April 6, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. Back to work from home. It in my case the library and Five Rivers. I expect to be a lot busier this week. ๐Ÿ’ผ Three weeks to Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ. Mostly sunny and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a northwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. You might say it’s a pretty pleasant day and it’s going to be quite nice later on. I am going to try to work outside as much as possible — either in my backyard or later on at Five Rivers. After work I’ll go for a nice walk. Hopefully the ground won’t be too wet as my boots are kind of leaky and the new ones have yet to ship.๐Ÿ‘ข

This morning I plan to go to the grocery store ๐Ÿ› and fill up my pantry. Just Hannaford today. Plus go to the laundromat. I can probably start my day using the laptop ๐Ÿ’ป and later on go home and work from home until lunchtime and then go out to Five Rivers to work in the afternoon shift, where I will have unlimited library internet and I won’t have to pay for electricity, as the solar well will be doing all of the work.

Today will be sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 62 degrees at 3pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 23rd. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 59 degrees. The record high of 82 was set in 1921. 17.3 inches of snow fell back in 1982.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:58 pm with sun having an altitude of 54.1ยฐ from the due south horizon (-16.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.3 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:50 pm with the sun in the west (274ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (280ยฐ) starting at 7:25 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 57 seconds with dusk around 7:56 pm, which is one minute and 8 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Worm Full ๐ŸŒ Moon in the east-southeast (106ยฐ) at an altitude of 21ยฐ from the horizon, 226,328 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:31 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 55 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 11 mph. Should be a great moon lit night, not too cold. Kind of wish I had a case of beer to drink out back. ๐Ÿป Like some nice cold Carona with lime. Maybe for the weekend? Today will have 12 hours and 59 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 36 degrees at 5am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 11th. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 34 degrees. The record low of 13 occurred back in 1982.

I activated the new blog theme for now, but I might have to pull it down if I find further bugs. The mobile version needs some work, but I will work with what I have for now, โœ and make improvements on an ongoing basis. We will see. So far I’m happy with the new version but it’s quick enough switch back. I really like the full screen photos but I know the style sheet needs to be reworked for mobile ๐Ÿ“ฑ devices.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, partly sunny, with a high near 50. Easter, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 55. Chance of precipitation is 30%. ๐Ÿฐ Typical average high for the weekend is 56 degrees.

The long weekend sounds nice but cool for April ๐Ÿƒ but it doesn’t seem like much snow is left – and cold for April is a relative thing – it means the weather will feel more like early November weather then early spring. โ›บ If I were to camp, definitely would bring the heater but probably not pitch the tent for hot tenting. Long sleeve weather and the vest as nights would probably drop down into the twenties. Most of April looks that way – it seems like in recent years that April has been quite cool following mild winters. โ›„ We could still get another snow storm but at this point I think it’s unlikely. Of course, staying home ๐Ÿก would save money ๐Ÿ’ต and make the internet trolls happy. ๐Ÿ‘ผ I’ve blocked most of them on Facebook.

That meme I shared on Facebook and the blog about wearing preg testing gloves to pump gas โ›ฝ really kind of cracked me up. ๐Ÿฎ I bet for plastic gloves they aren’t that cheap. But I guess it’s more sanitary for the cow if your going to ram your hand up their anus to feel if they have a baby ๐Ÿ‘ถ to wear a glove. I’m sure the real old time cowboys never did.

As previously noted, there are 3 weeks until Arbor Day ๐ŸŒณ when the sun will be setting at 7:51 pm with dusk at 8:21 pm. On that day in 2019, we had rain showers, partly cloudy and temperatures between 50 and 40 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 63 degrees. We hit a record high of 91 back in 1962. Late April doesn’t seem that far away but to think May is just around the corner is a bit more shocking in my book ๐Ÿ“™.

Farm Along Ostelic River

April 2, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Happy Thursday. Five weeks to Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ•. By then things will have greened up a lot. Mostly cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ There is a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The skies will clear Saturday around 3 pm.

