Albany, NY

Albany is the capital city of the U.S. state of New York, the seat of Albany County, and the central city of New York’s Capital District. Roughly 135 miles (217 km) north of the City of New York, Albany sits on the west bank of the Hudson River, about 10 miles (16 km) south of its confluence with the Mohawk River. The population of the city was 97,856 at the time of the 2010 census.

Two characters from a different era

Neil Hellman is mostly remembered for his philanthropy in his later years but he made most of his wealth as a tough as nails developer who more than once went up against the Corning machine and lost. 

Dick Patrick was Erastus Corning's urban planner, the city's first. A very colorful character, came out of the 1960s and was known as a polymeth like Erastus Corning.
