Good morning! Happy Valentines Day. โฅ Finally warm and bright enough to walk at 6:15. I think it’s the first time in months. But the days are getting longer. It’s a nice dawn, with a declining half ๐ moon above. Not sure if it will be the best sunrise ever though due to the clouds in the east.
Mostly cloudy and 37 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ Breezy, ๏ธ18 mph breeze from the northwest ๐ฌ with gusts up to 28 mph ๐จ๐จ๐จ. But it’s a fairly warm breeze by February standards. Temperatures will drop below freezing at Friday around 3 pm. โ๏ธ
It’s nice to get out early, it tends to better equalize the time in the morning ๐ฅ to have breakfast and get my clothes ironed before work and shower ๐ฟ. Having a single pool of time โ just means if one step runs longer I don’t fall behind on my SC especially as the express leaves about 15 minutes before the local.
Today will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ, with a high of 47 degrees at 2pm. 11 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 20th. Northwest wind 13 to 18 mph decreasing to 7 to 12 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with a few breaks of sun the afternoon. The high last year was 28 degrees. The record high of 63 was set in 1946. 23.5 inches of snow fell back in 1914.โ
Going to be a nice day, something like the first day of calendar spring. ๐ท But then again that’s only a month away and it’s been quite mild. Too much sunlight in the morning means I have to draw the shades but later in the afternoon the sun is nice. Not sure if I’ll get out at five to take the express home but so be it.
Solar noon ๐ is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 34.3ยฐ from the due south horizon (-36.5ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 8.8 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐ starts at 4:46 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (246ยฐ). ๐ธ
The sunset is in the west-southwest (253ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:26 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 2 seconds with dusk around 5:54 pm, which is one minute and 18 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:28 pm. At sunset, look for clear skies ๐ and temperatures around 43 degrees. There will be a northwest breeze at 6 mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 37 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 41 seconds over today..
Today is pay day which is nice ๐ต as I think my credit card bill is due soon ๐ณ and it’s been higher with inflation and the many trips that I made this year. Probably also need to start saving for my tax bill and car insurance ๐ which will be another chunk of change. But it looks like until Friday my heat will be off which is good.
Tonight will have increasing clouds โ, with a low of 32 degrees at 11pm. 14 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 2nd. Light and variable wind becoming south 6 to 11 mph after midnight. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became light snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 17 degrees. The record low of -22 occurred back in 1943.
Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐ Saturday, sunny, with a high near 38. Sunday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Typical average high for the weekend is 37 degrees.
Fairly mild but maybe cloudy โ for the second half of the weekend. I guess it would be kind of nice to get out of town this weekend. โบ There isn’t a lot of snow outside of the Adirondacks so trails might be muddy especially after Thursdays rain.
As previously noted, there are 2 weeks until Average High is 40 โ๏ธ when the sun will be setting at 5:44 pm with dusk at 6:11 pm. On that day in 2022, we had mostly cloudy, rain showers and temperatures between 41 and 26 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 40 degrees. We hit a record high of 63 back in 1903.
Good morning! Cloudy and a mild 44 degrees in Delmar, NY. โ There is a southwest breeze at 7 mph. ๐ with gusts up to 21 mph ๐จ๐จ๐จ. Temperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 2 am. โ๏ธ
Today is Clean Your Computer ๐ฅ Day, which is a good thing to do. I end up with a shit ton of files ๐ in my downloads folder as I use my laptop for work and play and I often download files from email to edit and review and then they get left in the folder, often poorly labeled. ๐
I have to say I’m well over dressed for the morning walk ๐ถ. I should have done just the vest. Really feels like more of a rainy โ April day. Maybe a bit more of a dose of reality come Saturday but not really. May be one of the longest stretches of 40 degrees weather in February should it hit 40 on Saturday. Ton of dog ๐ถ walkers out this morning. Hey, I live in yuppieville.
Today will have a slight chance of showers before 9am. Partly sunny ๐, with a high of 50 degrees at 11am. 15 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 27th. But what is normal these days? Windy, with a west wind 6 to 16 mph increasing to 16 to 26 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 25 degrees. The record high of 53 was set in 1955. 4.0 inches of snow fell back in 1892.โ
Iam excited about the Voorheesville bus ๐ passing my house again, especially the 8:26 run downtown. While I normally take the express from the Park and Ride ๐I don’t in bad weather or session days when I have to dress up for work. But now I don’t have that excuse again. I’d much rather take the express. Truth is on nice days, โ I can still walk down to the Park and Ride or stop and catch the bus at any of the designated locations along the way if I’m running late. ๐
Solar noon ๐ is at 12:11 pm with sun having an altitude of 33ยฐ from the due south horizon (-37.8ยฐ vs. 6/21). A six foot person will cast a 9.2 foot shadow today compared to 2.2 feet on the first day of summer. The golden hour ๐ starts at 4:40 pm with the sun in the west-southwest (244ยฐ). ๐ธ
The sunset is in the west-southwest (251ยฐ) with the sun dropping below the horizon at 5:21 pm after setting for 3 minutes and 4 seconds with dusk around 5:49 pm, which is one minute and 19 seconds later than yesterday. ๐ The best time to look at the stars is after 6:23 pm. At sunset, look for partly cloudy skies ๐ and temperatures around 44 degrees. Breezy, 24 mph breeze โ from the west with gusts up to 45mph. Tomorrow will have 10 hours and 27 minutes of daytime, an increase of 2 minutes and 35 seconds over today.