Today will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 50 degrees at 3pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 29th. North wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Kind of another cold and gray day out. โ˜ But spring is definitely coming. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 2010. 8 inches of snow fell back in 1924.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 52.5ยฐ from the due south horizon (-18.3ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 4.6 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. Sun is getting much higher in the sky now. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:46 pm with the sun in the west (272ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (278ยฐ) starting at 7:20 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 55 seconds with dusk around 7:51 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon in the south-southeast (148ยฐ) at an altitude of 67ยฐ from the horizon, 232,170 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:26 pm. At sunset, look for rain ๐ŸŒง and temperatures around 46 degrees. There will be a north-northwest breeze at 14 mph with gusts up to 24mph. Today will have 12 hours and 48 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 52 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will have a chance of rain, mainly after 8pm. Cloudy ๐ŸŒง, with a low of 40 degrees at 1am. Seven degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 22nd. Northwest wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. That said, I’m looking forward to nice summer nights sitting out back. ๐ŸŒƒ Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2019, we had cloudy skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of 16 occurred back in 1954.

Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐Ÿ˜• Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 55. Calm wind. Sunday, partly sunny, with a high near 60. Typical average high for the weekend is 53 degrees.

Honestly I don’t think this weekend will be pretty nice. โ˜ I do need to get to the store ๐Ÿฌ, gas up โ›ฝ and do laundry. ๐Ÿ‘š๐Ÿ‘– I really like Aldi, it’s so fast and easy out which is good during the pandemic. What else to do? If it’s really nice on Sunday, hike at Partridge Run? Maybe a similar route to two weeks ago but maybe further back on some of the roads in the back section? Probably want to stay off trails as they are going to be real muddy. ๐Ÿฝ Then probably Thursday leave for the Adirondacks if the weather is good.

I still want to get the alignment issue looked into my truck, I’m going to decide on Friday if I should do it now ๐Ÿ”งor wait for the pandemic to be over – my concern is that may be a while and when it’s over the shop may be very backed up. But who knows, they might not be open now.

Looking ahead, there are 5 weeks until Flower Moon ๐ŸŒ• when the sun will be setting at 8:02 pm with dusk at 8:34 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 66 and 49 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 67 degrees. We hit a record high of 92 back in 1930.

Off Blueberry Hill

April 1, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 46 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a north breeze at 10 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. It’s a nice moonlit night ๐ŸŒƒ and with lots of stars โœจ and not too cold. It is That said, with the breeze it’s cold out back and I think I’ll retire to bed shortly where it’s warmer.

It was a nice day for a Hump Day. ๐Ÿช I haven’t been following Homesteady on YouTube to see if they have any more of their cammel dairy videos, although they still have their Jerseys too. ๐Ÿฎ Camel milk apparently is good for children and their nursing mothers who are allergic to cows milk. Need a special stall a camels aren’t shaped like cows, even though they have four quarters and teats like cows. Great YouTube channel though.

Another pretty quiet day at work, and I worked from either outside or in my truck all afternoon. ๐Ÿ’ป I think people were impressed by me in the Zoom meeting from my backyard with the trees, the High School and the Heldebergs in the background. Even though my apartment isn’t very nice there is a lot to be said about where I live in Delmar. I’ll probably stay here until I leave the state for good, I just can’t imagine buying land in New York.

Maybe it’s because I know how the sausage ๐Ÿฃare made. Yeap, they grind up all the low desirability cuts of meat to tenderize it, use part of the intestines for the casing. That book ๐Ÿ“™ I read some ago on butchering was fantastic. Sounds gross but then you realize it’s just a mixture of grass and fermented corn silage the cows been eating all day. Almost all corn silage ๐ŸŒฝ are and the majority of hay fed to cows is produced on the farm where they’re raised in New York State, although sometimes other grains like corn itself are purchased. But that’s beyond the point, I was in Clarksville today and it got me thinking about it all. At least I got paid on Tuesday unlike state employees or the many non essential employees they have been laid off during Coronavirus. For that I can thank my lucky stars. ๐ŸŒŸ

I decided after going out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center to hike Bennett Hill again. ๐Ÿšถ It was a nice evening up on Bennett Hill but it got cloudy โ›… later on. A lot of people up there again, which is annoying because I really take serious being at 10 or more feet away from people – or even further in physical distancing, as the term is. I’ve noticed the last two times I’ve been up there it’s been super clear – I think the reduced haze is from less air pollution due to fewer drivers and businesses being open. That certainly is the case in Los Angeles. Then I came home and went for my evening ๐ŸŒƒ walk on this very moonlit evening.

