Hamilton County

Hamilton County is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. Its county seat is Lake Pleasant. It is one of only two counties that lie entirely within the Adirondack Park (Essex is the other). As of the 2010 census, the population was 4,836, making it the least populous county in New York. It is also the most sparsely populated county in the eastern half of the United States, with a population density of just over three people per square mile.

Hamilton County is in the north central part of the state, northwest of Albany. It lies entirely within Adirondack Park and consists mostly of publicly owned parkland. As the tourist folk will tell you, there is no permanent traffic light in the county.

Silver Run

This is the Silver Run (creek), along Campsite 2. It's nice that there is a water source so close to the campsite.

Camping at Campsite 57

When I went up to Moose River Plains, on Friday morning, I sought a site up in Sandy Plains, far off the road so I could have one with lots of peace and quiet.

Total Privacy

The site I found for camping offered total privacy. I was far off the road, I could change without hiding in the truck, take a shower, buck naked. This made me happy. Being nude is fun.

Firepit and Table

This is the fire pit, camping gear box, water bottles, picnic table, and most importantly, the cooler filled with ice and beer.

RV at Cedar River Flow Campsite 8

This is the serious threat to the environment the crazy environmentalists are talking about as being such a threat to the park. I don't understand why this camping area must be closed -- many people enjoy kayaking and exploring this area, including myself.
