May 20, 2020 Morning

Good morning! What day is it? A Beautiful Spring Day, of course. Five weeks to Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ†. Sunny and 55 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind.

I went out for a nice little walk this morning before work. ๐Ÿšถ Absolutely stunningly beautiful day, I won’t mind working outside at all today. Not too hot, just beautiful. Yesterday, when shopping I bought bacon and eggs, and had a really good breakfast.๐Ÿณ Slept well last night too, as I took a sleeping pill and tried to get to bed at a reasonable hour. Friday is going to be the early day — 5 AM — as I want to be to camp by 9 AM, so I can get the site I want and work from there. With so much sun expected this weekend, I should have ample solar power for sure.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. Typical temperatures and nice for today. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 83 degrees. The record high of 91 was set in 1962.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 67.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-3.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:36 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (292ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (299ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:17 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 18 seconds with dusk around 8:49 pm, which is 59 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:31 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 62 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 14 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 40 degrees at 5am. Nine degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 24th. Calm wind. Lots of cooling with the clear skies but it will be nice for sleeping. ๐Ÿ˜ด In 2019, we had partly cloudy skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 50 degrees. The record low of 32 occurred back in 1949.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 77. Maximum dew point of 55 at 8am. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 73. Maximum dew point of 47 at 2pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 72 degrees.

So the plan for the weekend is to leave by 6:30 AM on Friday and get up to camp by 8:45 – 9 AM. ๐Ÿ• This should ensure I get the campsite I want for the weekend. I have to clock in and start work by 9 AM but I can do that as long as I get the campsite I want as it should have good cellphone reception based on past experience. I have my work laptop, and with the solar power and lots of sun I should be good for working from camp. I will work from there all day Friday and part of day Monday, probably working down in Speculator after lunch then driving home after that. Try to get home by dusk on Monday, Memorial Day. My screen tent should be arriving tomorrow, it will provide much needed protection from bugs and sun while camping.๐ŸŽช I will probably go paddling in the kayak on Saturday or Sunday, depending on which day has the best weather. ๐ŸŠ If it’s hot, I might go for a swim. I am excited to get this all together.

One month from now will be the last day of spring, when the sun will be setting at 8:36 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm.๐ŸŒป The sun doesn’t set much later then that for the year.

May 17, 2020 10 PM Update

Good evening! Cloudy and 67 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a east breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees. The skies will clear Tuesday around 1 am.

For all the commotion earlier it looks like the fire ๐Ÿš’ is out or whatever all the emergency vehicles were reporting too. Maybe I’m a bit paranoid about the plastics plant blowing up but I’m well aware of toxic chemicals they use at SABIC plastics and it sure seemed like a lot of emergency response heading that way. ๐Ÿ‘ฎ Probably safer at home at any rate and who knows their is rain pushing this way shortly.

It’s not like I sat home and eat twinkies all day. ๐Ÿ› I did have a bowl of tuna fish salad for dinner but it probably has a quarter pound of peas and broccoli besides the noodles, mayonnaise and tuna fish. ๐Ÿ  I did hold back on the mayonnaise a bit.

Walking out to Five Rivers this afternoon was nice. ๐Ÿธ Spent several hours studying nature with the binoculars my parents lent me. It’s really fascinating to watch the birds up close and even just study squirrel and chipmunk behavior. Next up I need to get a better knowledge of bird ๐Ÿฆ species – I know the common ones but especially the migratory birds are a bit of a mystery to me. I thought about Black Creek Marsh at dusk but I decided to hold off because it was getting late – after seven o’clock when I started walking home from Five Rivers.

To be honest, my plan for visiting Black Creek Marsh at dusk ๐ŸŒ† wasn’t just for bird watching ๐Ÿฆ or photos ๐Ÿ“ท but in part because I was curious how effective the Permethrin would be in really buggy weather – that is with DEET on the face and arms. People swear by it and while I haven’t found any ticks on me yet and saw a mosquitoes collapse after crawling on my jeans ๐Ÿ‘– I’m not totally convinced of the hype. I did spray my hat yesterday too. Unlike DEET I might also be able to safely apply it to the hammock which would help with the bugs when I’m lying there.

