Stop a Criminal. Record Everything.

People often consider getting a concealed carry permit and carrying a firearm for personal protection. But there are many restrictions on that in many states. One thing people don’t often consider for personal protection is carrying a concealed or largely hidden audio and/or video recording device.

Now an audio or video recording device won’t defend yourself against an attacker but it can help keep you safe and get criminals and other lawbreakers off the street. It can however protect your own rights, help track down criminals, and keep people honest.Β While it’s great that police are wearing cameras to protect their rights, so should private citizens wear recording devices to ensure police and other individuals are treating them fairly.

Nowadays with cheap memory cards, and tiny electronics, it’sΒ more and more possible to record all of your everyday interactions.Β Most are pretty boring for sure. But sometimes, an audio and/or video recording can literally save your life or take a crook off the streets. Covertly recording a police officer at a traffic stop in your defense — or for purposes of you seeking justice through a trial jury — could very much protect your rights.

There really isn’t any reason in our modern era, why ordinary people shouldn’t be “wearing wires” in their day-to-day life. Granted, hooking up wiring and charging devices can be a pain —Β but the recording devices are so small and covert todayΒ — that recording more rather then less can be as life saving choice.

Vietnam War

Did you know the Vietnam War ended over 40 years ago?Β People shouldn’t be bitter about something that happened a generation ago, nor should an election in 2016 be a referendum about what happened in the early seventies.

Good evening! On the first night of more darkness then light, it’s a clear but cool evening. Mostly clear and 47 degrees in North Syracuse. Calm wind.

It was a nice day at Green Lakes State Park. Not too cool but also not super hot. Kind of pretty but so far the leaves haven’t changed yet much. Saw a little red on one or two of the trees. Drove out past Cicero Swamp today but as far as I know there isn’t a lot of hiking opportunities there due to being a swamp. Tomorrow, probably will be back to walking along Onondaga Lake before work. I got to upload those photos when I get a chance.

September 17, 2016 10 PM Update

Good evening! Rain and 73 degrees in North Syracuse. Rain is good. My truck is covered in dust and mud, and we are in a drought. There is a south breeze at 11 mph. The dew point is 64 degrees. The skies will clear Monday around 10 am. The rain held off for a while except for a brief shower but it was quite dreary out for most of the afternoon.

While the morning was quite nice, the afternoon was so humid and damp that you never knew when the next downpour would occur. Thought about visiting the Syracuse Gun Show but that didn’t happen because the admission price was $7 and it was the other side of town at the fairgrounds. I still kind of want to buy the 30-06, I’ve been thinking about getting, and I’m thinking I could get a better quality deer rifle for less money used. But I was lazy. Maybe I should have just gotten that Remington 783 I looked at in August on sale but was sacred off by some of the reviews. Otherwise, generally a pretty quite Saturday, spent some time tweaking some code on the blog. Hoping to do some hiking and fishing tomorrow but only if the weather is decent.

Also been thinking about my next big road trip to West Virginia and Virginia. This will be later in the year than last one, mostly due to my schedule. But still the Blue Ridge Parkway will be beautiful. Or maybe I’ll instead focus on Western New York and Pennsylvania. I guess it depends on my mood.

Tonight will have showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 1am. Warm and rainy night  with a low of 67 degrees at 6am. Maximum dew point of 66 at 2am. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tomorrow will have showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high of 79 degrees at 2pm. Maximum dew point of 67 at 9am. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

The sun will rise at 6:47 am with the first light at 6:19 am, which is 1 minutes and 6 seconds later then yesterday.

Looking ahead, First Day with Average High Below 70 is in 1 week, October 1st is in 2 weeks, Make a Difference Day is in 5 weeks and New Years Eve is in 15 weeks.
