I got to get back in the habit in using reusable shopping bags once again. There was a time I always used them, then the ones I had kind of wore out or got dirty to the point where they couldn’t clean them well. At the same time, Shoprite did away with the discount for reusable bags, and Walmart never have one.
Moreover, in the summer months while camping, I like having a good supply of disposable shopping bags. I use them for carrying camping goods and for trash bags, because normally at camp I burn the burnable trash daily so I’m not carrying around trash that attracts animals. But that’s not an excuse in the winter, because I’m just ending up with a lot of waste, that while recycled, still wastes resources.

February’s Snow Moon is tonight. The Last Quarter Moon is on Saturday, February 18th with mostly cloudy then slight chance of snow skies expected. The Full “Worm” Moon is on Sunday, March 12th. The sun will rise at 6:57 am with the first light at 6:27 am, which is 1 minutes and 19 seconds earlier then yesterday. I really like those earlier sunrises especially when it’s not so cloudy out. Not sure what my plans are for tomorrow. I could go to the Adirondack Outdoorsman show in Johnstown but not if the roads are crappy or if the weather is cloudy and miserable. It’s too long of a drive to do it in bad not scenic weather in my opinion. It’s one thing to go to the Adirondacks for a weekend or even a long day trip but I’m not going to drive an hour each way just to see a small outdoors show when its too nasty to ski much less enjoy the scenery. I was hoping the weather would be nice and I could go cross country skiing at Rockwood State Forest after the outdoors expo.

Sunday’s snow storm is complicated but I’m leaning towards 6-7 inches of snow between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. It won’t be a real heavy snow but it will add up. A lot depends on the temperature and how much moisture pushes in.

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a Winter Storm Watch… which is in effect from Sunday morning through Monday evening.
* Locations…southern Adirondacks, Lake George-Saratoga region, Mohawk Valley, Capital Region, Schoharie Valley, Central Taconics, Berkshires and Southern Vermont.
* Hazard types…heavy snow.
* Accumulations…greater than 7 inches of snow is possible.
* Winds…wind gusts are expected to increase Sunday night through Monday that may result in blowing and drifting of snow.