Tonight will be scattered sprinkles before 11pm, then showers likely, mainly after 3am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 53 degrees at 5am. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around June 2nd. Maximum dew point of 50 at 9pm. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 46 degrees. The record low of 29 occurred back in 1981.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent ๐ŸŒ˜ Moon with 19% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 4:59 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:32 am in the east-northeast (62ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 16 seconds. Sunrise is 57 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:13 am with sun in the east-northeast (69ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 16 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 57 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have showers likely, mainly before 9am. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 65 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 2nd. Maximum dew point of 50 at 10am. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, which became light rain by afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 2017. 2.2 inches of snow fell back in 2002.โ„

In four weeks on June 14 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:34 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 21 minutes and 28 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 68 and 53 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 78 and 56 degrees. The record high of 96 degrees was set back in 1892.

So the Gas Up tractor and agricultural festival is canceled for June. ๐Ÿšœ I think that was kind of expected during the pandemic although they’re considering trying to reschedule for mid August. Could be hot then I’m thinking though. Assuming it’s even an option then – they didn’t seem too hopeful. ๐Ÿ˜”

Looking ahead, Strawberry Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 3 weeks and Fathers Day ๐Ÿ‘จ is in 4 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 5 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I was doing some reading on the internet and found out that the lower part of Piseco Powley Road is still not fully rebuilt from the October 2019 storm and that the road is closed. โ›บ So I guess that’s out for the weekend. Hopefully soon though they’ll finish the rebuild and open the gates all the way. There are other options but with the nice weather expected and the state campgrounds closed they’ll fill up quickly.

So the original plan of delaying my Memorial Day Weekend for one week is back on the agenda. ๐Ÿ”™ That’s fine, it gives me more time to pack and potentially opens up more options as there will be fewer people camping, especially if I drive up Thursday evening or Friday morning on a non holiday weekend. I never did a spring trip this year with a long weekend so I have the time.

Come June for example, it’s likely Perkins Clearing Road and West River Road and White House in Wells will open. ๐Ÿšง But also I expect I could get that campsite up on Pumpkin Hollow Road when on a non holiday weekend. If it’s hot though it would be nice to be able to walk to water. Betty Brook or Duck Pond are good options in Schoharie County. ๐Ÿ’ญ

East Branch Sacandaga River is fine but it’s noisy ๐Ÿ  and the river isn’t that great for fishing due to the fluctuating water levels. A drought in summer – as was a case a few years ago can leave the river with only a few inches of water. Right now, Cherry Ridge and Finger Lakes National Forest are closed for camping.

Maybe Moose River will be my summer vacation if Piseco Powley Road โ›บ is not rebuilt. While I assume ny mid summer that the Finger Lakes National Forest will reopen for camping if the pools and beaches aren’t open I’m sure if I’d want to do summer vacation there.

Other options include the Allegheny and Green Mountain National Forest. ๐Ÿ—ป The later is open but who knows if the current limits on out of state visitors will be lifted by summer. That Grout Pond beach is fun and some of sites along Forest Road 73 not only have good sun โ˜€ for solar but also cell reception.

May 16, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 60 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… Calm wind. The dew point is 46 degrees. Remarkably mild for this late in the night for mid May but then again it is mid May. Seems like it was March the last time I worked downtown, well actually it was. I haven’t been downtown since probably April when I picked up the work laptop.

It was a a beautiful spring day and I spent as much time as possible outdoors. ๐ŸŒธ Things are still fairly gray in the hill towns on the hills but at the same time many other places are quite green. This afternoon I hiked a Thacher Park ๐ŸŒฟand this evening hiked at the Pine Bush well after dark ๐ŸŒƒ – from 10 pm to 11:30 to be exact.