Five Rivers was nice – spring peepers are out in force around Skeeter Pond.๐Ÿธ I got a whole lot of podcasts and videos to listen to next few days on the exercise bike or elsewhere. My neighbor has been gone all day – he works shift work, I wonder if he’s a nurse or involved in the Coronavirus response. I also got a text saying that my phone plan is giving me an extra 10 gigabytes monthly through the end of May, so I can use over a gigabyte of high speed data each day or 35 gigabytes per 30 days. Kind of nice to not have to worry about bandwidth so much on my phone not having internet at home.

Tonight will be partly cloudy ๐ŸŒค, with a low of 34 degrees at 6am. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 6th. North wind 7 to 10 mph. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 22 degrees. The record low of 17 occurred back in 1964. I’m hoping at this point the heat can be off until November.

Tonight will have a Waxing Gibbous ๐ŸŒ” Moon with 58% illuminated. At 9 PM, the moon was in the southwest (222ยฐ) at an altitude of 66ยฐ from the horizon, some 234,681 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by September 26th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ Being relatively close to the earth its quite bright. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 1:00 am, followed by dawn at 6:09 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:38 am in the east (83ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 44 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:15 am with sun in the east (89ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 12 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 51 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a high of 53 degrees at 3pm. One degree above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 3rd. Northwest wind 9 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. I think the morning is supposed to be better with clouds by afternoon. I have the work laptop so I won’t have to go to the library or Five Rivers for work stuff, and I have plenty of podcasts and videos to watch at home if I want. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 53 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 2010. 8 inches of snow fell back in 1924.โ„

I‘ve decided this weekend is a good one to stay in town for but assuming that the weather is nice for the long Easter weekend ๐ŸฐI am still thinking about 3 nights in the Adirondacks leaving Thursday after work or maybe actually jotting out a bit early. I doubt where I am I’ll see any one else. Do some hiking and fishing ๐ŸŽฃ, making sure to stay six feet or even further AWAY. โ˜บ Still some snow up north but not a lot and I expect it to continue melting next week.

Continuing on and off to work on the updated blog theme. ๐Ÿ“ It’s a work in progress with many parts unfinished but it will focus on being more of an immersive full screen experience like some of those popular photo blogs. ๐Ÿ“ท Maybe I won’t adopt the new theme, I’m not sure but I have the time to work on it, although soon my work load will pick back up – but in the meantime I’m still saving a lot of time by not having the commute or ironing shirts ๐Ÿ‘š or getting prepared for work each day and leaving at a set time.

From time to time I see the advertisement for Northwood Mapping a business out of Wisconsin which does professional mapping for land owners and hunters. ๐ŸŒ He has some interesting products for sure, stuff I could probably do myself and have printed professionally – the thing is print shop costs aren’t cheap and it’s tough making it self employed. Folks do it like Lynne Jackson from Save the Pine Bush but it ain’t easy. Remarkably expensive to run a business. At any rate it doesn’t hurt to hone my mapping skills๐Ÿ—พ and continue to get my name out there with the blog.

In four weeks on April 29 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (291ยฐ) at 7:53 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 51 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly sunny skies for a while than rain showers and temperatures between 58 and 31 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 64 and 42 degrees. The record high of 88 degrees was set back in 1888.

Looking ahead, Pink Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 1 weeks, Tax Day ๐Ÿ’ฐ is in 2 weeks, Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ is in 3 weeks, May ๐Ÿ•Š is a month away, June ๐Ÿน is in 2 months, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 12 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 42 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 50 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

East Towards Sherburne

March 31, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly clear and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ŸŒƒ For a while it cleared out this evening after sunset and it was really nice. There is a north-northeast breeze at 6 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at around 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

I sat out back for a while with a book ๐Ÿ“– and it was nice โœจ until it started to get cold. For a while the moon was out and the stars were shining. ๐ŸŒ— Earlier on I walked down to the Elm Avenue Park โ›ฒ to get some podcasts to listen ๐ŸŽง to as I haven’t been on the internet since Sunday except for my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ and I guess you could say the Zoom session for work but that was on my work computer which is just for work.