Come Monday I’m thinking about walking before breakfast ๐ as that gives me a little bit more flexibility with my schedule and I like walking earlier when there is less traffic. Might be a bit dark but sun is rising earlier and earlier.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy ๐ฅ, with a low of 26 degrees at 6am. Nine degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 15th. Breezy, with a west wind around 22 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 12 degrees. The record low of -18 occurred back in 1962.
Same old today a work today ๐ข then get home. I might go to the library tonight ๐, I’m undecided. I was thinking it’s been a while since I have hiked down to Norman’s Kill Gorge so I could do that if I did it early enough before the yuppies take over the rail trail. It would be more protected if it’s really windy in the morning. Tomorrow is a breakfast reheat day so I could be out by 6:30.
Tomorrow will be sunny ๐, with a high of 37 degrees at 2pm. Two degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 18th. Breezy, with a northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 9 to 14 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. A year ago, we had cloudy skies in the morning with more sun in the afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 59 was set in 1981. 9.6 inches of snow fell back in 1933.โ
Looking ahead to Sunday, mostly sunny, with a high near 45. South wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees.

On that day in 2022, we had partly sunny, snow showers and temperatures between 24 and 13 degrees. Typically, the high temperature is 36 degrees. We hit a record high of 60 back in 1981.
Good evening! Mostly clear and 35 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ There is a north-northwest breeze at 6 mph. ๐. ๏ธTemperatures will drop below freezing at around 10 pm. โ๏ธ Everything is dry so that doesn’t matter but the air feels chilly already.
Halfway or technically 3/5th the way through the work week. ๐ข Final session day of the week so it’s back to the express bus ๐ tomorrow. Ag Tiktok keeps me entertained on the local, especially for the evening commute which always seems long but not flipping through videos involving dirt, diesel and cattle. It’s remarkable how fast time goes past when doing that.
Tonight will have increasing clouds โ, with a low of 26 degrees at 6am. 10 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around March 15th. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became snow by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 8 degrees. The record low of -20 occurred back in 1934.
It’s not a bad evening for the evening walk ๐ถ but a bit cool and dark without the moonlight this evening. Maybe if I walked later. Cloudy nights are often brighter with light pollution from the city. ๐
Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ Moon with 90% illuminated. The moon will rise at 8:15 pm. The darkest hour is at 12:10 am, followed by dawn at 6:33 am, and sun starting to rise at 7:03 am in the east-southeast (110ยฐ) and last for 3 minutes and 6 seconds.
Tonight I baked up potatoes ๐ฅ that I got at the farmers market, topped with onions from the farmers market I got two weeks ago and some cheese ๐ง. Made a full pan up and refrigerated the rest for future use. Pretty good.
Sunrise is one minute and 14 seconds earlier than yesterday. ๐ The golden hour ends at 7:43 am with sun in the east-southeast (117ยฐ).Tonight will have 13 hours and 39 minutes of darkness, a decrease of 2 minutes and 34 seconds over last night.
Tomorrow will have a slight chance of rain and snow before 10am, then rain. ๐ง High of 40 degrees at 4pm. Six degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 3rd. Light south wind increasing to 11 to 16 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected. A year ago, we had mostly sunny skies. The high last year was 24 degrees. The record high of 57 was set in 1925. 13.7 inches of snow fell back in 1906.โ
With the rain โ coming, I’ll have to try and get my steps done early tomorrow. ๐ฃ I guess whatever. It’s no going to sunny every day โ though I enjoyed the sun in my office especially in the afternoon. Been a very gray winter.
In four weeks on March 8 the sun will be setting in the west (264ยฐ) at 5:54 pm,๐ which is 35 minutes and 18 seconds later then tonight. In 2021 on that day, we had mostly sunny and temperatures between 36 and 10 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 42 and 24 degrees. The record high of 68 degrees was set back in 2012.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to go for the evening walk ๐ถ but I wanted to get my steps in and keep up my record of doing 10,000 steps every day. There is some sleet and rain this evening and it’s cold but it’s kind of scattered. Not the nicest evening ever โ but I’m getting my steps in ๐ฃ.