I would have stayed longer but my knee was aching from the Lyme Disease. ๐Ÿœ I hadn’t taken the pill before I left for the evening. The doxycycline is controlling the symptoms but I’m not convinced it’s killing the Lyme and it may return when the medication runs out on Monday. If necessary I guess I’ll see my doctor again. ๐Ÿ˜ท One good thing about working from home is it makes scheduling easier. Plus I didn’t want to stay too late and be fatigued driving home. ๐Ÿก

It seemed like the Permethrin worked well on my clothes. ๐Ÿ‘š So far no ticks I’ve found and the one black fly that landed on my jeans was crippled before it could bite. Didn’t protect my face from bugs out hiking but my arms were good as I applied Picardin to them. ๐Ÿ˜ต As much as I have pause about bathing myself in chemicals, ticks are insane this year and I am very worried about getting sick from Lyme and not recovering. Already I’m not doing great. I’m not willing to become a shut in just to avoid ticks.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 49 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 21st. Calm wind. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1959.

Tonight will have a Waining Crescent ๐ŸŒ˜ Moon with 26% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:00 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:33 am in the east-northeast (63ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 16 seconds. Sunrise is 59 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:13 am with sun in the east-northeast (69ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 18 minutes of darkness, a decrease of one minute and 59 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 20th. Maximum dew point of 50 at 10am. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon. Might be a decent day. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 73 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 2017.

So I’m pretty sure I’m going to delay my Memorial Day Weekend trip for the week after. โ›บ I’ve been on and off but I don’t think the weather will be all that great for Memorial Day Weekend based on the latest forecast and I’m not convinced that the gates north of the potholers will be open this year for Memorial Day Weekend. Been so wet and I know they had to rebuild the road last fall and with the pandemic everything is messed up. I’m thinking I might take Friday and Monday the week after Memorial Day and camp three nights either at the House Pond campsite or maybe up at Powley Place at one of the sandy open sites where I can use the solar to keep my batteries ๐Ÿ”‹ charged and hang my hammock and set up my screen tent ๐ŸŽช for black fly prevention.

I am running low on socks and a few other supplies ๐Ÿช which I will probably order from Walmart online but I’ve found it hard to come up with a $35 order for free shipping ๐Ÿ“ฆ as the online store actually lacks a lot of the products that the regular stores would have in normal times. Walmart isn’t stocking any non food items in their retail outlets so if they sell out, it’s gone.

In four weeks on June 13 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:34 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 22 minutes and 2 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 65 and 57 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 77 and 56 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1892.

Looking ahead, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is in 1 week, and Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 5 weeks.

May 16, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ! Next Saturday is Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ. Partly cloudy and 56 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a northwest breeze at 13 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 50 degrees. Breezy but sunny and clear this morning. Going to be a beautiful day.

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 71 degrees at 4pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 20th. Maximum dew point of 51 at 8am. I’ll take that. Much less muggy than last night. Northwest wind 7 to 13 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 89 was set in 1991.

I am going to go hiking and wildlife observation ๐Ÿฆ in the back part of Thacher Park today. Should be a really nice day assuming it’s not too cloudy. I think it’s been dry out enough the ground has had a chance to dry out a lot. I know the trails and places that are less popular and I’ll wear a banada over my face and keep distance for social distancing. ๐Ÿ‘ค

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 66.6ยฐ from the due south horizon (-4.2ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.6 foot shadow today at solar noon compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:32 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (291ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (298ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:13 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 15 seconds with dusk around 8:44 pm, which is one minute and 2 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:26 pm. At sunset, look for partly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 65 degrees. The dew point will be 49 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 5 mph. Today will have 14 hours and 40 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and one second over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 49 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 21st. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 30 occurred back in 1959.

I bought a fuse box to connect up the various wires ๐Ÿ”Œ in the cab of my truck. Currently I am distributing power in the cab of my truck using a series of crimped connectors Y-ed out but I’ve noticed some of the connectors are not tight enough and there is voltage drop and heat which is a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ risk and waste electricity. I was originally thinking of getting just a bus bar but I saw a fuse box with bus bar for the ground that would work perfectly for my purposes.