Today I spent a lot of time playing with an experimental theme for the blog. ๐Ÿ“ I am trying to make the pictures more prominent, tell my story and experiences better. I figure while I’m home I should see how to better my blog before camping season starts. I am not sure if I will use the new design or only parts of it but I like experimenting with code.

Another pretty quiet day at work, it was fun setting up the lights and figuring out how to do Zoom ๐ŸŽฅ and make it look good on my end. I’ve done other training classes on Zoom but those have been mass trainings with the camera off. I just know when things finally start getting back to normal at work, things will be so busy to make up for lost time. At least by then hopefully the weather is nice enough that I can work outside most days. ๐ŸŒณI don’t mind the idea of social distancing under a tree on a sixty five degree with a laptop, as long as I’m not stuck inside my moldy apartment.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 30 degrees at 6am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 28th. Northeast wind around 6 mph becoming calm after midnight. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 26 degrees. The record low of 9 occurred back in 1923.

Tonight will have a First Quarter ๐ŸŒ“ Moon with 47% illuminated. At 8 PM, the moon was in the southwest (222ยฐ) at an altitude of 67ยฐ from the horizon, some 237,670 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by September 28th. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บ The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 1:00 am, followed by dawn at 6:11 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:39 am in the east (83ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:17 am with sun in the east (90ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 15 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 53 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 55 degrees at 4pm. Three degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 7th. Light north wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. A year ago, we had light rain in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 42 degrees. The record high of 77 was set in 1986. 5 inches of snow fell back in 1924.โ„

I decided against the Adirondacks for this weekend but maybe the long weekend next. โ›บ Not a lot of snow left along the East Branch but it looks like at this point it will be melting away. I assume I’ll have Good Friday off next week. ๐ŸฐAs Easter dinner with the family seems unlikely at this point, I won’t have to rush back next Sunday and there will be virtually no traffic. But who knows what the weather will be like by next week. I could use some social distancing next to a fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ with some cold ones in the Adirondacks. If I do go up north, I’m not going to hike any mountains but I might hike back to a remote lake or waterfall when I’m up there where I’m not likely to run into many people.

My thought about you working from the Green Mountain National Forest come nicer weather in May โ›บ is probably not going to come to fruition with the state requiring out of state visitors to quarantine. It was a crazy idea, truth be told but with my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ and laptop ๐Ÿ’ป and solar on my truck I probably could have made it work. After all you can stay in the Green Mountain National Forest for 14 days roadside camping without a permit. Having ice to keep the milk cold would have been a pain but I know the areas up there where I have decent phone service. I’d probably remove my front New York plate once I set up camp to be safe (Vermont has become a one plate state).

I am a little hesitant to get my truck worked on right away ๐Ÿ”งbecause I know the alignment issue isn’t essential but it ought to be addressed. I was going to wait until I got new tires but I want to try to get another year out of the existing tires to buy more time to decide what I want to do with Big Red – go carless for a few years? Not sure. The thing is I know it’s not an essential repair and every social contact is one more chance of picking up Coronavirus. ๐Ÿ‘พ While I’m relatively young and healthy, and I still have the good state health plan, I don’t want to be on a respirator at the hospital during the middle of a pandemic. ๐ŸฅLet’s be honest, cars are full of greasy and dirt and mechanics are driving different peoples cars all day and aren’t necessarily washing hands between cars. ๐Ÿš˜

In four weeks on April 28 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (291ยฐ) at 7:52 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 52 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 51 and 40 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 64 and 42 degrees. The record high of 92 degrees was set back in 1990.

Looking ahead, 7:30 PM Sunset ๐ŸŒ‡ is in 1 weeks, Cinco de Mayo ๐Ÿค  is in 5 weeks, Primary Day ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 12 weeks, Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 31 weeks and Election Day 2020 ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ is in 31 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 51 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Frame 65

March 27, 2020 Morning

Good morning! Yeah, it’s Friday! Two weeks to Good Friday โœ๏ธ. I am thinking of I get Good Friday off that would be nice to tack another day on the weekend for you road / camping trip. โ›บ I normally socially distance when I travel and camp as I like having big fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ , listening to music ๐ŸŽถ and shooting guns ๐Ÿ”ซ and I can wear gloves when I pump gas. โ›ฝ Trust me, you know my preferred music type, you want to social distance me.

