September 10, 2016 Night
Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 78 degrees in Brooklyn. There is a south-southwest breeze at 15 mph. The dew point is 73 degrees. The skies will clear tomorrow around 11 am.
It was an interesting ride down here, but i have to say I am glad I wasn’t driving.Β I would have never found a parking spot for Big Red in Brooklyn, and the traffic is pretty scary.Β It was an interesting trip down, we went through Lower Manhattan and got to pass by City Hall and cross the Brooklyn Bridge. Kind of remarkable how that ancient bridge still carries so much traffic all these years later. Hot and long day on the city, although I did go for a walk on the beach and enjoy some of the fresh sea breeze. A long and crazy day, but sometimes traveling you get to see different places and experience things both good and bad.
That said, I’m looking more forward to my second leg of this trip and visiting a lot of great places in Central New York this fall. Assuming I survive city traffic to make it back upstate. Sometimes I just have to close my eyes. I hope to catch the sunset from Lake Ontario one of the days, head up to Salmon River Falls and maybe fish the Salmon RIver, head to Green Lakes State Park and alsoΒ LabradorΒ Hollow once the fall colors reach peak colors,Β and many other trips. Maybe get down to the Finger Lakes at some point?
Then in November, I’m thinking ofΒ heading back to WestΒ VirginiaΒ and then hit the Blue Ridge Parkway and take it south ofΒ Roanoke,Β Virginia.Β Should be a lot warmer when I head south. Then eventually I think I will take a trip in late November to the North Country for hunting and camping. I had a lot of fun camping at Brasher State ForestΒ Β last November. Honestly, November is one of my favorite months of the year to camp, despite the short days and cooler weather. The big buddy heater, makes the wilderness feel a whole lot less colder during the cold part of the year.
But for tonight in the city, weΒ will have a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low of 74 degrees at 5am.Β Maximum dew point of 74 at 1am. South wind 13 to 15 mph. Waxing Gibbous Moon tonight with 62% illuminated. The moon will set around 3:35 am. The Full βCornβ Moon is on Friday at 7:05 pm with clear skies expected.
Tomorrow will have showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high of 85 degrees at 3pm. Maximum dew point of 71 at 6am. Southwest wind around 14 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The sun will rise at 6:32 am with the first light at 6:05 am, which is 58 seconds later then yesterday.
Looking ahead, Citizenship Day is in 1 weeks, First Day with Average High Below 70 in Albany is in 2 weeks, October 1st is in 3 weeks, Columbus Day is in 1 month, Make a Difference Day is in 6 weeks and New Years Eve is in 16 weeks. It’s remarkable to think we have New Years Eve to think about so soon.