As previously noted, next Saturday the Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ˜Š when the sun will be setting at 8:19 pm with dusk at 8:52 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny, rain showers and temperatures between 72 and 56 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 72 degrees. We hit a record high of 93 back in 1964.

Blue Hill

May 9, 2020 Night

Good evening! Cloudy and cold 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ Breezy, ๏ธ21 mph breeze from the west ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 31 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The current wind chill is 26. That wind is really cutting when you go outside.

Mostly stayed home except for my evening walk. ๐Ÿก Did some cleaning, some reading ๐Ÿ“–, too much time on Facebook and researching binoculars. Birding ๐Ÿฆ has become a hobby of mine not just on Facebook.

I’ve spent too much money on guns over the years, I really need to get some quality glass so I can see the woods better. Good glass ain’t cheap. At least you don’t have to wait for a background check to buy binoculars, yet. ๐Ÿ”ซ Of course this comes at the time I also want to buy the screen house for camping. ๐ŸŽช Maybe I can do both, I’d have to give it some thought with the stimulus check coming although I really should invest most of that so I have it for the future. ๐Ÿ’ต Plus if I adopt my alternative Adirondack vacation this summer I’ll save a lot of money and hopefully I’ll have a chance to make some good overtime at work come the fall.

Tonight will have isolated snow showers before 10pm. Reminds me of that Funny Bin Outing Isolation group on Facebook where people dress ๐Ÿ‘— up during the quartine to take out their trash to the street or burn barrel as it’s the only time they’re getting out. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. Cold night. Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. No heat but the windows are closed and it’s chilly enough in my bedroom I’m wearing long sleeve. That wind really makes it chilly but at least their was good sun today. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1958.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ŸŒ– Moon with 90% illuminated. The moon will rise at 10:54 pm. The darkest hour is at 12:53 am, followed by dawn at 5:08 am, and sun starting to rise at 5:40 am in the east-northeast (65ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 12 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 10 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 6:20 am with sun in the east-northeast (72ยฐ). Tonight will have 9 hours and 32 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 15 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 4pm. 11 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 13th. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 69 degrees. The record high of 92 was set in 1970. 5 inches of snow fell back in 1945.โ„

I’m thinking about hiking at Thatcher Park tomorrow ๐Ÿšถ but I’m a bit worried about the crowds. I don’t know but I haven’t been out there in a while and it might be pretty with the valley greening up below. Spent too much time at Partridge Run lately so I need a change. I guess if it’s cloudy tomorrow I could just stay home again. ๐Ÿก

It looks like based on what the region’s plan for reopening ๐Ÿขthat probably in two weeks after Memorial Day Weekend I’ll be back to working downtown. ๐Ÿš Back to getting up early and taking the bus to work. I kind of got used to sleeping in. That said I much prefer to work in a proper office. But it might impact my plans to take a long weekend the week after Memorial Day Weekend. Who knows things could change, but I tend to think slowly but surely things will be much closer to normal after June 1st. ๐Ÿ˜Š Maybe by Independence Day I can get a hair cut ๐Ÿ’ˆ but who knows – and I fear I might have to find a new barber if my old one decides the pandemic means tossing in the towel for good. He has a GE Pension and he strikes me as frugal mostly being a barber for the social side of things. To keep the side burns or not? Might have to go if summer is hot.

In four weeks on June 6 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (303ยฐ) at 8:30 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 25 minutes and 36 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mist and temperatures between 76 and 61 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 75 and 54 degrees. The record high of 94 degrees was set back in 1925.

Looking ahead, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 1 week, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is in 2 weeks, Last Day of Session ๐Ÿ› is in 6 weeks and Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 6 weeks.

