April 9, 2020 10 PM Update

Good evening! Mostly clear and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. Breezy, ️20 mph breeze from the west 🌬 with gusts up to 33 mph 💨💨💨. The current wind chill is 32. That wind is making it feel really chilly and you could hear it roaring around. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Sunday around 5 am.

So as I noted earlier 📝, I finished up the mobile 📱 version of the blog and that should go live this weekend. I also walked 🚶 down to the park ⛲ after work and got some more podcasts. 🎧 Read 📖 some news, played on Facebook and Instagram.

Allergies haven’t been so bad today 👃, I think it may be caused by the pollen or something outdoors. I thought it was the mold in my apartment but it gets worse the more time I spend outside working. That said, Claradin D 💊 works well and if it’s nice out I’m going to work outdoors, case closed. Beats working in my dungeon office. 🏢

Tonight will be partly cloudy 🌃, with a low of 33 degrees at 5am. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. In 2019, we had cloudy skies. It got down to 32 degrees. The record low of 21 occurred back in 1974.

Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous 🌖 Moon with 94% illuminated. The darkest hour is at 12:57 am, followed by dawn at 5:55 am, and sun starting to rise at 6:24 am in the east-northeast (79°) and last for 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Sunrise is one minute and 41 seconds earlier than yesterday. 🌄 The golden hour ends at 7:01 am with sun in the east (85°). Tonight will have 10 hours and 49 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 49 seconds over last night.

Tomorrow will have a chance of rain and snow showers before 9am, then a chance of rain showers. Mostly cloudy 🌦, with a high of 49 degrees at 3pm. Seven degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 27th. Windy, with a northwest wind 24 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 50 degrees. The record high of 86 was set in 1922. 5.7 inches of snow fell back in 1961.❄

Looked at UV C Germicidal Lights after watching that Big Clive video. 📹 They mostly smell bad and cause skin cancer and blindness and unless you have a very powerful bulb 💡 not all that useful except up close. Interesting but dangerous technology. I thought 💭 about ordering the rechargeable one on AliExpress to kill mold in the kitchen and maybe bad smells in my truck or bathroom 🚽 but I doubt the rechargeable one would be strong 💪 enough to do much besides be a health hazard.

Finally my boots 👢 shipped today. My current ones have multiple holes in the sole. I just do a lot of walking around and they wear through after about six months. 🚶 And I tend to wear my casual boots everywhere.

I thought about camping ⛺ and fishing 🎣 during the long weekend but with the wins, clouds and cold weather I decided this weekend was best to just stay in town. That wind combined with the gray overcast skies ☁ is quite off putting to say the least – and spending all that money on food and gasoline. 💵

Next weekends forecast looks better but it could change but at any rate the weather is only improving as spring approaches. 🌸 It would be nice enough if it was warm enough when I camp to use the hammock and not need the crampons for hiking. I do worry about future 🔮 closures or road blocks 🚧 but I’m hopeful that the pandemic is winding down and while things might not be to normal by next weekend things will have further amped down a notch. 📉

In four weeks on May 7 the sun will be setting in the west-northwest (294°) at 8:02 pm,🌄 which is 31 minutes and 40 seconds later then tonight. In 2019 on that day, we had partly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 66 and 49 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 67 and 44 degrees. The record high of 92 degrees was set back in 1930.

Looking ahead, Flower Moon 🌕 is in 4 weeks.

🇺🇸🦅Only 6 weeks remain until the start of Memorial Day Weekend!🦅🇺🇸

I wonder if hospitals are seeing more patients suffering from arc blindness and severe skin burns from people using UV-C lamps to kill Coronavirus at home like this rechargeable one AliExpress.

While UV-C bulbs (florescent lamps without phosphor) are very effective at killing bacteria and viruses and are widely used in hospitals HVAC and sanitizers, exposure to the light causes human skin to burn within seconds and causes painful arc flash and temporary blindness if you look into them like looking into a welder flash.

Blog Update

I have made a dozen of changes to the blog to fix issues with the new theme. These will be pushed live the next time I get somewhere there is Wi-Fi internet.

  • Mobile version will become live
  • Fixed issues with the broken search bar
  • Fixed issues with the maps description text
  • Fixed various bugs in the style sheet
  • Other performance and speed issues

I would have pushed them alive immediately but I don’t have WI-FI at home and it’s not like the library is open and I could just walk down there.

Once I have the update done, I will post on Facebook and elsewhere that’s its officially the new version. The thing is a wish I could have avoided doing live testing in the wild all week but I couldn’t find every bug offline testing.
