March 17, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy St. Patrick’s Day πŸ€! Seems eerily odd quiet with everything being shutdown, well except for the temple of consumerism in the Pine Bush, Crossgates Maul. Three weeks to 7:30 PM Sunset πŸŒ‡. Rain showers and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. ❄ There is a south breeze at 11 mph. πŸƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 4 am. β˜ƒοΈ

Its funny without the bus ride to work 🚍 I don’t have the time to put together my daily blog posts. But at least I don’t have to get up as early although I will have to figure in some drive time to locations with internet as I’m not going to get internet access for working from home. Some days I will be able to manage to get by without the internet beyond my phone. πŸ“± My hope is that most of the days when I will need full internet access, it will be sunny and warm so I can work from my truck and my solar panel will keep my laptop charged. πŸ’» Today isn’t one of those days but hopefully I won’t need full internet access all day and I can run home to charge things.

At least I don’t have a stuffy nose πŸ‘ƒ this morning. I was a little concerned yesterday when I felt really congested but now I’m fine. And even if I do get a cold it won’t matter much as I’m working home.

Today will have a chance of rain and snow showers before 8am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy 🌦, with a high of 50 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 28th. South wind 8 to 13 mph. Another quite mild day. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. Just rain here but they did get a dusting of snow in the Catskills. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 36 degrees. The record high of 75 was set in 1990. 4.1 inches of snow fell back in 1982.❄

Solar noon 🌞 is at 1:04 pm with sun having an altitude of 46.3Β° from the due south horizon (-24.5Β° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 5.7 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Going to be cloudy not much of a shadow today. Or solar power for that matter. The golden hour πŸ… starts at 6:28 pm with the sun in the west (263Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west (269Β°) starting at 7:02 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 53 seconds with dusk around 7:32 pm, which is one minute and 10 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:06 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies πŸŒƒ and temperatures around 46 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 9 mph. At least mild. Today will have 12 hours and 2 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌀, with a low of 29 degrees at 6am. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 24th. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 25 degrees. The record low of -8 occurred back in 1900.

A picture perfect weekend on tap. 😎 Saturday, mostly sunny, with a high near 42. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 40. Typical average high for the weekend is 46 degrees. Sound a bit cool but I’m still thinking πŸ’ a little bit about heading out of town this weekend. Nobody is going to be around coughing on me in the woods.

🌹🌻🌼Only 2 days remain until the first day of calendar spring!🌹🌻🌼

Been such a mild winter that spring doesn’t seem like all that big of a deal. 🌸 Things should hopefully green up relatively quickly although it’s always slow in the Adirondacks. Then out come the black flies. 🐜

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until 7:30 PM Sunset πŸŒ‡ when the sun will be setting at 7:28 pm with dusk at 7:57 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy and temperatures between 68 and 34 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 55 degrees. We hit a record high of 87 back in 2010.
