Tomorrow will have patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high around 76 at 3 pm. Typical for September 2nd. Maximum dew point of 57 at 10am. North wind 5 to 9 mph. Should be a nice day. The record high of 100 was set in 1953. The sun will rise at 6:21 am with the first light at 5:52 am, which is 1 minutes and 4 seconds later then yesterday.

Spent some time cleaning around my apartment. Pulled off the knobs of my stove and got it well cleaned up.  Also started to wire up the new switch for the CB radio and mini amplifier for the speaker. It’s a cute little amplifier. I haven’t wired it up but I expect it do to the job.

Saturday morning I will do an oil change, finish my wiring projects, do some more cleaning, and hook up the dashboard camera. My hope is to leave for camping between two an three in afternoon so I have time to carry my gear back in the wilderness and pitch the tent. Nights are coming a lot earlier this time of year. We will see. There is a lot to get done in a short period of time.

Looking ahead, First Day of Autumn is in 3 weeks, October 1st is in 1 month, Last Recorded Day Above in 90 in Albany is in 5 weeks, First Day with Average High Below 60 is in 7 weeks, Sunrise After 7 AM in Albnay is in 2 months and Thanksgiving is in 12 weeks. I love turkey day. Mom and Dad still make an amazing dinner after all these years.

Balmville Tree Springs Back To Life.

Balmville Tree Springs Back To Life.

"Local folklore has it that the tree grew when George Washington planted his walking stick while he and the Continental Army were encamped in nearby Newburgh during the final years of the Revolutionary War but core samples of the tree have dated its growth to 1699, well before American independence. Franklin Roosevelt often came to visit the tree."

The tree was cut down in 2015 when it was in terminal decline and ready to collapse on the road and surrounding houses. This summer though, the energy in the roots have allowed it to spring new branches and come back alive. While not uncommon for a large cut tree to do this, it's still a wonderful story of rebirth.

2015 Fatal Distracted Driving Crashes In New York

In 2015, only two fatal crashes were reported in New York State involving use of a cellphone. There were also two fatal crashes reported from drivers who were consuming food or drink while driving, and three while operating radio or heating and air conditioning controls. The most common distraction for drivers is not in the vehicle -- but things outside of the vehicle -- a scenic vista, a pretty women, etc. That said, most distracted driving crashes do not go into detail of what caused the distraction.
