August 6, 2018 Evening

Good evening! Mostly clear and 84 degrees in Delmar. There is a south-southwest breeze at 6 mph. 🍃. The dew point is 70 degrees. The muggy weather ends Wednesday around 7 pm. 😓

I don’t know, it’s warm but not oppressive like earlier in the summer. But then again, I stayed late in the office and didn’t leave until 7:30 by which the worse of the heat and humidity had broken. 🌋 A late night as I had a lot of work to catch up on as I was gone last week on vacation.

I am tired, 💤so I’m laying in bed. I sat out back for a while but I wanted to lay back in my bed. A real bed, not one covered with line-x. I do like sleeping in my truck but I’m not sure if that a good idea in suburbia. Going to put a podcast on soon and go to the sleep. I’m kind of glad though to be home as in some ways life is easier at home than at camp.

Looks like the plumber came by my apartment today to fix the toilet but it’s still not working properly. I can manually flush it with the float but it would have been nice if the landlord had given me a heads up. I guess he’s on vacation this week but at least he always takes my calls. 🚽 I was a bit crabby and stinky today because I missed my shower due to the toilet issues and then left my lunch home. I really was hoping for closure as I’m tired of fiddling with the toilet and I want to know what I owe the landlord for the broken tank top. I should have called him weeks ago when the problem started occasionally before I accidentally broke the tank top. I always seem to break things in my apartment but I think it’s because stuff is old and fragile. I guess I’m not a gentle giant. 👾 That and as of December I’ve lived here for eleven years. Things wear out and break, especially the cheap stuff budget unit landlords use.

In four weeks on September 3 the sun will be setting at 7:25 pm,🌄 which is 43 minutes and 22 seconds earlier then today. In 2017 on that day, we had rain, drizzle, heavy fog, shallow fog, patches of fog, mist, cloudy skies and temperatures between 58 and 51 degrees. Typically, you have temperatures between 77 and 56 degrees. The record high of 100 degrees was set back in 1953.

Coeymans Parcel

I was reading that the city is once again talking about selling the Coeyman’s Parcel they bought from several land owners to the DEC for a new wildlife management area. I think it’s a good idea, as there really isn’t enough land near Albany for opportunities for people to hunt and trap who don’t have their own land.

There are many parks and privately owned preserves, and obviously the Albany Pine Bush, but really a darth of largely undeveloped public land near Albany, until you get well out to the hill towns in Albany or Rensselaer Counties.

Now I get that the city is working to recover its sunk costs in buying the land as a ruse to expand the landfill further into the Pine Bush, but so be it. I think if the city and state can come to an agreement this land should be put in the public domain for all to use. Government is not a for profit business, it’s fine for it to lose money in its transactions, it doing so serves the public interest.