Very Shallow and Marshy Here

May 9, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Saturday. Finally the weekend! It’s a frigid morning for nearly mid May. Next Saturday is Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ. Just a friendly reminder. Sunny and 32 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜€ Breezy, ๏ธ18 mph breeze from the west-northwest ๐ŸŒฌ with gusts up to 29 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. The current wind chill is 20.

That wind is really whipping around. ๐Ÿ’ชI am a bit stiff and sore from the Lyme again. I was feeling great yesterday but not as much now. Maybe it’s the story of the weather. ๐Ÿœ That said with all the bright ๐Ÿ”† sun I’m thinking about going for a walk down to the Normans Kill Gorge. We will see – it’s kind of cold out. ๐Ÿƒ

I also want to work on the blog some more, ๐Ÿ“ do some electronics projects and cleaning. Kitchen kind of got dirty this time weekend – I think when I was half awake from the Lyme I spilled coffee in a few places plus I need to do good cleaning after going camping last weekend. ๐Ÿšฟ

I ordered a $20 including tax pint size bottle of 10% Permethrin. โš  Stuff is expensive even if you buy it in bulk and dilluted it down 20 to 1 but the premix it is even more expensive on a per spray basis. I was going to dump my clothes in a bucket full of it but not at that price. Instead I’ll use a spray bottle to douse them as many recommend. Much more efficient application. I can even bring a spray bottle to camp and do it whole hung on a line there. ๐Ÿ‘š I’m also going to do my hammock. Soaking them might be a bit too much at any rate, and cause allergies. Permethrin isn’t hazardous for human skin contact but it is hazardous to breathe when wet or injection and is very bad news for cats, bees and fish. ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ

Today will have a slight chance of snow showers before 9am, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers between 9am and noon, then a chance of rain showers after noon. Partly sunny ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 43 degrees at 4pm. 24 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 14th. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 66 degrees. The record high of 93 was set in 1979. 1.6 inches of snow fell back in 1977.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:53 pm with sun having an altitude of 64.9ยฐ from the due south horizon (-5.9ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 7:25 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (289ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west-northwest (295ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:05 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 11 seconds with dusk around 8:36 pm, which is one minute and 6 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:16 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and snow ๐ŸŒจ and temperatures around 39 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 15 mph with gusts up to 26mph. Today will have 14 hours and 25 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 16 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a slight chance of rain and snow showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 32 degrees at 5am. 13 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 2nd. West wind 8 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. In 2019, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 52 degrees. The record low of 28 occurred back in 1958.

Hoping next weekend will be nice enough to get out to Schoharie County โ›บ but I’m not holding my breath. Looks like rain โ˜” Friday and Sunday. At least it will be closer to normal weather wise next week and I should be able to work outside. I want to order that screen house tent ๐ŸŽช either Monday or Tuesday next week. I’m definitely thinking the Coleman model. I don’t see it likely that I’ll camp Memorial Day Weekend but maybe take a long weekend the following week especially if it’s hot and sunny. โ˜€

As previously noted, next Saturday is Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ when the sun will be setting at 8:12 pm with dusk at 8:44 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 69 and 48 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 70 degrees. We hit a record high of 89 back in 1991.

Spring will arrive

May 7, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ•! Been so cold fewer flowers ๐ŸŒท then normal this time of year but still quite nice. Sunny and 51 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒž Calm wind. A beautiful morning. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around morning. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Beautiful morning. โ˜บ. Started my day with a nice walk ๐Ÿšถ around the super block and then I’m planning to work outside most of the day. ๐Ÿ’ผ Maybe go down to the library books ๐Ÿ“š where I can work with the faster internet and upload new stuff to the site blog. ๐ŸŒธ

Feeling quite well now ๐Ÿ’Š with the doxycycline doing its magic. Aches and soreness in my legs are mostly home not as tired ๐Ÿ˜ด. Lyme disease sucks. Heck even my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ autocomplete knows that now. I was told that the reason I was so much more tired and sick from the doxycycline this time was the Lyme disease infection was recent and the disease was much more of a fight. Pretty good now but still a bit sore.