Tonight will rain showers and sleet, mainly before 9pm. ๐ง Low of 34 degrees at 10pm. 17 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 5th. It was a pretty ordinary Tuesday at work ๐ข. I made it home by six 6โฃ. I’ve continued to further automate some of the boring ๐ค tasks I do at work with R and selenium. Code usually makes less mistakes than I do.
Tonight will have a Waining Gibbous ๐ Moon with 95% illuminated. Not going to see it with the clouds. Going to bed ๐ shortly. I guess the State of the Union address is tonight but I haven’t listened to a political address in years and will listen ๐ to the Lex Fridman podcast in bed. Most political speeches aren’t really worthwhile to listen to with all their partisan talking points ๐, you can catch the important points in the morning news ๐ฐ. I’ll listen to NPR as I make breakfast ๐ฅฃ tomorrow to learn what was noteworthy in the address. Truth is that if it’s not reported, doesn’t really matter what the politician said at any rate.
Tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny โ๐ โ , with a high of 42 degrees at 2pm. Eight degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around March 6th. The record high of 52 was set in 1925. 14.0 inches of snow fell back in 1895.โ
Been doing a lot of reading ๐ and research on what it means to be your forties and peak ๐ป earnings years. ๐ต Whatever that means, it sure doesn’t feel like much money during such inflationary times with taxes so high. You can do all the right things but it feels like the deck is stacked against you. I know have made a lot of progress but I am growing impatient as things take longer to compound then I would hope and I want to own my own land ๐. And I’m getting older ๐ด๐ป. But I’ll keep doing my best and those days will happen eventually.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday. Clear and 13 degrees in Delmar, NY. ๐ Calm wind. There is a inch of snow on the ground. โ ๏ธJust waiting for the sun to rise on my morning walk ๐ถ. It is a cold and crisp morning, the air tastes like barnyard. ๐ I’m not complaining. Things will start to thaw out at around 11 am. ๐ก๏ธ
As the sun rises pretty early compared to recent weeks โ and it’s clear out, decided to do my morning walk ๐ถ earlier then normal. Helped that today was a breakfast reheat morning. I’m glad I decided to cut my meals ๐ด in half and supplement with more fruits and vegetables. ๐ I feel less stuffed and healthier though like anything else change takes time to compound.
Today will have increasing clouds ๐๐ ๐ฅ , with a high of 39 degrees at 3pm. Five degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical day around February 25th. Breezy, with a light and variable wind becoming south 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Kind of like yesterday. Maybe windier. Not been a very sunny winter. A year ago, we had light snow in the morning, which became light snow by afternoon. The high last year was 26 degrees. The record high of 48 was set in 2005. 12.4 inches of snow fell back in 1983.โ
It’s a Tuesday. โ Bringing my umbrella to work to be safe but I don’t expect rain by evening, especially when I bring my umbrella. Also packed bananas ๐ and will swap with some of the oranges I have in the office to mix things up. I thought it would be good to have only oranges at work and bananas at home but I want to mix it up.

Started looking at my options for doctors.๐งโโ๏ธ WhileI think I am generally healthy I’m forty nowand I’m thinking a physical during the February break would be a good thing. It doesn’t look like I am due for any screenings beyond the normal blood pressure and hopefully that will be good with my walk and calorie reduction program. Saving and investing is good but health is important as that can be drain on finances.
Tonight will rain likely, mainly between 7pm and 9pm. Mostly cloudy ๐ง, with a low of 34 degrees at 8pm. 18 degrees above normal, which is similar to a typical night around April 7th. South wind 6 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible. In 2022, we had mostly clear skies in the evening, which became mostly clear by the early hours of the morning. It got down to 9 degrees. The record low of -16 occurred back in 1950.
I got my car insurance bill โ and it’s up to $475 for six months, up more than 10% from last year. Inflation I guess but the heck of it is that I drive so little and my truck is getting old, though I’m not ready to drop collision ๐ฅ yet on it. I wish I could take the insurance reduction class. Maybe I should look around at their competitors though I am generally happy with my plan. It does sort of make the case for getting rid of my vehicle and getting a bicycle ๐ฒ. That would be healthier. It’s fine, I have the money, ๐ต and I like to travel but it’s obnoxious as I thought turning 40 would lead to a modest cut in rates.
Right now, a split verdict on the weekend. ๐ Saturday, mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Sunday, sunny, with a high near 39. Typical average high for the weekend is 35 degrees. Probably Five Rivers walk Saturday, Bennett Hill Sunday. Just the usual. Hopefully this week I won’t need to go to the store ๐ฌ.

I was a bit surprised that there isn’t more time periods in winter that are above freezing, but then again the climate normals for Albany are still quite warm, so such runs are uncommon to this days.
