Good evening! Mostly cloudy and 57 degrees in Delmar. β There is a south-southeast breeze at 9 mph. 🍃. Warm enough that I sat out back for a while until the moon light filtered by the clouds. Finally feeling like I’m recovering from my cold,😤 which is good because I have my dentist appointment on Thursday. 😁Rainy weather coming up the next few days but at least it will be mild. Helping to melt the snow up in the Adirondacks. Spring Turkey season starts a week from Tuesday.

I’m thinking after the Save the Pine Bush hike I will probably stay in town this weekend but I will reserve judgment for a few days. Starting my morning in Middleburgh got me thinking about hiking the Cliffs of Middleburgh and camping at Burnt Rossman 🌿🌲🌳but I may want to let things green up before I do that hike and camp. I also think I want to spend more time once again hiking in the Catskills. I’ve forgotten how much these great lands can offer the recreationalist and they aren’t that far from home. 🌄
Past few days I’ve been doing a lot of traveling of the countryside for work. Visiting a lot of old places, many which have changed from the places that used to be.🏡🏦🏰🚜 Not all or even many of the changes are all they are cracked up to be. Stopped and took some street shots, I think I’m going to do that more often for preserving my memories. I wish I could be happy with the changing world but often looking back is a painful subject. That said, there is no going back, only greener pastures to be explored in lands far away. 🗻The mountains still inspire me but I realize both Pennsylvania and West Virginia, along with Vermont also have great mountains too. I’ve always wanted to explore the west and the many less regulated more free states like Missouri and South Dakota which are more live and let live.
Many of the changes to the land I do not like but I’m powerless to change them.🐙 The best I can do is invest in myself and my future, and look towards better days to come as I can’t look back. I read about Rip Van Winkle,👴 and feel much of his pain revisiting something that has come and gone. 😐I totally understand why my mom has not gone back to her childhood home many decades removed. I was reading that Rip Van Winkle story earlier today and was just tearing up. Dirt roads and Rural America are my heart but things just aren’t what they once were in New York. Maybe I’m just sugar coating the past, 🍭 nostalgia that never existed in a state full of work arounds to life in Upstate New York, but I also realize there are many better places to explore and learn about. Rip Van Winkle after all was just a fiction, one often criticized in the popular press.