Partly cloudy and 45 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a north-northwest breeze at 8 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Incredibly beautiful morning. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow 2 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Such a nice morning. ๐Ÿ˜Ž Too bad it’s a work day and while I’m not stuck in an office I am sure projects will be coming my way so I can’t get too far from my phone ๐Ÿ“ฑ and laptop. I am actually getting a work laptop for official duties which is good because I am not a big fan of using my personal laptop as I don’t like mixing work and personal stuff. I certainly don’t want to use a work VPN on my personal computer for obvious reasons. ๐Ÿ’ป

Today will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 58 degrees at 3pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 14th. Northwest wind around 8 mph. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.โ„

Solar noon ๐ŸŒž is at 1:01 pm with sun having an altitude of 50.2ยฐ from the due south horizon (-20.6ยฐ vs. 6/21). First above fifty degrees in the sky – that should lead to some nice warm spring days. A six foot person will cast a 5 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐Ÿ… starts at 6:39 pm with the sun in the west (269ยฐ). ๐Ÿ“ธ The sunset is in the west (275ยฐ) starting at 7:13 pm and lasts for 2 minutes and 54 seconds with dusk around 7:44 pm, which is one minute and 9 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon in the west (261ยฐ) at an altitude of 30ยฐ from the horizon, 248,511 miles away. ๐Ÿš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 8:18 pm. At sunset, look for mostly clear skies ๐ŸŒ„ and temperatures around 50 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 8 mph. Today will have 12 hours and 31 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over yesterday.

Tonight will be mostly clear ๐ŸŒƒ, with a low of 29 degrees at 6am. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 26th. I’m surprised the average low is now thirty – true sign that spring is coming. ๐ŸŒธ Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 33 degrees. The record low of 3 occurred back in 1923.

Tomorrow will rain likely, mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds โ›… , with a high of 54 degrees at 3pm. Four degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 5th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. A year ago, we had partly cloudy skies in the morning with some clearing in the afternoon. The high last year was 55 degrees. The record high of 85 was set in 1945. 14.2 inches of snow fell back in 1932.โ„

Looking ahead to Sunday, rain before 8am, then showers likely, mainly after 11am. ๐Ÿ’ฆ High near 51. Southeast wind 8 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Typical average high for the weekend is 50 degrees.

I seriously thought about heading out of town this weekend โ›บ but I think Saturday will be quite cloudy โ˜and I would be taking down camp in the cold rain. Plus I really should work to save money – between car insurance and rent I have $1,100 leaving my bank account today,๐Ÿ’ธ although fortunately next Tuesday is a pay day.๐Ÿ’ฐ That said, I owe New York State over $300 in two weeks ๐Ÿ’ต between the quarterly tax payment and the usual credit card bill, as I rarely use cash ๐Ÿ’ณ.

That said, maybe next weekend. ๐Ÿ’ญ The long range looks very good for Friday through Sunday, a week from now โ›บ and trout season ๐ŸŽฃ will be open. Question is how busy I’ll be during those days. Not sure, but if it’s relatively quiet around the office ๐Ÿข, we’ll home office I could take next Friday off.

But as previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Good Friday โœ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 7:32 pm with dusk at 8:01 pm. On that day in 2019, we had partly cloudy skies and temperatures between 50 and 32 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 56 degrees. That might also be a good weekend to camp โ›บ. We hit a record high of 86 back in 1922.

March 26, 2020 Night

Good evening! Partly cloudy and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ›… There is a south breeze at 9 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. Laying out back in my truck cap, reading ๐Ÿ“– a book about tiny house living. Nice evening. The snow is gone once again but we could some day once again have snow in the closing days of March or April. But I’m not urging it on. โ„ Honest, I want the snow to be home so I can travel and camp. At least it won’t be cold for a while. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Saturday around 4 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

It was another pretty quiet day at work, ๐Ÿ’ป I went down to the library for a while to do some research I couldn’t just do on my phone. I then came home and sat my phone and nothing further came in. I ended up sitting out back, working on some blog posts and doing some reading ๐Ÿ“– until it was time to clock out. ๐Ÿ•’ Things have been so disorderly since the mandatory work from home started and while it’s good to be employed – unlike the millions that aren’t – it’s scary times for sure. ๐Ÿ‘พ I just keep reading the headlines and I get the numbers game society is up against and both the crushing economic challenges we face and the near impossibility of stopping a virus that doubles every six days, which means every six day you raise it to the n-th power.

