John Boyd Thacher State Park, is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. Even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the Hudson-Mohawk Valleys and the Adirondack and Green Mountains. The park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. Interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous Indian Ladder Trail. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

I was up bright 🔆 and early this morning but things got dragged out due to a bunch of fumbles this morning. 🌅 Stupid things, misplaced my wallet and spilled my coffee ☕ but I made it to the express bus. 🚍
I scheduled my truck to get serviced, 👨🔧 to have them look at the wheel that is clicking and making some squeaking noise. I think it’s a bad wheel bearing, but unfortunately I can’t get it into the shop until a week from Friday. So I probably won’t have it next weekend, knowing how these things go. 😬 I have a dentist appointment that morning, so I will drop off the truck, then get my teeth cleaned. 🪥
I will have to see if the first week of August I can take off for vacation. 😎 I probably should have dealt with it earlier on, but so be it. Maybe I won’t do a week vacation until the fall this year. With gas prices, it might just make more sense to do a few more long weekends through the fall, when prices fall. ⛽ I am such a serial procrastinator.

We could most certainly use some rain. Not that much based on forecast though, although you never know with these thunderstorms. I do remember that thunderstorm that hit two weeks after I left the Finger Lakes when they got a foot of rain in an hour. But it doesn’t seem like that much rain. Hot and humid today, not great sleeping weather.
Looks like it will be humid through Thursday, then Friday and Saturday should be real nice. I am thinking about taking the Nature Bus and hiking in Thacher Park Saturday, as it is always a fun adventure, and it good to save some money after burning all that expensive gas going up north during the past weekend. Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Back to work after my long weekend. 🏢
Back to work after a long weekend up north. Unpacked my camping gear and coolers this morning after staying over night at my parents house.
Mostly cloudy, humid and 74 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☔ There is a south breeze at 14 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 60 degrees. The skies will clear around 7 pm.
Could be a stormy day today ⛈ so I guess it best to retreat to my climate controlled office. If anything, I would have been better off had I taken Friday off. But things are remarkably busy at work these days although I’ve busy closing out as much as I can out of the production book 📙. I already have work emails 📧 to address when I get into the office 🏢.
It was a nice weekend up north for the most part. 🏖 ⛺ Spent it up number 5 on Powley Road, with a lot of time reading 📖 and floating and swimming at the Potholers ⭕, listening to hours and hours of podcasts. Did some walking 🚶along Powley Road and at least to start out the weekend 🍻 some drinking. That said, alcohol isn’t nearly as much fun pushing forty as it was in my younger years. I probably should have done more to try to get my steps in during the weekend, and maybe brought my kayak 🛶 but I had fun floating on the tube, well until it sprung a leak after catching a tree branch. It’s a small leak, although I will need to run to store and get some rubber cement to fix it.
Friday night I got up north remarkably early, 🕓 as traffic heading out of the city was very light and I caught the 12 bus up to my truck fairly quickly. I was pretty fried after the week that was 😫 so I probably wasn’t particularly light on the accelerator on NY 29 or Emmonsburg Road, and got to campsite 5 fairly early. Disappointed but not surprised I didn’t get House Pond, but I did get set up early. And started drinking. And left the window open in my truck overnight with the coolers. 🐻 Fortunately, no bears decided to climb into the cab of my truck and trash the inside of my truck.
Saturday I spent a lot of the day reading, 📖 then floating above the potholers. Sunday was much the same although I also did a nice walk 🚶♀️ along Piseco-Powley Road to that other swimming hole I “discovered’ three weeks ago. 🏊♀️ Monday I drove straight out to my parents house 🏘 via the farm country of NY 10 Canajoharie, 🚜 then over NY 162 🌽 down to NY 30A to NY 443. 🍓 Nice country, although on NY 443 I got stuck behind the slowest moving car ever, and there ain’t a lot of places to pass along there.
The end of next week might be the hottest part of the week though it’s hard to know this far out. But definitely should be a great week for summer vacation 🏊♂️.

Seemsmore humid this morning than I expected 😰 but maybe it’s just I’m sweating on my walk due to the strong sun light this morning under the deep blue skies. It’s been such an unusually cool summer.
The past few days work has been super busy 💼, I ended taking some home and down to the library and worked until closing time. I could have used the Hotspot on my but I don’t like having to watch the meter. 🖥 Plus it’s extra steps. I work hard but I make good money 💵 and I’m saving money and investing towards a better tomorrow.
