Adaptive Headlights Are Officially NHTSA-Approved
The United States may be a land of freedom and opportunity, but it is also a place with some seriously dumb laws. Take Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 for example, which legally prevents high-beam and low-beam headlight elements from operating at the same time. That may have seemed like an issue in 1967 when the rule arrived, but it has somehow managed to keep adaptive headlights out of the U.S. for nearly two decades. Now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally come to terms with industry pressures. A new rule signed on February 1 will finally allow automakers to install adaptive headlights in the U.S.
Wild Boar Breaks Into House in Germany | Field & Stream
This is a tale that any parent of a high-school-age kid can probably relate to, but with a twist: A woman in Hagen, Germany, returned home earlier this month to find her living room thoroughly trashed, the culprit on the sofa, feet-up and utterly unrepentant. Well, the perpetrator of this domestic disaster was no surly teenager, it was a 130-pound wild boar. My Truck Gun: A Scout Rifle From Scratch
On February 4, the woman entered her home to discover the lounging hog less than 10 yards away from the front door. She was able to close the door and back out of the house without disturbing the boar. She then called the Hagen Police and several officers responded to the incident. According to a press release, the officers began strategizing how to remove the pig from the premises. The solution they settled on was quite simple. They propped open the front door, and the boar voluntarily made its way out of the house and was allowed to wander “back into nature” without further incident. The police theorized that the pig got in through a patio door, which then shut behind the animal, trapping it inside.

Good Morning – February 17, 2022
Good morning! Today 5:30 PM Sunset π .
Partly cloudy and 43 degrees in Delmar, NY. π The sun is rising as I go for my morning walk πΆ. There is a south breeze at 14 mph. π. There are 2 inches of snow on the ground. β οΈTemperatures will drop below freezing at tomorrow around 8 am. βοΈ
All and all its a pretty decent morning π although the wind makes it seem colder than the mercury would read but I’m out here pretending it’s spring wearing just my vest and a long sleeve shirt in what is still mid February. But you are free to dream it’s spring.
The truth is that I don’t have to go for my morning walk at quarter to seven β° because I have breakfast π₯£ and iron before then but I’m up and so is sun and there is less traffic at the hour. Plus I kind of like to have a little bit of time when I get back home before showering πΏ. Yesterday thought I missed the bus π as I lost track of the time. π
Last night I should have gone to the store πbut I did not as I was tired and lazy, figuring out alternatives meals for today. I did get milk π₯ bright and early at Stewart’s. Only a handful of people where wearing their muzzles there. π·
Did you see gas prices lately? β½ Maybe you don’t want to see them. You see so much traffic on the road these days and have to wonder how anyone can afford to motor. π I still kind of want to get out of town this weekend so I might have to just bite the bullet and gas up Red.
I was looking at my pay stub this morning π« and noticing that my gross pay was equal to how much I’ve saved for deferred compensation for the year so far. Which makes sense, as I’m doing 25% through the program so four paychecks at 25% equals 100%. I pay a lot in taxes but at least for now I don’t pay taxes on that until retirement. I have to do a Roth for my other IRA because the government seems to think that I make too much money π΅ even though I’m pretty broke most weeks with rarely more than the bare minimum in my bank account. π¦
