March 21, 2020 Night

Good evening! Clear and 34 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Going to be a fairly cold night. I better turn the heat back on.

It was a good day, busy but productive. Visited and hiked in two states. ๐Ÿšถ Certainly you could say that I practiced a lot of social distancing today in the sense of how many miles I traveled ๐Ÿš˜. I haven’t been to Massachusetts in quite a while, it was nice to go somewhere different for a change. Really just a drive down US 7 and Massachusetts 43 through Williamstown and Hadley, the later more rural and less gentrified. I like farms that are dirty, muddy and with lots of junk and livestock wandering around in the muck.

I actually planning on going to Grafton Lakes for a while but it was such a nice afternoon, why don’t I go a little further. I figured the Taconic Crest Trail would be a less popular than the state park. โ›ฒ There really wasn’t much crowds, which was really what I was looking for – not just for good health but to seek some solitude. ๐Ÿ™

I gased up the truck โ›ฝ and got groceries ๐Ÿ. I ended up stopping at the new Shop Rite in North Greenbush. They were remarkably well stocked at least for the products I wanted but I tell you I’m glad I bought toilet paper ๐Ÿšฝ two weeks ago before the nation went Corona Nuts. Ultimately though, I think economic growth and tax revenues are so valuable that a return to normalcy can’t be that far away. ๐Ÿ’ฐ If the stores are closed, they can’t pay rent and businesses can’t pay taxes and states can’t pay doctors or police officers. ๐Ÿšจ It will be very sad to hear about all the folks dying and hopefully it won’t be too many people I know personally but ultimately time marches on. โ™ฅ Sometimes the good die young.

Also repaired the plug ๐Ÿ”Œ on my car laptop charger and tested it out and it’s working great. This is important when I’m working from my truck as the DC charger is much more energy efficient, cutting the load on the batteries and solar panel by 20 percent or more. โšก Rather than converting the voltage to 120 volt AC, the car charger uses a DC boost converter to step the 12-15 volts up to 19.5 volts for the laptop. I also picked up a mobile broadband card from work for really shitty days โ˜ when I have no choice but to work from home. Also brought home my second laptop charger and my phone cradle as I figured it would be good to have home as nobody knows how long social distancing will last, although I still think it will be economics not healthcare that decides. ๐Ÿ’ฐ

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 16 degrees at 6am. 12 degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around February 10th. North wind around 6 mph. In 2019, we had light rain. It got down to 30 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1875.

Tonight will have a New ๐ŸŒš Moon. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Sunday, April 5. The darkest hour is at 1:03 am, followed by dawn at 6:29 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:57 am in the east (89ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Yeap, we’re past the first day of spring. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:34 am with sun in the east (95ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 44 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 41 degrees at 5pm. Six degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 9th. North wind 3 to 6 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 43 degrees. The record high of 81 was set in 2012. 7 inches of snow fell back in 1887.โ„

Tomorrow the priority is first thing to visit the laundromat. ๐Ÿšฟ Got to have clean clothes although that’s less of an issue when I work from Big Red while social distancing. Early on a Sunday morning is less likely to be crowded. Just try to maintain social space. I am not going to my parents house for Sunday dinner ๐Ÿฒ this week and that’s where I usually do my wash.

Ever since I took more generic Claritin D allergy medicine I a lot feel better ๐Ÿ’Š but still I want to stay away from my older parents in case besides my allergies I have a minor case of Coronavirus. ๐Ÿณ They really wanted me to stop at the house and drop off eggs that I picked up for them at the store but truth be told, if it’s more than allergic reaction to the mold in my apartment then I don’t want to get them sick and in the hospital, ๐Ÿฅeven just from tossing a case of eggs on their door ๐Ÿšช step.

I might also go out to Partridge Run later on. ๐Ÿšถ It would be nice to spend more time in the woods and get away from it all. I suspect up there if I choose wisely my route I’ll never run into another human being, at least not one who is carrying a gun and doing social distancing for a totally different reason. ๐Ÿ”ซ I know people are saying they’re hearing a lot more gun shots in the woods during the weekdays with so many kids out of school and business closed – people are shooting targets ๐ŸŽฏ and probably glass bottles ๐Ÿถ and crow season ๐Ÿฆ is still open.

