May 15, 2022 – Looking Ahead This Week

I’m not sad that the heat wave is breaking with the thunderstorms this afternoon โ›ˆ

While I don’t have air conditioning at home I’m no fan of the heat and humidity. Not great for sleeping ๐Ÿ˜ด and all I want to do is lay by the fan. I also kind of wish I had more apple ๐Ÿ juice to mix with my ice at home. I guess water is healthier.

Daily Update – May 15, 2022

Good afternoon! Talk about a hot and sticky early summer day. ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

That brief but intense rain storm has dropped the mercury a lot along with dropping some heavy rain and dramatically increasing the relative humidity.

Rain and thunderstorms and 76 degrees in Dormansville, NY. โ›ˆ๏ธ There is a south-southwest breeze at 5 mph. ๐Ÿƒ. The dew point is 61 degrees.

Out at my parents house for Sunday dinner ๐Ÿ” and then I’ll do a quick hike up Bennett Hill later this evening, assuming that it’s not pouring out. If I was responsible I would go to the grocery store ๐Ÿ›’ but I’m not but I have enough food to make do for at least a few more days.

While I felt find – minus allergies ๐Ÿ‘ƒ๐Ÿป especially outside yesterday at Five Rivers with the polen, I decided I should take a COVID-19 test before visiting my parents. First time ever for me – I was a bit concerned as many people in my office ๐Ÿข and some friends lately have gotten COVID and my parents are quite elderly ๐Ÿง“ now. It wasn’t pleasant to say the least ramming that swab up my nose – kind of hurt and tickled – but at least I was negative.

My parent’s neighbors big black diesel coal rolling truck ๐Ÿ›ป has a decal on it that says, “Diesel smoke makes me horny”. ๐Ÿ“ฏ I love rednecks, though I don’t know, my big jacked up truck is kind of expensive to operate but at least it doesn’t blow $6.75 a gallon diesel out its stacks. I so idolize trailer trash, their ATVs, feeder cattle and pigs on their junk filled homestead. ๐Ÿฝ Real life, not plastic suburbia.

Often I see these homesteading channels on the internet ๐Ÿฎ and they are so perfect, free of mud and manure, blood and maggots that are sometimes just part of rural life. Trust me, I know what kerosene and hog manure smell like at times, and I’ve broken the ice in frozen water trays and even walked into work with chicken shit on my boots ๐Ÿ‘ข. I am a dirty hick ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพand I love the dirty hick life.

Five Rivers Environmental Education Center ๐Ÿธ yesterday was nice but it was hot and muggy. Not a lot of people or wildlife there. Still better than being stuck home. With gas prices โ›ฝ so high I’m trying to avoid all non essential trips that I can avoid. Figure save the truck for when I’m heading out of town.

It looks like it's Clearing. From Five Mile Mountain, looking West.
