What can I say, eighteen floors is a lot to walk up to 🚢

Truth is I’m not that scared to ride the sketchy elevators but doing the 18 flights in the morning and lunch time is excellent cardio on top of the 7 Β½ miles in trying to walk every day. I didn’t even know the stairs were an option but ID badge works with them so I guess I’m an authorized employee to use them.

Good morning! What day is it? Hump Day, of course. Cloudy and 64 degrees in Delmar, NY. ☁ There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 64 degrees. The skies will clear around 4 pm. Or will they? It depends on thunderstorms and wildfire smoke. Currently the AQI is a healthy 22.

I’ve decided to wear my glasses πŸ‘“ during the morning walk 🚢 to give my eyes πŸ‘€ a break and save time in the morning. Did 8 Β½ miles yesterday plus the stairs as I went for a walk in the Pine Bush πŸ¦‹ after the meeting of the Guilderland IDA where they are giving an even bigger tax break to Costco.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy 🌧, with a high of 76 degrees at 5pm. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. A year ago, we had cloudy skies. The high last year was 79 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1901.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.7Β° from the due south horizon (-0.2Β° vs. 6/21). The golden hour πŸ… starts at 7:55 pm with the sun in the west-northwest (296Β°). πŸ“Έ The sunset is in the west-northwest (304Β°) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 8:38 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 28 seconds with dusk around 9:12 pm, which is earlier than yesterday. πŸŒ‡ At dusk you’ll see the Waxing Gibbous πŸŒ” Moon in the south (185Β°) at an altitude of 31Β° from the horizon, 240,019 miles away. πŸš€ The best time to look at the stars is after 9:58 pm. At sunset, look for rain 🌧 and thunderstorms 🌩 and temperatures around 71 degrees. The dew point will be 62 degrees. There will be a west-northwest breeze at 8 mph. On this day in 1896, An explosion in the Newton Coal Company’s Twin Shaft Mine in Pittston, Pennsylvania results in a massive cave-in that kills 58 miners. Also in 1969, Stonewall riots begin in New York City, marking the start of the Gay Rights Movement. Lots of explosive things hpapening on this day in history.

Not a particularly nice weekend on tap. 😞 Saturday, showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 67 at 12pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I’ve come to the realization that Independence Day Weekend πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ doesn’t look like a winner so probably best to stay close to home. 🏑 Saves money, avoids the crowds. But maybe the following weekend will be better, it looks like it’s getting hotter and hopefully less rainy come those days. I wouldn’t mind the following week to go up to the Potholers. Maybe this weekend I can commit to buying a bicycle 🚲, I might end up getting a new one if I get tired of waiting for the perfect πŸ‘Œ used one to show up. I get paid next week and I expect that I would get a lot of use out of it. Thinking the last week of July for summer vacation in the Finger Lakes National Forest. πŸ–

Looking ahead, next Wednesday is Hottest Time of the Year πŸ˜… when the sun will be setting at 8:37 pm with dusk at 9:10 pm. Then it rained and rained some more β›ˆοΈ

It’s been a long time since we had a good rainy evening. But it really poured both waiting for the bus and then all evening when I got home. Helped make time to do some reading, put away my winter clothes, heater and get out the big fan – I’ll need it next week it seems.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Clouds and 66 degrees in Delmar. ☁ There is a south breeze at 8 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 65 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 am.

It seems like lately getting out and walking 🚢 at 6:15 has become closer to 6:30 but I guess getting ready for work is quicker these days being it’s casual summer dress and there aren’t the smoldering cars πŸš™ around the High School 🏫 now that it’s summer. It does make time tight in the morning for walking down to the express bus at the Park and Ride but so be it. I can always catch it closer to home.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10am. Mostly cloudy β›… , with a high of 80 degrees at 4pm. Two degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 19th. Maximum dew point of 70 at 12pm. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. The high last year was 80 degrees. Same as this year. The record high of 97 was set in 1941.

If I have time today πŸ•’ I think I want eggs πŸ₯š though I could switch to oatmeal πŸ₯£ to speed up things with maybe a hard boiled egg for protein. I’m finding just a little extra protein can keep you feeling full all day long. πŸ˜‹

Yesterday, I almost got trapped on the elevator with the head of the Assembly Republicans 🀯 which probably wouldn’t be fun. I work on the 18th floor so it’s somewhat unavoidable to ride the elevators but I realized my ID card πŸ’³ works with the stairs so I’m going to try to use the stairs more, especially going down though yesterday I did both down and up two times. It’s good cardio especially going up. 🦡5 ½ miles walked yesterday, I didn’t do an evening walk 🚢 due to the heavy rain.

Tonight will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy , with a low of 65 degrees at 5am. Four degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 68 at 6pm. South wind 7 to 9 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became cloudy by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 55 degrees. The record low of 43 occurred back in 1970.

On this day in 1985, U.S. Route 66 is officially removed from the United States Highway System. πŸš— 🎸 🎢 You could no longer get you’re kicks on Route 66 because everybody was taking I-40 and I-44 through the heartland of America. I’m sure had nostalgia kicked in during the 1980s it would have been saved, as like it has in parts as Historic US 66.