In four weeks on April 18 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (286ยฐ) at 7:41 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 58 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 58 and 46 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 60 and 38 degrees. The record high of 90 degrees was set back in 1976.

Looking ahead, Average High is 60 ๐ŸŒผ is in 4 weeks, Average High is 70 ๐Ÿฎ is in 8 weeks, Memorial Day Weekend Starts ๐Ÿ•๏ธ is in 9 weeks and Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 13 weeks.

March 20, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 56 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Breezy, ๏ธ16 mph breeze from the west ๐ŸŒฌ . The dew point is 45 degrees. It was warmer earlier on – I went for my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ this evening with just a t shirt ๐Ÿ‘š on. I sat out back for a while but it feels cold now with the wind whipping around. For the first time in a while things will drop below zero Celsius. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 5 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Its been kind of a crazy week ๐Ÿ˜œ. It’s been a lot to navigate through with all the changes with everything closed and not having internet at home. ๐Ÿ’ป That said, I kind of like working out of my truck at least on nice sunny days. They did get me a laptop with mobile internet to use but I’m loathe to use it just because I don’t want to bring work home. ๐Ÿก I like to being able to check my social media and listen to videos while I work, so I’d rather use the public Wi-Fi. Great though watching so much nature while I work but I tell you lately, especially on nice days Five Rivers Environmental Education Center is a zoo. Managing bathroom ๐Ÿšฝ breaks is more difficult, I’ve been holding it and limiting my fluids until I can get home and use the toilet. Really trying to do the best I can to hold it all together. It’s not easy.

And then there is the economy, I’ve figured out how to make work at home work without internet by using the connection at the library ๐ŸŒ But while I’m employed, I keep wondering how long this social distancing can continue ๐Ÿ‘ช with billions lost in the economy every week. It’s not just my own losses on paper ๐ŸŽซ in the market – it’s what’s going to happen when the tax revenues stop coming in to the government and layoffs happen of government workers. I’ve actually not lost any real money on paper but a lot of my paper gains from the last few years are gone for now. But it won’t last that long. ๐Ÿ’ฐ You can’t just stop the economy and think cops ๐Ÿ‘ฎand nurses ๐Ÿฅ are going to get paid an ongoing basis with no tax revenue coming in. Things will turn around but its going to take time. No risk, no reward.

I guess in the end we will come out stronger but I’m still kind of nervous about making it all work. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ My situation is a lot better off than many people and I’ve tried to step up my hygiene but I read the statistics like everyone else and are well tuned into what the scientists are saying. I’m going to get it eventually and it won’t be fun but hopefully after the quarantine is done. Every time my nose feels a bit plugged ๐Ÿ‘ƒ I get worried but I’ve read the CDC guidance and I don’t think feeling stuffy from cleaning the mold in my apartment counts as CORVID 19, as I lack a fever or cough or trouble breathing. Stress over it all though is bad. But I’ll make it through it.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 29th. Northwest wind around 17 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of -1 occurred back in 1956.

Tonight will have a New ๐ŸŒš Moon. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Saturday, April 4. The darkest hour is at 1:04 am, followed by dawn at 6:31 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:59 am in the east (89ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 53 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:36 am with sun in the east (96ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 47 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 44 degrees at 5pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 16th. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph. The wind will make it feel a bit cold. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1921. 6 inches of snow fell back in 1905.โ„

Tomorrow I should run to the recycling center โ™ป to get rid of those cans and bottles. ๐Ÿถ Better check in the morning that they’re open. I also need to get to the store, especially for frozen vegetables as they were out. I have the basics and I’m not that concerned if I run out. I’m sure in a week or two this craziness will die down. ๐Ÿข Business leaders might put up with this for another week or two but at some point they’re going to get fed up an intentional crashing of the economy and governments will get starved of revenue. You can’t borrow if there are no investors.