I just want things to return to normal. ๐Ÿš Get up every morning, catch the bus downtown, take the express bus home at five o’clock, ๐Ÿ•”head out of town in the summer to camp โ›บ, not excessively worry about washing one’s hands or touching a public door knob. ๐Ÿšช Simple things that are gone from our lives today. Old routines everyday at work, a predictable future ๐Ÿ”ฎ. It does save time working from home and I can sleep ๐Ÿ˜ด in late but I liked the old routine, visiting my family ๐Ÿ‘ช and seeing my colleagues at work.

Later on in the evening, I walked down to the park โ›ฒ. Odd to go down there on such a nice night and see nobody there except some outlaw teens playing basketball ๐Ÿ€ at least until the cops ๐Ÿ‘ฎ see it and tell them to go home. I thought ๐Ÿ’ญ about bringing my book down there to read ๐Ÿ“– but truth be told I didn’t really want to sit on the park bench and sitting on grass is not a good idea as I’ve picked up ticks there before and this is a bad tick year. ๐Ÿœ

Honestly I don’t want to get Coronavirus if I can all avoid it – I’ve been very socially isolated and when I’m out walking ๐Ÿšถ I try hard to maintain distance. The last public place I was in since Saturday was Stewart’s and in the past two weeks the only other two public places outside of the woods or my truck is North Greenbush Shop Rite ๐Ÿช and Stewart’s Gas. โ›ฝ

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 41 degrees at 6am. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 25th. South wind 5 to 9 mph. I closed the windows โฌœ but the heat remains off. In 2019, we had clear skies in the evening, which became partly cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 22 degrees. The record low of 11 occurred back in 1975.

Tonight will have a Waxing Crescent ๐ŸŒ’ Moon with 6% illuminated. At 8 PM, the moon was in the west (268ยฐ) at an altitude of 16ยฐ from the horizon, some 250,323 miles away from where you are looking up from the earth. ๐Ÿš€ At the state speed limit of 55 mph, you’ll make it there by October 2nd. Buckle up for safety! ๐Ÿ’บGoing to take a while to get there if you obey the dictims of the Albany. At least once your there, you’ll have a hell of a social distancing going on. But then again, your probably not going to get Coronavirus through your space suit. ๐Ÿ‘ฝThe moon will set in the west-northwest (283ยฐ) at 9:32 pm. The Pink ๐ŸŒธ Moon is on Tuesday, April 7. The darkest hour is at 1:02 am, followed by dawn at 6:20 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:48 am in the east (86ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:25 am with sun in the east (92ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 29 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 57 degrees at 4pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 12th. Northwest wind around 8 mph. Should be another real nice day. A year ago, we had sunny skies. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 78 was set in 1998. 6.7 inches of snow fell back in 1959.โ„

In four weeks on April 23 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (288ยฐ) at 7:46 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 54 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, warm, rain showers and temperatures between 75 and 50 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 62 and 40 degrees. The record high of 87 degrees was set back in 2007.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 8 weeks remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

I am looking forward to that holiday weekend, and hopefully by then the worse of Coronavirus will be done ๐Ÿ‘พand things will have a chance to return to the normal swatting at black flies. Yes, I really should plan on speeding more time in researching a screened in picnic table tent to make black fly season camping โ›บ a lot more fun.

March 25, 2020 Night

Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ˜ Calm wind. The snow is basically gone except from some sad snow men. โ˜ƒ ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing around 1 am. โ˜ƒ๏ธ

Wasn’t sure how cold โ„ it would be on my evening walk ๐Ÿšถ but it turned out to be a fairly reasonable night. Little more traffic tonight than recent nights – it’s been so quiet lately when I go for my evening walk. Maybe because it was a little later. Ran into some random person smoking pot on a dark part of the street but I social distance him so no real concerns there. ๐Ÿšฌ People get it, they appreciate it when you give them distance. ๐Ÿ…

