Weather Update – January 30, 2022
Not as cold today. 😎
That is a relative term. In other words, still as cold enough to freeze off you know what, but not as cold as yesterday. And a lot more sun. But then a warm up mid-week with rain, and then cold but maybe not as cold for the first week of February. ⛄ I am pretty sure at this point the Ground Hog will see his shadow, and maybe return to his burrow until May, 🐻 when maybe we will see spring by at least May 15th. 🌷

Good Morning – January 30, 2022
Good morning! Final Sunday of January. ⛄
It was mentioned in the Friday meeting at work that the Superbowl isn’t until the second week of February this year, the weekend before Presidents Day Weekend. Seems odd to me that it’s so late, but what do I know, it’s not like I ever watch it. 🏈
Mostly sunny and 3 degrees in Delmar, NY. 🌞 Hey, at least the mercury is positive. There is a northwest breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. The current wind chill is -12. There are 4 inches of snow on the ground. ☃ ️Things will start to thaw out at Tuesday around 1 pm. 🌡️
This bears repeating — seven weeks until spring! 🌺 When there is no hope, spring is coming. Or so we tell ourselves. Maybe it’s a lie, but I am sure hopeful. Not as cold today, although that bar is pretty low with things only maximizing out in the 20s. But maybe we will see the 40s mid week, although with rain. But good by for a lot of snow, at least for a couple of days.
I am hoping to go out to the Hannacroix Ravine Preserve outside of Clarksville today, 🐸 but I might have to go into the office later. 🏢 It really is hard to say, it seems like things are kind of up in air at work. I’ve never been to the Hanncroix Ravine Presesrve in years, apparently there is a nice waterfall up there. Seems like the preserve is always kind of crowded, so I end up avoiding it.
January 29, 2022 – Next Sixteen Weeks
We might be stuck in the harshness of winter but it won’t last forever … ⛄
Indeed if you look at the climate normals for February going to March, you will see an accelerating trend to spring, picking up a few degrees on average warm as we go through the month and then really accelerating as we head towards the first day of spring of March. The days already are getting noticeably longer, a trend that is also accelerating as we head into February. Then March 13th, with the time change, we will have much more light in the evening. There is hope! 😀 🐦 🐰 🌺

January 29, 2022 – Looking Ahead This Week
Another cold night on tap 🌬
Today was cold. Tonight looks like continued cold.
I know they are saying zero degrees, but I’m sure it will probably drop well below it if it’s anything like recent days. I turned down the heat for a while today, but it got cold quickly in my apartment and figured I better turn it up before bed and open the cabinets under the sink to be safe. Needless to say, I skipped my evening walk.
The good news is mid-week we will have a decent warm-up although it’s not expected to last real long. But with the rain, it might feel colder then what it actually is but should at least save on the heat a bit and melt away a lot of the snow. But it doesn’t seem like the warming trend is coming soon, but maybe it will mean that Ground Hog won’t see his shadow, for whatever that is worth.