I also want to get out somewhere away from the crowds ๐Ÿ‘ช in the woods but that’s easier said than done. With everything else closed people are pilling out in the woods. I should plan a trip to somewhere more obscure I guess where I have a chance of finding parking ๐Ÿ…ฟ. I also don’t want to go super far away. Camping โ›บ at one point was on my list but I really want to do that for two or more nights, so it’s not a quick pack and unpack. Plus I think that wind tomorrow will be real cold. It’s been such a long week I wouldn’t mind a drive way out to the country. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ

My plan remains to take some time off from work around Easter ๐Ÿฐ and so some fishing ๐ŸŽฃ and camping โ›บ. Where I typically go there are few or no people. Probably have to get gas, โ›ฝ I might where plastic gloves fueling up or at least make sure to use lots of hand sanitizer when I go back into my truck. I’m guessing around that date will be the peak of the crisis but even as soon as that the virus might be burning itself out and things reopening. We will see. I can’t imagine they’ll ban the back country.

In four weeks on April 17 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (285ยฐ) at 7:40 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 59 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 62 and 32 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 59 and 38 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 2002.

Looking ahead, Good Friday โœ๏ธ is in 3 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 6 weeks, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 11 weeks, Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 3 months and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 10 months.

March 20, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Spring ๐ŸŒท! The sun passed the equator as the most direct spot its hitting the earth. ๐ŸŒŽ Three weeks to Good Friday โœ๏ธ. Rain showers and 47 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜”March showers bring April mud. ๐Ÿ‘ข At least now I have good boots for that purpose. There is a south breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 5 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Today will have showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. โšก Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 71 degrees at 5pm. 25 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around May 20th. Maximum dew point of 58 at 4pm. South wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Should be fun to watch from the Coronavirus office. ๐Ÿ’ฆA year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 2012. That would be nice. 7 inches of snow fell back in 1944.โ„

With the lack of sun โ˜€ might be another tight day for power to run my laptop for work ๐Ÿ’ป but it worked out yesterday and should be okay today too. It turns out that my laptop draws less current than I originally expected, but I should fix the plug ๐Ÿ”Œ on my DC to DC car charger for my laptop this weekend to further improve efficiency by cutting out the inverter loses. I have a he adapter but I accidentally broke the plug on it. The main thing is figuring out which is the hot and ground on the plug when I splice on another plug. I might eventually be getting an assigned computer for work should the shutdown extend multiple weeks but I was told that the computers were back ordered.

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:04 pm with sun having an altitude of 47.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-23.4ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Shorter than Mini Mike, a fact the folks slinging cow poop in their spreaders appreciate. ๐Ÿ’ฉ Soil science is fascinating, been studying it lately, reading more about it online. Did you see that video that Our Wyoming Life posted about Mini Mike and agriculture a few weeks ago? The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:31 pm with the sun in the west (265ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (271ยฐ) starting at 7:05 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:36 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:09 pm. At sunset, look for rain showers ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 64 degrees. The dew point will be 54 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 14 mph with gusts up to 25mph. Today will have 12 hours and 10 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7pm, then a slight chance of showers between 7pm and 9pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 31 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 29th. Northwest wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 38 degrees. The record low of -1 occurred back in 1956.

Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 44 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 16th. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 48 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1921. 6 inches of snow fell back in 1905.โ„

So tomorrow I’m going to the recycling center โ™ป to get rid of my bottles and cans ๐Ÿถ and then finish going through my camping gear and getting ready for the upcoming season. โ›บ My sleeping bags have been hung up to air out, my camp stove cleaned. I thought about going to Aldi for groceries and Schodack Island for a walk ๐Ÿšถ but I don’t know, it might be crowded.

Looking ahead to Sunday, sunny, with a high near 41. North wind 3 to 6 mph. โ˜€ Typical average high for the weekend is 46 degrees. Assuming that I don’t have other things to do in the Pine Bush, I am thinking of hiking up at Partridge Run for the bulk of the day, probably mostly on the dirt roads because the trails will be muddy unless of course I wear my boots. I like doing more nature study and observation. ๐Ÿฆ

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Good Friday โœ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm with dusk at 8:01 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 50 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

In four weeks on April 17 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (285ยฐ) at 7:40 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 59 seconds later then today. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny and temperatures between 62 and 32 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 59 and 38 degrees. The record high of 91 degrees was set back in 2002. Nicer weather is just around the corner.

Looking ahead, Good Friday โœ๏ธ is in 3 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 6 weeks, 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 11 weeks, Last Day of Session ๐Ÿ› is in 3 months, Summer ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 3 months and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 10 months.

