New York State

New York is a state in the Northeastern region of the United States. New York is the 27th-most extensive, the 3rd-most populous, and the 7th-most densely populated of the 50 United States. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south, and by Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border with Rhode Island east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Ontario to the west and north, and Quebec to the north. The state of New York is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City.

Cedar Lakes is the headwaters of Cedar River and is a reservior created by a long abandoned impoundment. It is located within the West Canada Lake Wildernessrea.

Wolf Pond Trail

The Wolf Pond extends 2.3 miles feet from the trailhead to the outlet of Wolf Pond on the southern shore. This new trail is gently rolling and easy to navigate trail. A new lean-to is located up a short spur trail on the
southwestern shore of the pond. Wolf Pond provides scenic views of the High Peaks and surrounding mountains, as well as excellent fishing opportunities. The 59-acre pond is home to native strain stocked brook trout.

Before Interstate 787 and the filling in of the Albany Yacht Club, much of Corning Preserve was the former railyards along the river.
