worry about formatting issues in Microsoft Word. ๐Ÿ“

This evening ๐ŸŒƒ it was pasta for dinner. ๐Ÿฒ Tomorrow I may go to Wally World and the Car Wash with the bandana over my face. Rained hard midday but that doesn’t clean the undercarriage of Big Red ๐Ÿš˜ plus it’s been a week since my last big grocery shop and I’m a bit low on food. I thought some more about camping this weekend but I just was up north last weekend and I think I’ll wait another week or two for things to warm up and get greener. ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒทI guess if it’s a nice enough evening and not super cold I could sit down by the river and work with a fishing pole ๐ŸŽฃ in one hand tomorrow.

Never showered or shaved ๐Ÿšฟ today as there was no Zoom Meeting ๐Ÿ“น or reason to look nice for the world. ๐ŸŒŽ It was cold out at first for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but once I got burning calories I didn’t feel real cold. That wind at times though sure is intense.

I do miss the library not being open for having the kiosks inside to quietly work on my laptop. ๐Ÿ“š While working in my truck on the blog is fine, I used to really enjoy having a block of time at the library to work on my blog using my laptop. ๐Ÿ’ป I know eventually though we will get through the pandemic and the library will reopen but I hate how there is no time line. I just want this to be over, go back to work, ride the bus every day ๐Ÿš and enjoy life in the basement office. ๐Ÿข Some of the protests may be obnoxious but so many of us crave normalcy and our freedoms restored.

Tonight will have a slight chance of snow showers after 1am. Partly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 28 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 23rd. West wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1947.

Tonight will have a New ๐ŸŒš Moon with 1% illuminated. The Flower ๐ŸŒท Moon is on Thursday, May 7. The darkest hour is at 12:55 am, followed by dawn at 5:35 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:05 am in the east-northeast (73ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 2 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 32 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:43 am with sun in the east (79ยฐ). Tonight will have 10 hours and 17 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 39 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny, then gradually becoming sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 45 degrees at 4pm. 16 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 18th. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 74 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1985. 1 inch of snow fell back in 1928.โ„

Sounds like it will be miserably cold with the wind for Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ. But hopefully the sun will be nice for a while although I expect more clouds on Thursday into Friday. โ˜ Just a late spring this year, the werid year of Coronavirus. Eventually the jet steam will push north and it will be like 80 or 90 degrees every day. I’ve heard it’s been that way already down in Missouri, at least on the Farm and Hammer ๐Ÿ”จ cattle farmer channel I like on the YouTube ๐Ÿฎ.

In four weeks on May 19 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (298ยฐ) at 8:15 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 30 minutes and 38 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 86 and 49 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 70 and 48 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 1989.

Looking ahead, Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  is in 2 weeks, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 9 weeks, and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 28 weeks.

April 21, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Two weeks to Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค . Cloudy and 41 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ It was nice earlier this morning but then it clouded up in Trump’s America. There is a south breeze at 13 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow midnight. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Definitely started out quite nice โ˜€ but I knew it wouldn’t last long. But that’s fine, I’ll work inside today from home. I certainly have a busy day at work today and working from home means no distraction. No Zoom meeting today so I don’t have to shave before work which is nice but I may shower and get cleaned up during lunch. ๐Ÿšฟ Later on this afternoon I may run to the car wash just to get out as I get tired of being cooped up after working at home all day. That’s kind of why I prefer to work from Five Rivers or the library on the Wi-Fi to break things up. ๐Ÿ“ถPlus if I use my personal laptop I don’t have to worry about accidentally going to a personal web page or doing something like checking the weather.

Today will have a chance of showers before noon, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce small hail and gusty winds. ๐ŸŒฆ High of 52 degrees at 12pm. Eight degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 4th. Maximum dew point of 42 at 1pm. ๐Ÿ–๏ธ Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 20 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 72 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1923. 0.6 inches of snow fell back in 1947.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:55 pm with sun having an altitude of 59.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-11.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 3.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:06 pm with the sun in the west (281ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (287ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 7:45 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 2 seconds with dusk around 8:14 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:51 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 40 degrees. Breezy, 20 mph breeze ๐Ÿ’จ from the west-northwest with gusts up to 36mph. Today will have 13 hours and 41 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 40 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of rain showers before midnight, then a chance of snow showers. โ˜” Partly cloudy โ˜, with a low of 27 degrees at 6am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 21st. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 51 degrees. The record low of 20 occurred back in 1947.

Saturday looks sunny but cold and Sunday wet and very cold. โ˜€ โ˜” Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Sunday, rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Typical average high for the weekend is 63 degrees. Honestly doesn’t seem like a really nice weekend for spring ๐ŸŒธ but I’ll continue to monitor the forecast and decide what weekend plans should be. I’m thinking about a Schoharie County trip โ›บ but maybe not this weekend.

As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  when the sun will be setting at 8:00 pm with dusk at 8:31 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 58 and 52 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 66 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1944.
