Preserved Salt Box

While most the Village of Adirondack Buildings have long since collapsed and been forgotten, this one Salt Box -- maybe the old School House, was preserved.

May 25, 2018 Morning

Good morning! Memorial Day Weekend Starts this EveningΒ πŸ•. Four weeks to Average High is 80 πŸ–. Mostly sunny and 66 degrees in Delmar, NY. There is a west-southwest breeze at 9 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 51 degrees.

Today will be sunny 🌞, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. 13 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 54 at 6pm. West wind 9 to 16 mph. Warm but not too humid. Most people wish that had summer days this nice, but it’s not frequent that in summer the dew point is this low.Β  A year ago, we had light rain in the morning, which became light rain and mist by afternoon. The high last year was 62 degrees. The record high of 94 was set in 1981.

The sun will set at 8:21 pm with dusk around 8:54 pm, which is 55 seconds later than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At sunset, look for mostly clear skies and 77 degrees. The dew point will be 55 degrees. There will be a west breeze at 7 mph. Should be a great summer evneing, no matter what your plans are for the evening.Β Today will have 14 hours and 57 minutes of daytime, an increase of one minute and 37 seconds over yesterday.

I am all packed for camping and enjoying the beautiful weather. 😎 Heading out to Vermont later in the day. I was originally thinking that Campsite on Pumpkin Hollow RoadΒ πŸŽƒ so I could go fishing one of the days, but I’ve decided against that because I’m sure that site will be taken. Maybe I’ll make that trip later in the summer.

I plan to go up to Piseco-Powley Road (and maybe Moss Island/Mohawk River/Little Falls in a kayak) sometime in June and maybe also do a trip out to Brookfield that month. Maybe Schoharie County too — it’s kind of fun fishing at the Power Authority Reservoir. While I didn’t bring the kayak this time, I did bring my bathing suit so tomorrow if it remains nice, I may go swimming at Grout Pond Beach in Vermont. 🏊

Tonight will be mostly clear 🌞 , with a low of 63 degrees at 3am. 13 degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 58 at 6am. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Temperatures in the seventies well into the evening. Should be delightful, and the breeze should help keep the black flies in check. In 2017, we had light drizzle in the evening, which became light rain by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 53 degrees. The record low of 38 occurred back in 1972.

Looking ahead, there are 4 weeks until Average High is 80 πŸ– when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:12 pm. On that day in 2017, we had mostly cloudy skies and temperatures between 81 and 53 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 80 degrees. We hit a record high of 95 back in 1954.

If you are planning to go to Warrensburg Exit 23 on the Northway, I suggest you take NY 9N Exit 22 Hague to US 9 North to avoid being stuck in traffic on the Northway. Exit 23 Warrensburg often gets backed up by a mile or more during the holiday weekends.
