John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.
Rain today then smooth sailing for the coming week β΅
NOAA isn’t quite as optimistic as I am for a big warm up next week but certainly it will be seasonable or maybe even a bit warm for that time of year.

Evenings are getting longer although it seems like lately I’ve either been working late or it’s cloudy and rainy so I’ve not been able to take advantage.
A brief break in the rain, cloudy and 50 degrees in Delmar, NY. βοΈ There is a south-southeast breeze at 11 mph. π. The skies will clear tomorrow around goingnoontime.
Out for my morning walk πΆ earlier than normal as I was awake and I wanted to get out before the next round of showers. β That said I’m hoping the rain holds off until after nine 9β£ o’clock as I left my umbrella in the office. I think I have another one at home but it’s not my good umbrella.
Yesterday I got home around 6 pm π€ though the bus was running a bit late π due to the abortion protests downtown. I don’t see why it’s such an issue or controversy nowadays when there is a safe and relatively inexpensive abortion pill π you can get in the mail. Accidents happen and $90 fixes aren’t a bad thing. Less with insurance.
Its been kind of a crazy π€ͺ work with work, there is just a lot going on. Dad was in the hospital π₯ for a few days, I was going to visit him yesterday but he got released. π² Been working on a map πΊ for the Save the Pine Bush booth at the Tulip festival π·. Still sort of unpacking at least mentally from the weekend that was in the Adirondacks.
While I probably should follow politics closer then I do, I find J.D. Vance’s run for US Senate to be fascinating. I really liked his book, Hillbilly Elegy. He’s somebody who knows the mud and muck of life, not some privileged suburbanite brat who has had everything handed to them on a silver plater.
We might be of opposite political parties and largely differentiating ideology, I totally get where he is coming from and I think he would be good representative for his community.
I am not seeing any more freezing weather though also not a lot of sun these next few days. I am just surprised how late spring is this year in the city, though things are getting greener out my office window and here in town. While we only look out seven days below, the long range says I might push into the eighties next week, the first real touch of spring. π·

Cloudy and 53 degrees in Delmar, NY. β Calm wind. The dew point is 47 degrees. Clouds today, rain tomorrow. The skies will clear Thursday around 1 am.
Kind of cloudy and damp morning. βοΈ No rain like yesterday but hardly a banner day. I guess enjoy the cool while it lasts. I’m going to need to put away may heated blanket and heater soon and get out my fans. I’m surprised my neighbor doesn’t yet have his window air conditioning unit. I may be stubborn but I like the fresh air and when it’s really hot getting out of town.
They say this isn’t going to be as hot of a summer as the last few π but I have my doubts, for one the climate normals are hotter then in years past. Plus I work downtown five days a week again π’ and so much of the oppressive heat is just when you step outside the office building and are waiting for the bus π at five o’clock in the evening.
Yesterday was another real busy day at work πΌ got home around 8, too late for a walk πΆ so skipped it, had dinner and went to bed π. Not that last night would have been good for a walk, it was raining on and off. The one good thing is that session will likely be done in a month, though I expect a busy summer with elections, especially with the craziness of the redistricting and primaries.
The blister I got on my finger π and thumb π continue to heal but also grow. So far I’ve managed not to pop it but it’s annoying when I type. Grabbed a hot can top I shouldn’t have tried to grab out of the fire on fire. I know, ouch. Be careful with fire bro.
After a pretty cold start to the spring, it looks like warmer weather will likely build in for mid-May. Tuesday, May 10th the average temperature for Albany is 70, and it might be warmer then.
The past few days have been very dry, so maybe this is good thing from the fire weather perspective, though in generally it’s not been a very dry spring. Things are greening up a lot in the Albany area. Thursday and Sunday look like the best days of week so far.