Stormy with showers this Independence Weekend. β›ˆ Saturday, showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 65 at 11am. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Maximum dew point of 68 at 1pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I have decided that at least for Friday night into Saturday I am going to stay home 🏑 and then look at bicycles on Saturday. 🚲 Then I might head out camping for three nights — maybe hammock camping though I might try to get the campsite at Betty Brook if it’s available. Then spend Sunday through Tuesday at least a few of the days at Mine Kill State Park to do lots of swimming and enjoying the sun. 🏊‍♀️  πŸ•

Looking ahead, next Tuesday is Independence Day πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ when the sun will be setting at 8:38 pm with dusk at 9:11 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 84 and 54 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 83 degrees. We hit a record high of 104 back in 1911.

Island on the Lake

Monday, Monday

Good morning! Monday’s come back around again. So it has. Mostly cloudy with haze and 65 degrees in Delmar, NY. β›… There is a south-southeast breeze at 6 mph. πŸƒ. The dew point is 65 degrees. The air quality index is a healthy 33. The muggy weather ends Thursday around 2 am. πŸ˜“

I’m out walking 🚢 though not as early as I would like as I have a bad case of the Monday’s plus there isn’t the smoldering cars around the High School 🚸 and I don’t have to iron my clothes before work. Decided to give my eyes πŸ‘€ a break for now and wear glasses πŸ‘“ for my morning walk 🚢 Plus I find the humidity to be kind of a demotivator to getting moving plus the eye issues I had over the weekend.

I started out this morning with a hard-boiled egg πŸ₯š to get some protein before the morning walk. πŸƒ I am been having too much sugar lately, and I besides boosting the fiber in my diet I am coming around the way of the keto folks on having more protein and fiber from eggs and other lower-calorie sources like certain beans and meats. Then for breakfast, I am going to pulverize some white beans and mix them in the cream of wheat with strawberries and blueberries. 🍡 While I don’t like overusing my food chopper, as I think food should be chewed not drunk, it does work good for hiding things like beans in your breakfast.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9am. Mostly cloudy 🌩, with a high of 81 degrees at 2pm. One degrees below normal, which is similar to a typical day around June 23rd. Maximum dew point of 71 at 12pm. South wind 6 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. It was somewhat humid. The high last year was 93 degrees. The record high of 99 was set in 1952.

We are stuck in that rather hot, humid unstable weather pattern β›ˆοΈ that is common this time of year. Could get soaked any minute type deal. Sucks for people that have this week off from work – used to be my usual choice though not in recent years as I like to break my summer up more. πŸ˜… Won’t make the evening walk fun but if it’s not raining, I might go down to the park and read for a while then do some steps as darkness approaches and it’s not as hot. πŸ“š As  At least the air quality is relatively good today, though we need to watch how much the Canadian wildfire smoke pushes in later in the day.

Solar noon 🌞 is at 12:59 pm with sun having an altitude of 70.7° from the due south horizon (-0.1° vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 2.1 foot shadow today at noon time. On this day in 1963, U.S. President John F. Kennedy gave his “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech, underlining the support of the United States for democratic West Germany shortly after Soviet-supported East Germany erected the Berlin Wall. 🍩 Also, The Universal Product Code is scanned for the first time in 1974 to sell a package of Wrigley’s chewing gum at the Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio.πŸ›’

Cloudy and rain showers for Independence Day Weekend πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Saturday, a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Maximum dew point of 66 at 12pm. Sunday, showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Maximum dew point of 67 at 12pm. Typical average high for the weekend is 83 degrees.

I’d like to get out of town this weekend 🚲 but finding a bicycle is a higher priority and it depends on the weather. I might look at bicycles at a few places on Saturday then camp β›Ί maybe in Schoharie and do the Mine Kill Pool 🏊‍♂️ maybe hammock camping. Depends on whether or not I get Monday off as a holiday. Actually I’m thinking the following weekend might be quieter and better for some lazy floating in the Adirondacks along Piseco-Powley Road. A lot depends on the weather. I might due Betty Brook but I worry I can get that campsite, though the little one is rarely taken as most people either go for the big lower site or the field site. Not sure. If it looks wet and I have a bike to ride, I might stay close to home and see what I can explore on the bicycle.

Four eyes πŸ‘€ is better than two

Waking up this morning I got most of not all the vision back in my right eye but it’s still a bit sore so I’m wearing glasses, which I hate as they cause eye strain as I’m not used to them. But it was a bit scary loosing vision in my eye.

Good morning! Happy Sunday. Partly cloudy and 66 degrees in Delmar, NY. β›… Calm wind. The dew point is 64 degrees. The skies will clear around 11 am.

I am moving kind of slowly this morning, as I really don’t like wearing glasses. πŸ‘“ I find it hard to focus out of them but I also want to give my eyes as much of a time to heal as possible. This morning though I am seeing a lot better then I was last night. I ended up putting my glasses on at 5:30 PM when I got home last night, cooked dinner — a bunch of chicken and hard-boiled eggs for the rest of the week — and then went to bed. πŸ›Œ It’s good I caught up on a lot of sleep last night, and my eye feels better but for a while it was super red and sore.

Today will have a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny 🌧, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. Three degrees above normal. Maximum dew point of 69 at 12pm. Muggy! Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning. The high last year was 91 degrees. The record high of 95 was set in 1898.

It looks like this afternoon will be rather stormy β›ˆ so I want to get my steps in early so I’m planning to walk 🚢 out to Five Rivers Environmental Education Center this morning. Then head out to the folks house for Sunday dinner. 😰 Going to be a muggy day so I want to get a fairly early start. πŸ‘“ I’m not sure if I want to wear glasses all day or not though I admit it probably would be easier on my eyes πŸ‘€. I do want to get to bed relatively early πŸ› as sleep is so important for good health.
