Grafton Lakes State Park

Grafton Lakes State Park is a 2,545-acre state park located in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The park is in the central part of the Town of Grafton and north of the hamlet of Grafton on NY Route 2, northeast of Albany. The park contains the Shaver Pond Nature Center.

Almost Made Me Think Of November

Hiking back on this part of the trail, the leaves were largely gone and the woods had a strongly November feel to them. I do like season of November, but it seems like summer has so quickly faded in the rear view mirror.

At the end of my hike on Saturday, I walked down to Long Pond down to the boaat launch on the west end of the lake. It was close to sunset, and while the leaves were mostly gone around the lake, it was still a beautiful ending to a nice day.

Bennington View

The reds were quite strong looking east to Bennington. For a while taking in the view, and seeing Stratton Mountain in the distance, I was kicking myself for not bringing my camping gear. But I am content with just enjoying the view, and heading home. I can always go back to Vermont later in November.

Catskills In The Distance

Looking south west from the firetower, you could see the Catskill Mountains sillouted with the setting sun and clouds pushing in front of the rain was to come sunday morning.

Always Fades So Fast

With the afternoon sun, and the clouds pushing in, you could see the parts of the forest that still had brilliant color offset by the areas that are fading away to the grays of winter.