Today went by quickly, it was a pretty quiet day at work. ๐Ÿ˜‚It does save a lot of time not commuting and I kind of like working out of my truck. ๐Ÿ’ป That said, conference calls and even Zoom Meetings aren’t like being in person, although I do like the mute ๐Ÿ”• button โšซand being able to flip to other browser tabs. Plus work done at home without social media distractions is much more productive. I’ve discovered how truly much more energy efficient the DC car charger for my laptop is compared to the AC charger plugged into my inverter. ๐Ÿ”Œ

Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ŸŒฅ, with a low of 28 degrees at 6am. One degree below normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 23rd. Light and variable wind. Not all that much longer before the average night is above freezing in Albany. Then I’ll definitely be able to have heat off. โ™จ In 2019, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 21 degrees. The record low of 2 occurred back in 1960.

The darkest hour is at 1:02 am, followed by dawn at 6:22 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:50 am in the east (87ยฐ) and last for 2 minutes and 54 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 45 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ŸŒ„ The golden hour ends at 7:27 am with sun in the east (93ยฐ). Tonight will have 11 hours and 32 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 54 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny ๐ŸŒž, with a high of 58 degrees at 4pm. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around April 14th. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Should be a really nice day. I won’t mind working down a Five Rivers in my truck tomorrow for sure. Beats working in the dungeon. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning, remaining cloudy in the afternoon. The high last year was 45 degrees. The record high of 74 was set in 1986. 6.1 inches of snow fell back in 1899.โ„

I ordered a new pair of boots ๐Ÿ‘ข because the ones I’m wear are showing holes through their bottoms. I found I can order my size online and get free shipping, so no digging through the store to find their not in stock. Still having trouble with the state tax department website. ๐ŸฌDidn’t get a chance to do any more research into screened in tents for camping during Black Fly Season or some of my longer trips for rainy days ๐ŸŽช but I should do that tomorrow.

I also got to think about where I want to go for my April road trip. โ›บ I am thinking Madison and Chenango Counties for good trout fishing ๐ŸŽฃ opportunities but the Adirondacks are still a possibility. ๐Ÿ—ป Depends on how much snow there is. That said, while the state forests camping areas are quite large compared to campgrounds, I kind of want to be as far away from others as possible in this era of social distancing.๐Ÿ‘พ Plastic gloves while pumping gas โ›ฝ, hand sanitizer and just staying as far away from others as possible, as it seems like the apex of the Coronavirus crisis in New York will be about the week I’m planning my trip.

Took another sleeping pill ๐Ÿ’Š so I sleep well because otherwise I wake up during the night and turn on the BBC or NPR Morning Edition ๐Ÿ“ป and the news ๐Ÿ“ฐ is so sad and worrying. ๐Ÿ˜ข Coronavirus is a disaster and it’s only going to get worse before it gets better. It’s a crazy wind driven wildfire that is out of control, going to jump every fire break we put up against it. ๐Ÿ”ฅ I am not convinced that social distancing is going to have a big impact – it feels good to spray the out of control fire with water ๐Ÿ’ฆ – but it’s not going to stop burning until Coronavirus naturally burns itself out. I bet Texas won’t get hit as hard as New York even though they’ve done far less. My science friend who is on the front lines says Coronavirus is blowing right towards the big nursing homes ๐Ÿ‘ด in New York City and while they are doing everything they can to stop the march ๐Ÿ‘พinto the facilities, it’s going to arrive shortly and it will lead to a shocking number of casualties. ๐ŸขIts endlessly sad and I think it’s very dishonest of the politicians to act like their is much we can do at this point. ๐ŸŽค

In four weeks on April 22 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (288ยฐ) at 7:45 pm,๐ŸŒ„ which is 31 minutes and 55 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly sunny, warm and temperatures between 74 and 51 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 61 and 40 degrees. The record high of 86 degrees was set back in 1985.

Looking ahead, April Fools Day ๐Ÿคก is in 1 weeks, Pink Moon ๐ŸŒ• is in 2 weeks, Tax Day ๐Ÿ’ฐ is in 3 weeks except its not due to Coronavirus, Earth Day ๐ŸŒŽ is in 4 weeks, Memorial Day ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ is in 2 months, Latest Sunset ๐ŸŒ† is in 13 weeks and Inauguration Day 2021 ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿป is in 43 weeks.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…Only 57 days remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
