Feral Days 🐈

It’s been eight days since I first started out on my summer vacation last Wednesday, August 20th. Five more days to go, but I fully recongize Labor Day and September will be here before it seems like it should be.

Some vacation days were busy and long but many days I’ve tried to take it slow wandering the woods, reading in the hammock, fishing, doing a cooking and pooping in the bucket. With the acres of pasture and forest I dream of my own land, some day ab off grid homestead without the beloved suburban vinyl siding and asphalt shingles. Regular fires and hours spent outdoors.

Dragging the Line

“My dog Sam eats purple flowers” is a lyric from the 1971 Tommy James song “Draggin’ the Line”. It was a somewhat random lyric added by the songwriter to fit the music’s rhythm, and Tommy James had a white cat named Sam, not a dog. The lyric was not meant to be taken literally but serves as a part of the song’s overall message about appreciating life and finding peace.