March 19, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy First Day of Calendar Spring. ๐ŸŒธ By of course maybe one hour, the first full day is Friday. Rain showers and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜” Calm wind. It could be snow. But it also could be nicer. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 7 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Today will rain likely, mainly before 9am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a high of 49 degrees at 5pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 26th. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. I’ll take it but more sun โ˜€ would be good for my mobile office. ๐Ÿข A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 2012. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1971.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:04 pm with sun having an altitude of 47.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-23.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:30 pm with the sun in the west (264ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (271ยฐ) starting at 7:04 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:34 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:08 pm. At sunset, look for mostly cloudy skies โ˜ and temperatures around 47 degrees. There will be a calm wind. Today will have 12 hours and 7 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 4am. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 43 degrees at 12am. 16 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around May 1st. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 27 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1967.

Cool but sunny this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, sunny, with a high near 43. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 41. Typical average high for the weekend is 46 degrees. I plan to stay in town this weekend just because it’s been a crazy ๐Ÿ˜œ week and I want to be ready for next week – and in a few weeks I’m planning on going on a road trip. That said, I’ll get the bottles and cans to the recycling center, โ™ป finish cleaning up my camping gear in my truck, and getting ready for camping season when the time comes. It’s not going to be that far away, as far as I can tell, although who knows we might still get another snow storm.ย  ๐Ÿงน No guarantees for an early spring at this point, although it does look promising — if the darn wind dies down a bit.๐Ÿƒ

Looking ahead, there are 7 weeks until Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 8:02 pm with dusk at 8:34 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 66 and 49 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 67 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1930.

Along the Trail

March 17, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 42 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ Such an odd Saint Patrick’s Day ๐Ÿ€without public the celebrations due to Coronavirus but at least the roads are a heck of a lot safer without the drunks. Traffic was very light driving back from the Pine Bush.

It was a nice evening ๐ŸŒƒ and a nice walk in the Pine Bush. ๐Ÿšถ The Thruway was noisy as always but once I got away from it things quieted down. ๐Ÿธ I heard an owl hooting and what sounded like coyotes calling and I flushed a deer out walking. That 18650 lithium battery flashlight ๐Ÿ”ฆ I got from China for $3 is great, I’m going to order another one or two. After dark didn’t see anyone in the Pine Bush but before dark was quite hoping. ๐ŸŒฒ

Also during some downtime in the afternoon at work, I came home and unpacked more of my camping gear โ›บ truck, organized and cleaned some of the gear, hung up sleeping bags and continued getting ready for camping season.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 30 degrees at 6am. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 27th. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1900.

The darkest hour is at 1:04 am, followed by dawn at 6:36 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:04 am in the east (91ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Tomorrow will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 51 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 30th. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the afternoon. Going to be a beautiful day. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. March 17, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy St. Patrick’s Day ๐Ÿ€! Seems eerily odd quiet with everything being shutdown, well except for the temple of consumerism in the Pine Bush, Crossgates Maul. Three weeks to 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡. Rain showers and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ„ There is a south breeze at 11 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Its funny without the bus ride to work ๐Ÿš I don’t have the time to put together my daily blog posts. But at least I don’t have to get up as early although I will have to figure in some drive time to locations with internet as I’m not going to get internet access for working from home. Some days I will be able to manage to get by without the internet beyond my phone. ๐Ÿ“ฑ My hope is that most of the days when I will need full internet access, it will be sunny and warm so I can work from my truck and my solar panel will keep my laptop charged. ๐Ÿ’ป Today isn’t one of those days but hopefully I won’t need full internet access all day and I can run home to charge things.

At least I don’t have a stuffy nose ๐Ÿ‘ƒ this morning. I was a little concerned yesterday when I felt really congested but now I’m fine. And even if I do get a cold it won’t matter much as I’m working home.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow showers before 8am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy ๐ŸŒฆ, with a high of 50 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 28th. South wind 8 to 13 mph. Another quite mild day. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Just rain here but they did get a dusting of snow in the Catskills. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1990. 4.1 inches of snow fell back in 1982.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:04 pm with sun having an altitude of 46.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-24.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Going to be cloudy not much of a shadow today. Or solar power for that matter. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:28 pm with the sun in the west (263ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (269ยฐ) starting at 7:02 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 53 seconds with dusk around 7:32 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:06 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ŸŒƒ and temperatures around 46 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. At least mild. Today will have 12 hours and 2 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 29 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 24th. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1900.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 40. Typical average high for the weekend is 46 degrees. Sound a bit cool but I’m still thinking ๐Ÿ’ญ a little bit about heading out of town this weekend. Nobody is going to be around coughing on me in the woods.

