Sacandaga River Below Auger Falls

I had never been down in the gorge below Auger Falls, well at least from the East Side (bushwhack from Forks Mountain Trail).

I had walked along the Scanadaga River from the west side up Old Route 8A (now a snowmobile trail) but never hiked down from the east side all the way from the gorge. While the views are better from the west side, but from the east side (via Griffin) you almost never run into up there.

Lake George Building Style

The most common style of building in Lake George is the Old Style, however there is also a healthy mix of Contemporary Buildings and Ranch houses scattered in with the old.

Camping Opporunities Along East Branch Sacanadaga River

While noisy at times, camping along the East Branch of Sacandaga River is my choice during the winter months and the shoulder season due to the fact that NY 8 is plowed year round, and if the snow isn't too deep, you can dig out a place to park.