Been such a mild winter that spring doesn’t seem like all that big of a deal. ๐ŸŒธ Things should hopefully green up relatively quickly although it’s always slow in the Adirondacks. Then out come the black flies. ๐Ÿœ

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ when the sun will be setting at 7:28 pm with dusk at 7:57 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 68 and 34 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 55 degrees. We hit a record high of 87 back in 2010.

March 13, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly clear and 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west breeze at 15 mph. ๐Ÿƒ with gusts up to 25 mph ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ. Honestly, I don’t think it’s that windy out but what do I know. Earlier on I had my windows open and the fresh air was great! Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Such odd times we live in these days. ๐Ÿ‘พI don’t watch the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ as I don’t have a television ๐Ÿ“บ and have little interest in hearing about the hysteria on the radio but truth be told, I’ve scrolled through enough social media to here that most of the public institutions are shutting down in New York. My reaction: buy a case of Corona beer ๐Ÿป and some lyme and maybe head out camping in Madison County or Schoharie County. โ›บ Actually that’s not a done deal as it might be kind of cloudy in Madison County โ˜ and I still have a bit of a sinus infecti that I’ve had for two weeks now that don’t want to get worse. You know these days, it’s harder to suck it up and go to work when you’re sinus are plugged or you cough due to choking on water ๐Ÿ’ฆ and everyone looks at you like you’re a super spreader of Coronavirus.๐Ÿ˜ท

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 33 degrees at 4am. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 3rd. West wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 39 degrees. The record low of -6 occurred back in 1948.

Tonight will have a Last Quarter ๐ŸŒ— Moon with 75% illuminated. The moon will rise at 11:56 pm. The Worm ๐Ÿ› Moon is on Saturday, March 28. The darkest hour is at 1:06 am, followed by dawn at 6:43 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:11 am in the east (93ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 43 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:48 am with sun in the east (99ยฐ). Tonight will have 12 hours and 7 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 55 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 52 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 1st. West wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1946. 17 inches of snow fell back in 2017.โ„

It does sound like a nice day but windy ๐Ÿƒ. I am also concerned about the roads being pretty sloppy and some ice hanging around. I thought about heading to the Brookfield horse ๐Ÿด camp but despite it looking like there isn’t much snow in Hamilton I’m concerned about snow banks blocking the road. Plus with that wind, even with a fair amount of rain today, I’m a bit worried about sparks. ๐Ÿ”ฅ You can have a campfire but it has to small and controlled. Small and fire ain’t a thing for me especially if it’s going to be a cold night with the wind and I have a lot of accumulated goodies to burn.

And money ๐Ÿ’ต is tight again and I should be doing more research for Save the Pine Bush tomorrow. Being responsible versus having fun. Plus it’s a lot of work to pack and unpack for one night. And Grace wants to join me with an expert in the Pine Bush on Sunday. ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒThat said, no going to the library this weekend – closed due to Coronavirus hysteria. ๐Ÿ“š

In four weeks on April 10 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (282ยฐ) at 7:32 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 32 minutes and 10 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 50 and 32 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 56 and 35 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1922.

In four weeks, that is the week after Easter ๐Ÿฐ I’m thinking of taking off a week or at least part of a week for some social distancing, that is a road trip. I’ll be in the wilderness, doubt I’ll see many people. Maybe the Finger Lakes although a spring Adirondacks trip would be fun. I haven’t really decided, a lot depends on how much snow there is up north. The Adirondacks often hold snow into May. Another option is to do a fishing ๐ŸŽฃ and camping trips to Madison and Cortland County.

Looking ahead, Spring ๐ŸŒท is in 1 week, Good Friday โœ๏ธ is in 4 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is in 7 weeks and 8:30 PM Sunset ๏ธโ›ฑ๏ธ is in 12 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 69 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
